Gates of Vienna, an especially good article about Islam from an especially good site

Gates of Vienna has some of the best writing on the net about Islam and the west such as the following: (they frequently feature Fjordman, a historian that should be mandatory reading for all school children)

'Vienna Viewed from the Belvedere Palace', by Canaletto, Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna

At the siege of Vienna in 1683 Islam seemed poised to overrun Christian Europe. We are in a new phase of a very old war

Demographic Conquest

by Baron Bodissey

Several years ago, after 9-11 but before we started blogging, Dymphna and I often had discussions about the coming Islamization of Europe. It was easy to see the trend: on the one hand there was the demographic decline of the indigenous population, and on the other was a dangerous multicultural ideology that fosters increasing levels of Muslim immigration.

The conclusion was obvious: absent a change of course, Europe will become a Muslim continent by the year X. The only question is whether X will be 2040, or 2100, or somewhere in between.

What was hard to understand was how the transfer of power would occur. Right now the parts of Europe that have been Islamized are mostly the working-class neighborhoods of large European cities and their suburbs. The blue-collar natives are gradually driven out as whole districts become no-go zones.

However, the elites who make policy remain in power and are for the most part removed from the effects of their decisions. They don’t live in the devastated neighborhoods, or send their children to the gang-plagued schools, or worry about being mugged or raped on their way home at night.

So for the time being they get to retain their power and perks, and continue to act out the illusion of an advanced, harmonious, enlightened, multicultural society, superior in so many ways to the racist nationalistic states of the past.

National Post on Canada’s HRC’s and free speech in comedy

From Canada’s National post

Comedy And Cruelty

B.C.’s human rights censors don’t understand what it takes to be a funny man. Their ignorance may sound the death knell for stand-up in this country

Jonathan Kay, National Post Published: Monday, June 30, 2008

Last week, George Carlin was obituarized as a brilliant comedian, a scathing social critic and a fearless enemy of government censorship. All true. But it turns out the legendary funny man can also teach us a thing or two about human rights.

A few years back, Carlin was doing a stand-up bit about the austere-sounding names assumed by popes (“Somehow, ‘Pope Corky the First’ doesn’t command a lot of authority”) when a heckler got under his skin. The comedian, pausing from his Godly shtick, smote the loudmouth thusly:

“Would somebody just put a d–k in that guy’s mouth, please? That’s what he wants! He’s a c–ksucker in disguise! He’s got his mouth open because he wants someone to cum in it!”

And then it got worse:

“If you keep it up, we’ll grab your ass and throw you on the f—ing street where you belong with your mother. And I’m f—ing her in the a–hole every night anyway. So f–k you and your sister and your wife. If you got a kid, I hope your f—ing kid dies in a car fire. How do you like that you stupid c–ksucker?”

Bald-faced bigotry. Gratuitous obscenity. Wishing the death of a child. Forget the seven dirty words: We’re talking here about three of the most powerful taboos known to Western society.

Which is precisely why the crowd loved it. Carlin got an ovation. And one can safely assume the “c–ksucker” kept his mouth shut the rest of the night.

Among good comedians, heckler-bashing is an art form — one whose brush strokes are rendered with the filthiest, most juvenile words imaginable. The goal is not just to shut the guy up. It’s to humiliate him as a warning to others — to reclaim control of the room by pile-driving the guy into his seat.

It’s not the sort of experience you forget. Back when I was at CEGEP in Montreal more than 20 years ago, one of my broomball buddies got on the case of a comedian at a downtown night club. After a while, the exasperated performer waded into the audience, stuck the butt end of his micstand into my friend’s face, and started making furious beeping noises. “My s–thead detector ? it’s going off the charts!” he exclaimed.

The comedian just stood there, beeping and beeping and beeping away — for what seemed like a full minute — while my friend literally collapsed into his own ashen-faced mortification. The crowd went nuts.

Since that day, I have never even thought about opening my mouth at a comedy club.

It’s a cruel, Hobbesian disciplinary protocol. But it’s also essential to good comedy. If every two-bit office ham with three mojitos in him felt at liberty to pipe up, comedy shows would all transform into open-mic night, and stand-up itself would become a dead letter.

Which is why the aforementioned Mr. Carlin must be rolling around in his grave right now. Thanks to a decision rendered last week by a B. C. Human Rights Tribunal, comedians performing in Canada may soon be responding to hecklers by asking them earnestly to “please refrain from further spurious commentary.”

The case in question dates from May 22, 2007, when a certain Guy Earle was performing comedy at Zesty’s Restaurant in Vancouver. Late into his act, a group of women — who, by the manager’s account, had been drinking on the outside patio for the previous seven hours — took seats next to the stage and started heckling. (Earle himself has offered a more precise description: “Two of them started making out, flipping me the bird and saying I hated lesbians.”)

2nd charge laid in Ontario ‘honour’ killing

Brother charged in alleged honour killing
26-year-old joins father in possible honour killing of 16-year-old girl
The Toronto Sun

Waqas Parvez is taken into police custody yesterday. He and his father face charges in the death of Aqsa Parvez, found strangled in December.

The shocking murder of Mississauga teen Aqsa Parvez took another disturbing twist yesterday when Peel Regional Police arrested her older brother and charged him with first-degree murder.

Waqas Parvez, 26, now joins his father Muhammad Parvez, 57, before the courts on pre-meditated murder charges in the Dec. 10, 2007 strangling death of the 16-year-old high school student who friends say did not want to wear the traditional Muslim Hijab head scarf and was rebellious against the strict Muslim rules laid down inside her family home.

At odds with her situation at home, she had been living at a friend’s house in the days preceding her slaying.

The Crown will now attempt to prove to a jury that it was that resistance to old-world-thinking, and her embracing a Canadian lifestyle, culture and friends, that resulted in the Pakistani-born Grade 11 Applewood Heights Secondary School student being murdered in a deliberate and thought-out manner.

over 1000 honour killings in 5 years. Turkey. By women against Shariah

Turkey: Over 1,000 Honor Killings in 5 Years

The Prime Ministry’s Human Rights Directorate issued a report on “honor killings,” which contains discouraging findings, daily Radikal reported Friday.

In Istanbul, at least one person dies every week because of honor killings according to the report, which is the most comprehensive in its field. The number of murders committed for honor in the last five years has exceeded 1,000. The murderers are treated as heroes in prisons and they do not regret their crimes.

“The Report on Honor Killings” was presented by the president of the Prime Ministry’s Human Rights Directorate, professor Dr. Tahsin Fendo?lu, at a meeting called “Women and Participation: Problems and Solutions.”

According to the report, the number of honor killings was 150 in 2002, while it rose to 220 in 2007. Occurrence of honor killings is inversely proportional with education levels. Not only women but also men fall victim to honor killings. Besides, around 9 percent of the murders are committed by children.

The report declares that metropolitan cities are leading crime scenes of honor killings. In the last five years, 167 people were murdered in Istanbul. Ankara followed with 144, ?zmir with 121, and Diyarbak?r with 69. The crimes were mostly perpetrated by people with origins in eastern Turkey. The report states that the number of honor killings in Istanbul increased to 53 in 2007 from 27 in 2006.

Fjordman: How the Feminists’ “War against Boys” Paved the Way for Islam

Some commentators like to point out that many of the most passionate and bravest defenders of the West are women, citing Italian writer Oriana Fallaci and others as examples. But women like Ms. Fallaci, brave as they might be, are not representative of all Western women. If you look closely, you will notice that, on average, Western women are actually more supportive of Multiculturalism and massive immigration than are Western men.

I got many comments on my posts about Muslim anti-female violence in Scandinavia. Several of my readers asked what Scandinavian men are doing about this. What happened to those Vikings, anyway? Did they drink too much mead in Valhalla? Despite the romantic mystique surrounding them today, the Vikings were for the most part savage barbarians. However, I doubt they would have looked the other way while their daughters were harassed by Muslims. In some ways, this makes present-day Scandinavians worse barbarians than the Vikings ever were.

Some in Denmark respond to the attack on its embassy with excellence

Where there is bold, it is mine. This is the speech as I found it, but any bold or emphasis are mine.

Also, where a claim is made about the EU and its actions and ambitions, I added a link to a most excellent Fjordman article (26 pages but worth every word) which very powerfully illustrates this Danish politician’s point about EU ambitions and anti democratic actions.

Danish Constitution Day speech
By Morten Messerschmidt of Dansk Folkeparti
June 5th, 2008

Last Monday (Pakistan, June 2nd 2008) we again experienced the tragic reality of the 21st century. Terror struck at Denmark — and we now find ourselves with such countries as UK, US, Spain, etc., singled out by Islamic fundamentalists as their main enemy. And why? Well, if you ask Radikale Venstre [centrist political party], we have only ourselves to blame. We shouldn’t have been sticking our necks out. If we had pursued a less active foreign policy, we would not have disturbed anyone, and thus no one would have disturbed us — this is the cheap world view on the Danish political left wing.

Unfortunately, the world is more complex than this.

When terrorists increasingly strike Western targets — in particular in those countries spearheading the fight for freedom, democracy and the rule of law — this is due to the Islamic fundamentalists feeling themselves under pressure. They feel under pressure in Iraq, in Afghanistan — and in the countries they rule, where their model for society leads only to stagnation. On the other hand, they feel encouraged by the fact that never before have so many Muslims lived in non-Islamic countries. Their fingers are itching to declare Jihad.

At the beginning of the 21st century the citizens of the West constitute only 14% of the world’s population. By 2025 it is expected to be only 10% because our population is in decline. On the other hand, we see Muslim minorities having a significantly higher rate of birth than the Europeans. This is the hope the fundamentalists attach their aspirations to — the hope that Europe one day will have an Islamic majority and the Caliphate can be reestablished. This is by no means a remote utopian dream — and the independence of Kosovo has fueled that dream anew.

Texas school kids have ‘Learn About Islam’ day. Or do they…

CAIR, The Council on Islamic relations, a group now well known to have established connections to terrorism, even arguably a mere front for jihadis as well as fund raising for them, somehow managed to get a Texas public school to have an ‘Islamic education day’.I use single quotes because I’m reasonably confident it will not include the ideas of honour killings, jailing women for being raped and the fact that women have basically no legal status, not even the status of half a man as quoran suggests. Its not this way in practice.

Below is the text of the article if you don’t want to click through…

Horrifying video of abuse of women in the Islamic world

This really is harsh. Do not watch it with children present or if you are feint of heart. This video contains graphic images of abuse of women for crimes ranging from accusations of adultery to the most banal and mundane day to day transgressions including ‘not making a satisfactory meal’

Again, Here is the direct link to the video

The inherent hypocracy of multiculturalism

I cant help but get a wry smile every time I read an article like this one.  When the word ‘multiculturalism’ started to become common parlance in Canada in the 70s even as a teenager I asked myself and others, ‘How can feminism and Islam ever have dominion in the same jurisdiction?’

Islam, Lowell, barbarism & idiocy

I listened to Lowell Green’s show this past Tuesday and found the response quite encouraging. Encouraging, insofar as more of the Islamist bugs scurried out of their dark religious cracks in the floor boards to defend the “religion of peace,” the ever misunderstood, Islam. It’s good to hear from these jihadis.

Lowell Green does a brave show on ‘Infidel’ Ayaan Hirsi Ali’s excellent book

I could write buckets about what is said and mostly what is not said on this show. Its a live call in radio show common in the US but rare in Canada and this show is a gem. While I of course with the benefit of hindsight imagine I could have done it better, for Canada, this is amazing courageous and important. The more journalists who speak out about the facts of Islam as Lowell Green does, the less likely are further terrorist attacks, killing of objectors to Islam such as Theo Van Gogh and the many others who have been killed as well as people currently on death lists by Islamic groups.

Please click read the rest of this article to get to the audio MP3s of this show.

Video speech about abuse of women in the Islamic world and by Muslims in the west

Warning, this video, while it contains no graphic images, I found harder to watch than most of the sensational videos showing violence. Perhaps this is from too much TV that made us all think the 9-11 attacks had to be faked… at first…

These women details many specific cases of typical abuse of women in the Islamic world as well as many very specific cases from Saudi Arabia to Dallas Texas. I am somewhat pleased that women are now speaking up about this. I have often wondered where the feminists are on Islam, the most salient issue concerning women in the world today, often seem to be in hiding.

This video also features a speech by Dr. Wafa Sultan, one of my growing list of heroes from the Islamic world. Noni Darwish and others give personal and horrifying accounts of life for women under Islam and its shariah law. Please watch but many of you should have a kleenex handy and remember, this is happening HERE. All over the western world now.

Muslim preacher rapes woman in the UK for allah

From Islam Watch. Just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse. I mean, you think Yeah this Islam thing is a problem in the west and maybe we should do something about it, comes a story like this one.

A Muslim cleric made a deal with some of his followers. He would, obeying the laws of Allah as stated in Koran, go and rape a hot British women he had seen in the area of the mosque. His followers agreed to say he was preaching at the time so he couldn’t be arrested and they all agreed to do that for each other in case the other men wanted to curry favour with Allah and do a little raping of their own.
