Former BBC security guard Richard Dart planned to target the town or “a few MI5 MI6 heads” after training in Pakistan camps.
A Muslim convert who plotted a terror attack on Royal Wootton Bassett has been jailed for six years.
Richard Dart, 30, who appeared in a BBC 3 documentary about Islam in 2011, had also planned to target members of the security services after receiving training at camps in Pakistan.
Dart, the son of Dorset-based teachers, was jailed at the Old Bailey with his co-conspirators Jahangir Alom, a former police community support officer, and Imran Mahmood.

TORONTO — A man charged in an alleged al-Qaida-directed plot to attack a Via Rail passenger train suggested in court Wednesday that he doesn’t recognize the authority of the Criminal Code because it is “not a holy book.”
Chiheb Esseghaier, 30, of Montreal, asked to address the Toronto courtroom after the five terrorism charges against him were read out.
They are based on the Criminal Code and “we know that this Criminal Code is not a holy book,” Esseghaier said.
“It’s just written by set of creations and the creations they’re not perfect because only the creator is perfect.”
As a result, he said, the “conclusions taken out from these judgments” are unreliable.
The justice of the peace presiding over the case, who had warned him to be careful what he said, ordered Esseghaier detained until his next appearance May 23 via video from a detention centre.

Two alleged islamist terrorists have been detained in Murcia and Zaragoza.
The National Police searched the flat where the one detained in Murcia was dwelling, in the district of Barriomar.
The Interior Minister, Jorge Fernández Díaz, assured today that one of the two alleged members of the radical cell related to the terrorist organization Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb who has been detained, had made apology for the Boston attack.
The minister spoke thus about the detention of two presumed members of a radical cell linked to the terrorist organization AQMI – Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb which was carried out in Murcia and Zaragoza.
“According to the police, the profile of the detainees is that of the lone wolf”, just like the two terrorists who carried out the terrorist attack in Boston, the Minister declared.
The detainee from Zaragoza praised the Boston attacks calling them an answer to “the death of innocents and imperialism”.
Police have been working for more than a year in this operation, which remains open, in collaboration with the police forces from France and Morocco, the Minister said. Just as I was making the post right below, the website for Biosensor BioMEMS Bionanotechnology Lab vanished off the net. No trace. Well almost no trace, thanks to some good friends with more patience than I have for things like Google Cache we managed to resurrect the pages from this organization for you here.
I am not saying this is the guy who was arrested, just that he has the same name and the website hosting his image mysteriously vanished shortly after the RCMP press conference.
We think one of the arrested Al Qaeda terrorists is the bearded guy on the right next to the professor.
Interesting crew at this nano-tech biology lab class.
UPDATE: I have received a formal request from someone associated with the lab to remove the photo I have here due to copyright reasons and because “the content of this blogpost is detrimental to both the university INRS and the lab team presented.”
So I am replacing it with a screen grab from the actual website of this bio-research lab, which is public domain, and contains the same picture.

By the way, the last fellow on the right of the front row has a name strikingly similar to one of the two Al-Qaeda suspects arrested today in Toronto. Not saying its the same guy or anything. I wonder what kind of research this team does. How it might be used in the future.
