Conservative MP: EU is an “occupying force”

Mark Pritchard, the secretary of the 1922 Committee has demanded a vote on Britain’s membership of the EU. The committee is composed of Eurosceptic and traditionalist Conservative MPs, and had an early run in with Prime Minister David Cameron, just after the election of 2010, when he insisted that Ministers be allowed to help choose its chairman — almost needless to say, to ensure that it would be in lockstep with Government decisions. Cameron backed down after the row went public, and threatened to cause serious revolt within Conservative Party ranks less than a few weeks after becoming PM.

The ban came in response to the two thousand Muslims that had been gathering regularly in northern Paris, and praying in the streets in scenes of mass worship. A just-published report for the Committee on Standards in Public Life shows that the British public trusts their politicians less today than prior to the election. The findings were based on polls conducted between 2004 and 2010. BREAKING: Two Men Falsely Claim to Be ‘Air Marshals’ on DC-bound Flight

Alert readers have reported that their flight, United Airlines 3681, from St. Louis to Washington Dulles had to make an emergency return to the gate as it prepared for take-off. According to local officials, it was found that two men who had boarded the plane as ‘federal air marshals’ didn’t have the proper credentials. Passengers were deplaned, all luggage was removed and re-scanned. All passengers were also re-screened. Passengers are now in the process of re-boarding. There is no word on the two ‘air marshals.’

BigGovernment has contacted security officials in St. Louis. We will report back what we hear. Interestingly, we understand that Oliver North is on the flight, as well.

The BBC reported this week that Shaker Aamer, a “close associate” of Osama bin Laden, and the “remaining British detainee” at Guantanamo Bay prison, is on hunger strike. EDL holds protest for leader at prison

Activists of the controversial anti-Islamist English Defence League protested outside Bedford prison yesterday (Wednesday) in a show of support for EDL leader Stephen Lennon (AKA Tommy Robinson). Approximately 30 members of the EDL gathered near the entrance of the prison, where Mr. Robinson is being held, holding pictures of the EDL leader and other signs reading “Free Tommy Robinson.” A number of EDL flags were also on display.

Far-Right growing; becoming more confrontational: academic

Political science lecturer Matthew Goodwin has said a “noticeable tide of anti-immigration sentiment” has emerged in Europe over the last decade. He says that there is now “open skepticism toward” the affect of immigration “on the welfare states of Europe, on public services, culture, values, way of life, but we’ve also seen quite high levels of dissatisfaction over the response of mainstream parties on that issue.”

Speaking to the Economist, professor Goodwin said that  there has been a “nopticeable shift” in the discourse of far-Right parties over the last five to six years toward a more “confrontational” and “provocative” message. UK Conservatives send you best wishes for Eid-ul-Fitr

In case you were feeling excluded, Baroness Warsi has sent her best wishes to all those in the UK and around the world celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr.

She says, “Eid is a time for families and friends, a time of joy and happiness. It is when communities come together, celebrate the end of the month of Ramadan.”

Baroness Warsi “was instrumental in the launch of Operation Black Vote in West Yorkshire in 1996 and was for many years both an executive member of the Kirklees Racial Equality Council and a member of the Joseph Rowntree Trust Racial Justice Committee.”

She has said she believes that anti-Muslim prejudice is seen as normal and acceptable in the UK.

The baroness was appointed chair of the Conservative Party in 2010 after failing to get elected as an MP.
