Diana West: The great mystery of 2011
Diana West writes quite an interesting analysis of an event which, as she points out, got an exponentially less amount of attention that its importance would suggest it deserved. Have a click over and check it out.
Muslims force moscovites to remove their shoes on public streets.
How do you spell ‘dhimmitude’? If ever there was a time for water cannon and vast amounts of soap…
This video was uploaded Nov 20th. There are fleeting subtitles.
In a sort of related post, it seems Muslims get very offended when you ask them to clean up the litter they leave behind on public streets as this article from the Daily Mail shows. As in the video above, residents can’t help but notice that the culturally different Muslims do not hold the same regard for public cleanliness and the environment as the natives of either Moscow or London. But they really dislike having it pointed out.

IAEA says foreign expertise has brought Iran to threshold of nuclear capability

Washington Post:
By Joby Warrick, Published: November 6
Intelligence provided to U.N. nuclear officials shows that Iran’s government has mastered the critical steps needed to build a nuclear weapon, receiving assistance from foreign scientists to overcome key technical hurdles, according to Western diplomats and nuclear experts briefed on the findings.
Documents and other records provide new details on the role played by a former Soviet weapons scientist who allegedly tutored Iranians over several years on building high-precision detonators of the kind used to trigger a nuclear chain reaction, the officials and experts said. Crucial technology linked to experts in Pakistan and North Korea also helped propel Iran to the threshold of nuclear capability, they added.
The officials, citing secret intelligence provided over several years to the International Atomic Energy Agency, said the records reinforce concerns that Iran continued to conduct weapons-related research after 2003 — when, U.S. intelligence agencies believe, Iranian leaders halted such experiments in response to international and domestic pressures.
The U.N. nuclear watchdog is due to release a report this week laying out its findings on Iran’s efforts to obtain sensitive nuclear technology. Fears that Iran could quickly build an atomic bomb if it chooses to has fueled anti-Iran rhetoric and new threats of military strikes. Some U.S. arms-control groups have cautioned against what they fear could be an overreaction to the report, saying there is still time to persuade Iran to change its behavior. Continue Reading →
80,000 Muslims Pray on Moscow Street
See now, in Ottawa that would normally mean about $200,000,000.00 in parking violations. Well it should mean that.
From The Moscow Times:
Tens of thousands of Muslim men knelt shoulder-to-shoulder in prayer on the freezing streets of Moscow on Sunday to celebrate the religious holiday of Eid al-Adha.
Estimates of the number of Muslims living or working in the Russian capital run from 2 million to as high as 5 million, but the city has few mosques.
Police said 170,000 people celebrated the holiday in Moscow, including 80,000 who gathered on the street outside what was once the main mosque. The 100-year-old pastel green Cathedral Mosque was torn down in September and a new mosque being built next to it is still under construction.
Many of those who braved temperatures of minus 8 degrees Celsius to pray on Sunday morning were migrant workers from countries in Central Asia that were once part of the Soviet Union.
“Of course, new mosques are needed,” said Maruv, a shop worker from Tajikistan who gave only his first name. “Look at how many people are in the street, and it’s cold. They have been standing here waiting for the beginning of prayers since 6 a.m., and there are no facilities.”
Police cordoned off the area and set up metal detectors to screen worshippers. The mosque is located next to the Olimpiisky Sports Complex, where this weekend women tennis players from Russia and the Czech Republic played the Fed Cup final.
Eid al-Adha, or “festival of sacrifice,” known as Kurban-Bairam in Russia, is a feast celebrated by Muslims worldwide. The holiday commemorates Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son, Ishmael, to show obedience to God, but God provided a sheep for him to sacrifice instead.

Nazi-saluting nationalists march through Moscow in ‘Take back Russia’ protest over Muslim migrants
- 5,000-strong mob chants ‘Russia for Russians’
Last updated at 4:23 PM on 4th November 2011
Thousands of far-right Nazi-saluting nationalists marched in Moscow today in a ‘Take Back Russia’ protest at Muslim migrants.
Resentment is growing over the migrants from Russia’s Caucasus and the money the Kremlin sends to those troubled regions.
Chanting ‘Russia for Russians’ and ‘Migrants today, occupiers tomorrow,’ about 5,000 demonstrators, mostly young men, marched through a working-class neighbourhood on the outskirts of the capital.

The beach is crowded with men these days. Powerful, muscled Dagestani men, who practice martial arts and wrestle on the littered sand of the Caspian Sea shore in the capital city of Makhachkala. Some sit around, enjoying boiled ears of corn with butter and salt; others play soccer or ride on their buddies’ shoulders in the waves, competing to see who can last longest without collapsing into the water. Rare groups of shy women in long flannel dresses enter the sea holding children by the hand; their long skirts and colorful hijabs immediately soak up salty water, like sponges. Bikinis? There are almost none. The social change here has been fast and radical: just two summers ago, only a smattering of women swam in their long dresses and scarves on Russia’s Caspian Sea beaches. This year, public opinion in the region—the place with the highest level of terrorist attacks in Russia—decided to put an end to the “sinful” display of women’s bodies. The appearance of a rare tourist in a modern swimsuit elicits frowns, and a grumpy comment in the local language. One word is always clear: haram or “forbidden.”
Russia Warns ‘Terrorist Organizations’ May Rise in Syria
From Naharnet

Russia warned on Wednesday that “terrorist organizations” may arise in Syria should President Bashar al-Assad’s regime fall under pressure from ongoing street protests.
“If the Syrian government is unable to hold on to power, there is a high probability that radicals and representatives of terrorist organizations will become entrenched,” Interfax quoted a top foreign ministry official as saying. Continue Reading →
On the anniversary of 9 / 11, the Great Mosque of Moscow demolished
Yeay!
From Asia News:
By Nina Achmatova
For the chief mufti of Russia, it was not well oriented toward Mecca, and needed to be rebuilt. Criticism from other Islamic leaders: “insane” initiative, it was a historic building.
Moscow (AsiaNews) – It was long overdue, but the demolition of the mosque in central Moscow in view of its total reconstruction has raised controversy among the Muslim community and a fresh criticism of its greatest exponent. Built at the beginning of ‘900, the Great Mosque was demolished on 11 September.
Albir Krganov, vice president of the central administration of the Muslims, described the day as “the tragedy of Moscow on the anniversary of the terrorist attack on the Twin Towers.” Quoted by Interfax, the religious leader asked why the demolition took place precisely on 9/11 and “moreover on a Sunday.” Before him, other representatives of the Muslim community had criticized the demolition of the mosque – considered by many as a place of historical importance – railing against the head of the Council of muftis of Russia, Ravil Gainutdin, the project promoter. “It is regrettable that the decision to demolish a historic place of worship has come precisely from those who bear the highest spiritual title, that of Mufti,” read a joint statement by the Islamic leaders, released by Interfax-Religion. Moscow (AsiaNews) – A beach for women only, in accordance with sharia, was opened in Makhachkala, the capital of the republic of Dagestan, a high-level terrorist area but which the Kremlin is trying to turn into a tourist destination, as throughout the North Caucasus.
The name of the beach is special ” Women’s Mountain “, as announced at the presentation ceremony on September 7 by Khanum Aliyeva, deputy mayor of the city on the Caspian Sea.
Access to the beach will be permitted only to women and children under six years of age, while the staff, including lifeguards, will be exclusively women, added Aliyeva quoted by Itar-Tass. He later explained: “Very often due to prejudices, attitudes and lack of security, women can not enjoy the benefits of a swim or sea air. But now more and more women in our country, and abroad, are asking to be able to relax on the beaches of Makhachkala. ”
The ” Women’s Mountain ” is located in the district of Reduktorny and is divided into two parts: one equipped with wooden cabins and the other the beach itself. The structure was financed by private investors with the support of the local the city council. (N.A.)

Ramadan party kills 8 in Chechnya
Those Muslims really know how to throw a party don’t they?
From Reuters:
Eight killed in Chechnya suicide attack: report
A man detonated an explosive device when a police patrol tried to detain him and a second blast rang out soon afterwards, an unidentified police official told the privately-owned agency.
The explosion killed seven police officers, an emergency services worker and wounded at least 16 people, Interfax added.
The scene of the explosion, in a densely populated district of Grozny 50 meters from a local parliament building, was cordoned off by the police. Residents told Reuters they heard gun shots after the explosions.
A decade after Russian forces drove separatists out of power in Chechnya, the Kremlin is still struggling to contain an Islamist insurgency in the north Caucasus. The violence has now spread from Chechnya to other mainly Muslim regions.
None of the Islamist rebel leaders claimed responsibility for the attack.
“Today is the most sacred day for all Muslims. On that day a trained and zombified bandit attempted to carry out a terrorist attack,” Chechnya’s Moscow-backed leader Ramzan Kadyrov told RIA news agency.
“The bandits have shown their real face which only proves that this evil should be eradicated,” Kadyrov added.
