Column One: Moral relativism and jihad

It is the dominance of moral relativism in liberal institutions like

the New York Times that make even the most apologetic expose of the Muslim Brotherhood a major event.

Two events happened on Wednesday which should send a shiver down the spine of everyone concerned about the future of the American Jewish community. But to understand their importance it is important to consider the context in which they occurred.

On January 13, The New York Times reported on a series of virulently anti-Jewish comments Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi made in speeches given in 2010. Among other things, Morsi said, “We must never forget, brothers, to nurse our children and our grandchildren on hatred for them: for Zionists, for Jews.” He said that Egyptian children “must feed on hatred; hatred must continue. The hatred must go on for God and as a form of worshiping him.”

In another speech, he called Jews “bloodsuckers,” and “the descendants of apes and pigs.”

Youtube once again pulls video exposing hate speech by Muslims.

A few years ago, youtube blocked a video my group had translated and subtitled, which was of a Dutch Muslim-Moroccan ‘rap’ band that did a massively antisemetic quasi-musical video demanding renewed horror upon the Jewish people.

Youtube, as well as removing my translated and titled version, continued to allow the original video in rather poor Dutch to remain online at their site.

So in other words, it would at least appear, if not in fact, that youtube disallows the exposing of hate speech while allowing actual hate speech to remain.

Personally I do not believe this is youtube policy. Personally I think this is either because they have more people who speak English than anything else so that once it is in English they can deal with it, or, the people who make these decisions are far leftists or Muslims who use youtube’s policy guidelines as ways of selectively enforcing for their own goals.

It is also possible that they are sensitive about antisemitic material and knee jerk react to Jew Hatred without realizing the nuanced fact that my video, as well as the PALWATCH one below, were in fact exposing antisemitism and not promoting it.

Like blasphemy laws themselves, it is hard to adjudicate a case where the judge is not fully allowed to look at the material that caused the offense. If you understand the comparison.

Now Palestinian Media Watch is being threatened with losing their channel (as I in fact did although for more than just that one video) because of this video. The full story is worth reading over at their site. The video in question is below.

A lecturer in the University of California in Santa Cruz came under fire for accusing two Muslim students associations of having connections to Hamas and Hezbollah in a lecture given at an off-campus event in June 2012.

In a video posted on YouTube in February 2013, lecturer Tammi Rossman-Benjamin, who teaches Hebrew at UCSC, is shown addressing a crowd at Temple Ahavath Torah.

Benjamin is shown describing students from the Muslim Students Association and Students for Justine in Palestine as often being foreign students arriving at American universities from Muslim countries where they are “fed on a diet of anti-Semitism.”

Israeli filmmaker beaten unconscious at French film festival

A group of Arab youths have reportedly attacked an Israeli film director, Yariv Horowitz.

Horowitz, who directed the film “Rock the Casbah” was participating at a film festival in France when he was attacked by a group of Arab youths just before the film won the best film award.

He is reported to have lost consciousness and has been subsequently treated. Horowitz is said to have returned immediately to the festival after treatment. Authorities are estimating that the attack was racially motivated.

Palestinian newspaper praises Nazism, attacks Freemasonry

Last week, only days before US President Barack Obama was scheduled to visit Israel and Palestine, a Palestinian newspaper published an op-ed piece praising Hitler, and blaming Freemasons for the 9/11 attacks.

In the shocking op-ed, published by the official PA Daily, by Hassan Ouda Abu Zaher claims that al-Qaeda was not responsible for the 9/11 attacks on the US, but that they were carried out by Freemasons (members of The Masonic fraternity). The fraternity was founded in London in 1717. It later spread across Europe, and has branches (or “Lodges”) in most countries. It is banned in most Muslim-majority countries, although Freemasonry is permitted in Turkey. Typically, candidates for membership must believe in God, although, transcending religious boundaries (always a slap in the face to extremists), members can be of any religion, including Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Hindu, and Buddhist. Freemasonry was the subject of Dan Brown’s novel, The Lost Symbol.

Nevertheless, in the anti-Masonic and anti-”Zionist” rant, Abu Zaher talks of “the lie about Al-Qaeda and the Sept. 11 events, which asserted that Muslim terrorists committed it, and that it was not an internal American action by the Freemasons, which was mentioned in the Illuminati game cards ten years before it took place, and in over 15 Zionist and Freemason Hollywood-produced films in the 1990s.”

If tomorrow, God forbid, I were to cause the death of an innocent man with my car, minutes after sending a series of texts on my mobile phone, I’m guessing I’d spend the rest of my life riddled with guilt. What I wouldn’t do is go on television and lay the blame for my subsequent 12-week imprisonment at the door of . . . wait for it . . . the Jews. Yet that’s what the Labour peer Nazir Ahmed did in April 2012 – less than five years after causing a car crash on the M1 in which Martin Gombar, aged 28, was killed.

“My case became more critical because I went to Gaza to support Palestinians,” he says to his Pakistani interviewer in Urdu, in a video recording obtained by the Times. “My Jewish friends who own newspapers and TV channels opposed this.” The judge who put him behind bars, Lord Ahmed claims, was appointed to the high court after helping a “Jewish colleague” of Tony Blair’s during “an important case”.

To claim that your jail sentence for dangerous driving is the result of a Jewish plot is bigoted and stupid. The peer has since been suspended from the Labour Party and forced to stand down as a trustee of the Joseph Interfaith Foundation. I’m not sure how many “Jewish friends” he has left – if, that is, he had any to begin with.

Full disclosure: I know Lord Ahmed and have defended him in the past. In 2007, he flew out to Sudan to help free the schoolteacher Gillian Gibbons from the clutches of the odious Islamist regime in Khartoum. In 2009, an Appeal Court judge noted how the peer had “risked his life trying to flag down other vehicles to stop them colliding with . . . his car”. He is not a latter-day Goebbels. But herein lies the problem. There are thousands of Lord Ahmeds out there: mild-mannered and well-integrated British Muslims who nevertheless harbour deeply anti-Semitic views.

It pains me to have to admit this but anti-Semitism isn’t just tolerated in some sections of the British Muslim community; it’s routine and commonplace. Any Muslims reading this article – if they are honest with themselves – will know instantly what I am referring to. It’s our dirty little secret. You could call it the banality of Muslim anti-Semitism.

I can’t keep count of the number of Muslims I have come across – from close friends and relatives to perfect strangers – for whom weird and wacky anti-Semitic conspiracy theories are the default explanation for a range of national and international events. Who killed Diana and Dodi? The Mossad, say many Muslims. They didn’t want the British heir to the throne having an Arab stepfather. What about 9/11? Definitely those damn Yehudis. I mean, why else were 4,000 Jews in New York told to stay home from work on the morning of 11 September 2001? How about the financial crisis? Er, Jewish bankers. Obviously. Oh, and the Holocaust? Don’t be silly. Never happened.

Growing up, I always assumed that this obsession with “the Jews” was a hallmark of the “first-generation” immigrants from the subcontinent. In recent years, I’ve been depressed to discover that there are plenty of “second-generation” Muslim youths, born and bred in multiracial Britain, who have drunk the anti-Semitic Kool-Aid. I’m often attacked by them for working in the “Jewish owned media”.

Labour Party suspends first Muslim peer Lord Ahmed for ‘anti-Semitic’ tirade

A Labour lord has been suspended by the party after an alleged anti-Semitic rant blaming a Jewish ‘conspiracy’ for his dangerous driving jail sentence.

Lord Ahmed is said to have complained in a TV programme that Jews ‘who own newspapers and TV channels’ put pressure on British courts.

The Muslim peer was jailed for 12 weeks in 2009 – serving 16 days – after being involved in a fatal car crash on Christmas Day 2007.

Lord Ahmed, 55, admitted dangerous driving after it emerged he sent five text messages while driving shortly before the motorway collision near Rotherham that killed 28-year-old Martin Gombar.

Today’s announcement follows reports he told an Urdu-language broadcast in Pakistan that his trial judge was appointed to the High Court as reward for helping a ‘Jewish colleague’ of former prime minister Tony Blair.

An attorney has asked a judge to exclude Jewish people from a terror trial.

Frederick Cohn believes his client, Abdel Hameed Shehadeh, who is accused of lying about trying to join jihadists in Pakistan, will not be given a fair trial if Jewish people sit on the jury.

Today he will ask the judge to bar them from the Brooklyn court – he first told the court in February he was ‘not wild about having Jews on the jury in this case.’

‘Given that there’s going to be inflammatory testimony about Jews and Zionism, I think it would be hard for Jews to cast aside any innate antipathy,’ said Mr Cohn, who is Jewish, reported the New York Post.

‘The American Jewish community is heavily aligned with Israel and Zionism. Here is a guy who is a Muslim, who is opposed to those thing’ he said.
