Nigerian terrorist group Boko Haram has been kidnapping Christian women from rural areas and forcing them to convert under threats of death, Mail & Guardian reports. The women are then kept as slaves and child brides – and forced to help the terrorists kill innocent Nigerians.
Mail & Guardian brings the story of Hajja, now 19, who was forced to serve as the slave of a guerrilla unit for 3 months. Hajja recounts being forced to cook, clean, read from Islamic texts – and be the “bait” for the terrorists to lure innocent Nigerian men to their deaths.
On one mission, Hajja was sent to stand in a field near a village to attract the attention of civilians working with the army. When five men approached her, they were ambushed.

(CNN) — Gunmen suspected of being members of the Islamist group Boko Haram attacked motorists in northeastern Nigeria on Sunday, killing four, authorities said.

As many as 50 people have been killed after suspected Islamist gunmen fired on students as they slept at a college in northeast Nigeria.
The attackers reportedly stormed a dormitory and set fire to classrooms in the assault which happened about 1am local time on Sunday in the town of Gujba in Yobe state.
Nigeria’s military is blaming militants from the Boko Haram insurgent group for the atrocity at the College of Agriculture.

Gunmen stormed a crowded shopping mall frequented by Westerners on Saturday in the Kenyan capital of Nairobi, a brazen midday attack that has killed as many as 15 people.
A witness said that gunmen armed with AK-47s and grenades told Muslims to stand up and leave and that non-Muslims would be targeted, according to The Associated Press.
At least 15 people have been killed in the assault, the Kenya Red Cross estimated, though Kenyan police and government officials have not released numbers of casualties.

21 wounded, no deaths in a bombing targeting Egypt’s interior minister convoy Thursday, minister survives
Egypt’s Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim survived an assassination attempt when a bomb detonated early on Thursday near his convoy in northeast Cairo, officials told Ahram Online.
Earlier reports said the blast resulted from a car bomb, but state TV said that the bomb was thrown by unknown assailants from a nearby building at around 10:30 am.

Armed with machetes and clubs, vigilantes in Nigeria’s northeastern city of Maiduguri are setting up roadblocks and conducting house-to-house searches to aid the army’s fight against Islamist militants.
While the military welcomes the public’s support in the battle against the Boko Haram Islamist group, human rights activists say vigilantes’ activities may worsen violence and lead to abuses against innocent civilians.
