It was only two weeks ago when the Supreme Court of Canada declared the criticism of homosexuality to be a hate crime. It seems that in Toronto Islam is also under the same high protection. Today, at a protest somebody was arrested for mocking Islam.
As I wrote earlier, a protest event was scheduled for March 20 at the offices of the Liberal Party of Ontario. It was caused by the fact that the Minister of Labour of our ruling party, Yasir Naqvi, endorsed an Islamic book, which (in accordance with the Koran) recommended wife beating as a tool for solving family problems. Despite thepublic outrage, the Liberals chose to ignore the issue and turn a blind eye on Muslim misogyny.
The protest attracted a tiny group of participants carrying signs like:
“Beat wife only for honour & discipline, Holy Koran 4:34”
“Those that deny Islam will be killed, Holy Koran 33:16”
“Expose jihad with free speech or die”
However, what they lacked in numbers, they made up for with their creativity. Eric Brazau, who was one of the organizers, was dressed like an imam and accompanied by a woman in a full Muslim niqab.
Using a microphone, he gave a mock Muslim sermon, assisted by the veiled woman. He was “praising” Canada as a place, where you can beat your wife with impunity. Reading from sheets of paper, he also counted all the benefits you would get here if you are a religious fanatic. It was a satirical performance, which still focused the attention on the flaws of Islam.
In the beginning the people didn’t pay much attention. Then two police women stopped by and a police van for transporting people under arrest parked in the side street.

Spanish police on Tuesday cracked down on a Málaga prostitution ring which used voodoo to intimidate Nigerian women into becoming sex slaves.
The Hindu in the story below at least comes closer to the definition of ‘Martyr’ than any Muslim does. It is still emotional blackmail though. In essence, ‘do what I say or I will kill myself’ sort of thing. So while not terrorism in the sense that he is threatening others or their property its still a pretty crappy thing to do. But its orders of magnitude better than Islam where ‘desecration’ of their fetish objects results in massive killings burnings and threats.

Palestinians enraged by reports that an Israeli policeman mishandled a Koran battled riot officers at Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa mosque compound with stones and petrol bombs on Friday, police and witnesses said.
Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said that about 100 protesters, many of them masked, attacked police, who fired stun grenades in response.
“Petrol bombs were thrown at police,” he told AFP. “Several police officers were injured by stones that were thrown and were evacuated to hospital.”
An AFP journalist at the scene said the clash was triggered by Palestinian media allegations that a policeman at the compound, one of Islam’s holiest sites, on Sunday kicked a holy book and trampled on it.
Talk about a specious comparison. I bet the Dutch laws also require people to wear pants. The Nazis required people to wear pants! Oy Gevalt the Dutch are Nazis!
I despise this kind of comparison for the purpose of gaining privilege. It is as if I as a Canadian felt that I had a right to live under Canadian law when living in Holland. Sorry guys. If you want to have Jewish law go live in Israel. If indeed the Israelis allow you to wander around on the sabbath with no I.D.
I am tempted to ask why carrying ID is work and not walking all over the place but I have learned not to try arguing with religious people or unmedicated schizophrenics. Reason is not part of the equation, or rather, the reasoning is highly proprietary. But as my good friend Tundra T points out, if the orthodox Jews can invent a work-around to allow greater mobility for their community in Australia by putting a wire around the community to create an imaginary yes-go zone, then maybe they can wear a little wire halo that lets them be inside the ‘carry-ID zone wherever they happen to be. Or perhaps they can pretend that inside the halo it’s still Friday night.

The Conference of European Rabbis on Thursday compared a Dutch law that requires citizens to carry their identity cards at all times to restrictions placed on Jews by the Nazi regime in Germany.
The current controversy stems from a decision by an appeals court in The Hague which ruled this week that there is no religious exemption for Orthodox Jews that would allow them to refrain from carrying their identity documents on Shabbat, when transporting objects outdoors is prohibited under Halacha (Jewish law).

Also a good friend of ours at AINA made a few small corrections. She advised that this is taught in 2nd year, not 3rd at Al Azaar and that Al Azaar is not a ‘Salafi’ institution but is a Sunni one. The Sunni one actually.

KARACHI: Urdu linguists have distorted the meaning of the word “secular,” and falsely translated it as la-deen (non-religious). The use of the word is so dangerous now that even mainstream leftist political parties in the country are afraid of talking about it.
Civil society representatives highlighted these points as they participated in a seminar titled ‘Democracy and secularism in Pakistan: Its need and importance’, at the Arts Council on Saturday. The event was organised by the Forum for Secular Pakistan. The participants urged political leaders to push for a secular state, “as there can be no democracy in the country without secularism”.
Prof. Dr Jaffar Ahmed, the chairperson of the Pakistan Study Centre, criticised Urdu linguists for “distorting” the meaning of ‘secular’ in earlier dictionaries. The word was originally used to refer to the small pieces of land that common people used to hold in the days when the Catholic Church would own most of the land. The word came to symbolise scientific inventions and progressive thought in the 19th century, he said.
“If someone says that he is secular, people would kill him on the spot.”

Police at the Grand Mosque in Mekkah arrested on Thursday a man found carrying papers that show he is looking for a Jewish woman to marry, according to a report by the daily al-Hayat newspaper.
Lieutenant Abdulmohsen Maiman, spokesman for the Grand Mosque police, told the paper that the 49-year-old Saudi national could be suffering from “mental disorder.”
He said the man was arrested in possession of “five documents containing contradictory information showing the man’s mental state and expressing his desire to marry a Jewish a woman,” al-Hayat reported.
Lieutenant Maiman denied earlier reports that the man was handing out papers to worshipers and asking them for help in finding his Jewish dream wife.
The man according to the police official was referred to investigation and prosecution before he could be transferred to a specialized physician.
