MANFRED GERSTENFELD GETS BROADSIDED BY THE UNETHICAL JOURNALISTIC PRACTICES OF NORWAY’S SIDSEL WOLD

Sidsel Wold: Journalistic ethics? 
I never let them stop me

This Norwegian woman is beneath contempt, and as the Tundra Tabloids fears, sadly represents what is considered the best of the best in Norwegian journalism. The Tundra Tabloids remembers how the two radical leftist activist doctors of, Gilberts and Fosse, received a standing ovation from the press corps during the unvealing of their (then) new book about the Gaza war in 09′. As far as the TT has been able to ascertain, only the Sec-Gen of the Norwegian Press Association, Per Edgar Kokkvold, voiced any criticism of the open display of partisanship by the Norwegian media.

So it shouldn’t come as a surprise then, that a Norwegian journalist who covers the ME beat in Israel for Norwegian state radio, NRK, Sidsel Wold, resorts to the very same contemptuous journalistic behavior that apparently has become the norm for those plying that trade in Norway. According to the Norway, Israel and the Jews blog, in a recent interview with the JCPA’s Manfred Gerstenfeld, who edited “Behind the Humanitarian Mask”:

After an interview with a Norwegian journalist he (Manfred Gerstenfeld) was misquoted throughout the Scandinavian peninsula and subsequently ridiculed and demonized. Last week, he published the Norwegian translation of an updated version of the same book, following which he was interviewed by NRK journalist Sidsel Wold. You find the transcript from the interview below. Notice the following:

1: Throughout the 3 minute interview, Gerstenfeld is allowed to speak only for 20 seconds. After this Sidsel Wold takes over. Instead of Wold asking questions and Gerstenfeld answering, Wold answers her own questions herself.

2: It is unclear when Wold is quoting Gerstenfeld for something he has said, when she is quoting him for something he has written, and when she is just expressing her own personal opinon of what Gerstenfeld really believes.

3: At the end of the interview, Wold concludes by straying onto a completely different issue, suggesting that Israel under Netanyahu’s government is witnessing McCarthyism.

Well, it doesn’t end there. The Tundra Tabloids has received permission from Dr.Gerstenfeld to publish an email he sent to Wold on April 8, 2010, that fully describes the depth, width and breadth of her deception, and manipulation of his words that were spoken in a three minute interview she conducted, in which Dr.Gerstenfeld was allowed to speak for only for 20 seconds.

Dear Sidsel,

You informed me that you lost the text of my interview with you and that you have broadcast another text which you call an “interview” with me, a copy of which you have sent me.
I gave the text of this so-called “interview” with me to a Norwegian acquaintance of mine to transcribe and translate, (for full text, see below).

What emerges is that this so-called “interview” is, in fact, a mix of the following three elements:

a) some quotes of mine, where I speak for a very short period;

b) several statements which you attribute to me, a substantial number of which I never made and are your inventions;

c) your own remarks which, to different extents, it is unclear to the listener whether they are yours or mine.

The Ethics Code of the Society of Professional Journalists states that journalists should “Test the accuracy of information from all sources and exercise care to avoid inadvertent error. Deliberate distortion is never permissible.” Your text flagrantly breaks these rules.

Examples of false quotes attributed by you to me:

I did not say that all Norwegian bishops are out to get Israel with the exception of one. I could not say that as I have read about the position of four bishops in total, three of who are against Israel.

I did not specifically name any Israeli NGOs which spread hatred of Israel. This subject is the specialized domain of NGO Monitor and I did not enter into details on this subject. As far as I know NGO Monitor does not claim that all the organizations you mention are spreading hate of Israel. The insertion of the names, in what are supposedly quotes of mine read out by you in the interview, are falsifications. You inserted the names of the organizations on your own initiative

I did not say that most of the journalists and academia are out to get Israel. Indeed, many journalists who deal with Israel are anti-Israeli and in the academia there are key figures and others who are extreme anti-Israelis.

I did not say that the aim of these anti-Israelis is to hit the Jews. Their aim is to hit Israel.

I did not say that Norway is credible. What I said is that Norway has “the image of being credible”, which is something radically different.

You say in the broadcast text:

“He believes that those who criticize Israel today are anti-Semites and that Norwegian elites are the worst of them all. Yes, Norway is the spearhead of the world when it comes to disseminating of Jew-hatred, illegitimate anti-Israeli criticism, he believes.”

This is a radically false construction made by you which has nothing to do with what I believe. You have manipulated a variety of texts, which you attribute to me, and on the basis these manipulations you falsely construct my “beliefs.”

When you lost the tape you had a number of honest options:

1) not to broadcast the interview;

2) try to contact me in Norway which was not all that difficult. You could have called my secretary or my home for my contact details;

3) accurately quote texts from my book Behind the Humanitarian Mask, Israel and the Jews, The Nordic Countries, Israel and the Jews, a copy of which I gave you.

You chose a fourth option: to produce a constructed text which contained a large number of fallacies, air them during a short broadcast, and attribute them to me. I now wish be given equal air time, in which only my words will be broadcast, in answer to questions without any independent comments by you.

If I do not receive a satisfactory answer from you before 11 April 2010, I will feel free to take any steps I deem necessary.

As this correspondence concerns an item which was broadcast and was aired in the public domain, I do not consider the contents confidential.

As Bat Ye’or showed in Eurabia: The Euro-Arab Axis and I elaborated in my own book Defeating Eurabia, Eurabia was born when Western European leaders abandoned their pro-Israeli stance due to Arab threats in the 1970s. This should serve as a reminder of how closely the fate of Europe is tied to that of Israel. Three years ago I wrote the essay Why Europeans Should Support Israel. As I stated there, “Bat Ye’or’s predictions about Arab anti-Semitism spreading in Europe as the continent’s Islamization and descent into Eurabia continues have so far proved depressingly accurate. This trend needs to be fought, vigorously, by all serious European anti-Jihadists. Not only because it is immoral and unfair to Israelis, which it is, but also because those who assist it are depriving Europeans of the opportunity to fully grasp the threat and understand the nature of the Jihad that is now targeting much of Europe as well.”

I remember one Holocaust survivor who was asked what he had learned from the Second World War. He replied that “When somebody says he wants to kill you, you should believe him.” Jews have learned this lesson the hard way, which is why they will fight, as they should, when people such as Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of the Islamic Republic of Iran brag about how they want to wipe out Jews in a “final victory.” The rest of us should fight, too.

The incessant demonization of Israel in the mass media prevents us from realizing that what we are dealing with is a global campaign of bloody conquest. Those of us who read the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) or websites such as Jihad Watch know that Islamic leaders and preachers regularly and openly brag about how they are planning to conquer our lands, defile our women and wipe out our civilization. When people say that they want to kill you and wipe out your culture you should take them seriously. They mean exactly what they say; it’s not a code word for “I feel so humiliated by Western support for Israel.”

And it’s not about “human rights,” either. The “human rights” of Muslims, especially those of Muslim women, are violated every single day in Muslim majority countries, not to mention those of the religious minorities who are unfortunate enough to live there. From an Islamic point of view, human rights are the invention of Western Crusaders. Groups such as Palestinian Hamas only talk about “human rights” to deceive a Western audience. What they really mean is “We hate you, infidel scum, and your worthless culture. Our brave Jihadists will slaughter you and crush you like bugs while we defile your women and keep your children as slaves.” Of course, if asked by the BBC, the CNN or The New York Times they will state their concern for “human rights” and “Islamophobia.” It sounds much better on TV.

DR.MANFRED GERSTENFELD’S PREDICTION ABOUT MALMÖ AND OSLO COMES TRUE SOONER THAN EXPECTED

Dr.Manfred Gerstenfeld, Chairman of the Board of Fellows at the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs, while speaking during a press conference in Oslo (24.03.2010) for his recently released book “Anti-Semitism in Norway”, made the following prolific near-perfect prediction:
“The problems of Malmö as a European capital of hatred had been known to experts for four years at least. Now they suddenly are widely known internationally. Will Oslo be the next Malmö? In my opinion what happens here concerning anti-Israelism and anti-semitism will reach the international press in six months to two years. Whether you want to solve the problem before, the Norwegians have to decide themselves. Thank you for your attention.”

Concerning the city of Malmö, the hub of Muslim immigration and anti-Semitism in Sweden and that of Oslo, the dear doctor made only a slight mistake in his forecast, in fact it took only less than a week. Here is an article from the Swiss daily NZZ (Neue Zurcher Zeitung), which is considered one of the leading media in the German language. It equates Norway and Malmö in regards to their anti-Semitism and anti-Israelism. KGS

As a father laments, teenage Muslims would want to hang his son because he was a Jew. A Teacher talks “of” notorious bullying. Hitler was regarded as a “good sport,” the West as a Jewish protectorate. Lessons on the Holocaust would be greeted with derision. TV shows have a bad influence from the Middle East, which can be received via satellite. The station showed scenes of Palestinian children of primary school age, who agreed to kill Jews, if Allah wishes. The Israeli policy has little sympathy in Norway, as once considered as a peacemaker. Recently, even some bishops of the Established Church considered a call for a boycott of Israeli goods. In Norway, there lives 1300 Jews and 150 000 Muslims.

Muslim Aid: the Hamas connection

A CHARITY praised last week by Gordon Brown and the Prince of Wales has channelled hundreds of thousands of pounds to groups linked to Hamas, the banned terrorist organisation, according to security sources.The Prime Minister and the heir to the throne personally praised Muslim Aid, whose own accounts show it has paid at least £325,000 to the Islamic University of Gaza, where leading Hamas figures teach, and £13,998 to the al-Ihsan Charitable Society, designated by the US government as a “sponsor of terrorism” and a front for the Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorist group.

Security sources also claim that Muslim Aid has helped channel a further £210,600 to six other organisations in the Gaza Strip since July 2009, all of which they say are linked to Hamas.

Muslim Aid is banned from the West Bank by the Israeli government, which says it is a member of the Union of Good, an alliance of charities that raise money for Hamas. Hamas is banned throughout the EU as a designated terrorist organisation.

In a video address to Muslim Aid’s 25th anniversary dinner on Wednesday, Mr Brown praised the charity’s “valuable work” and said: “I wish Muslim Aid and its passionate and committed staff and supporters the very best for another 25 years of achievement.” […]

The Prince sent a message saying that “our country is incredibly fortunate to be able to count on organisations like Muslim Aid, who bring not only help, but hope to those most in need”.

Muslim Aid, based at the hardline East London Mosque, has close links to the Islamic Forum of Europe (IFE), a fundamentalist Muslim group based in the same offices.

Muslim Aid raised more than £24 million last year and has been given at least £830,000 of public money. It claims to serve humanity “regardless of political affiliation” and only supports lawful organisations.

However, one foreign security source said: “We are opening our eyes on them. In the past they were supporting the outer rim of Hamas societies in Gaza. Now they are supporting the core.”…

US CONSULATE IN PAKISTAN TARGET OF TERRORIST ATTACK 7-8 DEAD

UPDATE: One attacker was able to blow up in the U.S. Consulate premises, AAJ TV reported April 5. The front side of the U.S. Consulate has been totally destroyed. Reports of seven or eight security personnel in the Consulate are dead. The Consulate’s communication system is down.

RED ALERT: U.S. Consulate Attacked In Pakistan

Three explosions, two rocket attacks and subsequent gunfire have been reported in the near vicinity of the U.S. consulate in Peshawar, Pakistan, on April 5. The attack occurred early afternoon local time when the consulate would have been full of both American and local employees. The death toll is reported at 36 but is expected to rise.

There are no assessments yet of the damage that the consulate building has sustained, but reports indicate that the explosions led to the collapse of other, adjacent buildings. Pakistani soldiers are also reported to be engaging militants in gunfire, indicating that militants are actively engaged in an attack near the area – possibly with the intention of breaching the U.S. consulate.

Many U.S. diplomatic missions (including the one in Peshawar) have a number of built in security features, such as a perimeter wall, ample stand-off distance between the buildings and the wall, reinforced concrete structure and windows and marines stationed inside to ward off attacks. While militant activity in the tribal belt of northwest Pakistan has led to regular attacks against targets of the Pakistani state, today’s assault against the consulate is an extremely rare direct attack on a U.S. target.

Explosion on Moscow-Baku Railway

Explosion in Dagestan derails Moscow-Baku freight train

There has been an explosion on the Moscow-Baku railway in Kajakent, Dagestan at 03:40 local time today. Reportedly, two explosive details were set up; one with a power of about 5kg of TNT to attack a train, and the second with a power of about 1kg of TNT to attack rescue personnel. A freight train carrying pipes, lumber, road surfacing material and grain has been damaged, no injuries have been reported. The section of the railway has been closed for traffic, leaving to disruptions in train schedules.

Burka-clad bomb attackers shot dead in Lashkar Gah

Afghan security forces have shot dead two militants who attacked a charity office in the southern city of Lashkar Gah, officials say.

They say the two men, wearing burkas, were killed before they could detonate their explosives-laden vests.

A woman working for the International Relief and Development charity and a guard were injured in the attack.

Lashkar Gah is near Marjah in Helmand province, the focus of a major Nato-led offensive against the Taliban.

Last Saturday, suicide bombers launched an assault on the city of Kandahar, in the neighbouring province, which left at least 35 people dead.

A Taliban spokesman said the attacks were in response to a planned major offensive by US and Nato forces against militants in the Kandahar province.

MUSLIM ORGANIZATION OIC PULLS PICTURE OF PIG-MOHAMED FROM ITS WEBSITE……!

After the Tundra Tabloids reported on the OIC’s publishing of the pig-Mohamed cartoon on its own website, the Danish paper Jyllands-Posten picked up the story yesterday, then today the Swedish paper SVD reported on it, and then the OIC pulled it from its website.

So the TT believes that the Baron’s take was right, when the infidel publishes a pic of Mohamed, it’s bad, but when a Muslim does it, especially the world’s largest Muslim organization, the OIC, then it’s ok, until they realize how hypocritical they look doing it. Baron Bodissey:
“Thus, under the clear guidelines of Islamic law, it is entirely possible that if someone says something factually true, but which does not benefit Islam, that person can be judged guilty of slander under sharia. This is the net that has snared Geert Wilders: the Amsterdam court is implementing sharia on behalf of the Muslims of the Netherlands, and therefore the truth is no defense.

Now let’s apply the same rules to Mohammed the Pig. The republication of the drawing in Norway is deemed harmful to Islam. Therefore the image has defamed Islam, which makes those who display it guilty of blasphemy under sharia. By a strict application of the law, the offending parties must be put to death.

But the OIC’s use of the same drawing is not harmful to Islam: it is intended to explain to faithful Muslims the iniquitous behavior of the infidels, and to illustrate the dangerous blasphemy in which they are engaged. The OIC is acting in the interests of Islam, for legitimate and sharia-approved reasons, and its actions benefit Islam. Thus no slander or defamation is involved in the Islamophobia report.

There are no contradictions, no double standards. Everything makes complete sense, and is as clear as a bell.

But only if you think like a Muslim.”

A good analogy from Vlad, when Blacks call each other the “N” word, it’s ok, but when a white person does….all hell breaks loose. KGS
