Fake Gaza children’s art in Canadian galleries to try and inspire hatred towards Israel

Meanwhile Terry Jones was refused admittance even though no one has claimed he lied about Islam.

The “demonize Israel” campaign was in full swing at the Hamilton Public Library recently thanks to an exhibit organized by Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME) supposedly depicting Gaza children’s art.

While there’s nothing wrong with displaying political art, except in this case, this “artwork” was not drawn by children at all, but rather by sophisticated artists trying to mimic a child’s style, in order to better pull at the heartstrings of a Western audience.

The unanimous opinion of experts is that these drawings – which depict various scenes of alleged “Israeli brutality” – are far too sophisticated to have been drawn by children. Contrary to CJPME President Thomas Woodley’s claims as published in the Hamilton Spectator, this artwork cannot be considered “authentic”. The symbolism, detail, colouring and motifs all indicate the work of trained artists imitating the style of a child. For example, those attending this exhibit should note how the dynamic brushstrokes are well conceived and controlled, and how the people are drawn in a clear single-line outline. No child does that.

Two rockets explode near Sderot, followed by another rocket in Netivot; No injuries or damage reported in either incident

Attack on the south continues: Three Qassam rockets exploded Tuesday, two near Sderot and one in the town of Netivot. In both cases, the rockets hit open areas and no injuries or damage were reported.

Against the backdrop of political unease, in light of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu‘s Tuesday announcement that the elections for the Knesset will be held earlier than expected, Sderot Mayor David Buskila commented: “Israel is heading toward election when there are still unresolved defense issues.”

Related stories:

“The continuous rocket fire towards Israel indicates that something has happened to our ability to deter,” Buskila continued. “We shouldn’t let those who threaten us determine the agenda. At the moment, they’re the ones who decide that we won’t get any sleep at night, when we will wake up, or when we will run to the shelters – and we have no say in the matter.

“I think that when it comes to this threat, it would be best if the current government would hold office for one more year, until the end of its term, so that it would be able to address those issues and find a solution.”

The IDF struck targets in Gaza Monday in response to a barrage of more than 30 rockets and mortar shells fired into farming districts in southern Israel by Hamas and Islamic Jihad.

The IDF response involved both Air Force and tanks.

An army source said that a tank directed fire at a Hamas position hidden inside a mosque located in southern Gaza. The source added that Hamas often uses “religious sites as cover for its terrorist activities against Israelis.”

Three members of the Multinational Force & Observers (MFO) in the Sinai Peninsula were wounded on Friday, when dozens of Bedouin militants attacked their headquarters in northern Sinai.

In the early evening, an angry mob broke down the wall of the North Camp base using jeeps and commercial vehicles, according to Egyptian media reports.

Eye-witnesses said that the militants managed to penetrate the fence of the base and set fire to a vehicle belonging to the peacekeeping forces, an observation tower at the entrance of the base, electronic equipment, communication devices and ammunition that were at the scene.

Less than one year after closing its headquarters in Damascus, Hamas’s “outside” leadership has found a new home in the Egyptian capital of Cairo.

Hamas leaders are split between Gaza, where they took violent control in 2007, the West Bank, where they seek to gain control, and elsewhere in the region.

London-based daily Al-Hayat reported Tuesday that Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood administration has agreed to open a Hamas office in eastern Cairo and establish a joint committee with Hamas to discuss issues of security along the Gaza-Egypt border.

Hamas’s Gaza Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh will meet with his counterpart Hisham Kandil in Egypt on Thursday, the daily said.

The unflattering comparison that Mitt Romney drew between the accomplishments of Palestinian may have some merit.

“A Newsweek investigation reveals abuses at almost every level of the Palestinian Authority. Many top ministers staff their offices with cronies, dole out valuable contracts without oversight and create their own monopolies, which crush competition and drive up prices paid by hard-pressed consumers. The courts are powerless… 14 separate police forces enforce the whims of PA officials rather than laws aimed at protecting ordinary Palestinians.” – Newsweek International, June 19, 2000

If you trawl through comparative global economic and social statistics, it is not difficult to paint a bleak picture of Arab failure, based on a broad pattern of underperformance in investment, productivity, trade, education, social development and even culture [sic]. The total manufacturing exports of the entire Arab world have recently been below those of the Philippines (with less than one-third the population) or Israel (with a population not much bigger than Riyadh’s” – The Economist, July 23, 2009

The Real Obstacle to Peace in the Middle East (August 16, 2012)

This is grotesquely underreported. All the people who chant that Israel is an apartheid state, yet if a Muslim sells land to a Jewish person in Islamic controlled areas, they kill him. They kill him. And yet, none of the left see how that is genuine apartheid, perhaps far more blunt than the original South African variety.

Why does a man spitting on a girl at a bus stop in Israel prompt international headlines and stir passionate criticisms of Israel’s democracy, but the unconscionable act of sentencing a Palestinian man to death for selling property to a Jew inspires the media’s detached neutrality?

The Real Obstacle to Peace in the Middle East

By: Michelle Whiteman, Quebec Regional Director                                                        August 16, 2012

Recently, a senior Palestinian Authority official fell to his death from the third floor window of a Palestinian Authority (PA) Military Intelligence building in Ramallah. Mansour Oussama Hussein was in custody to face charges of treason for taking part in land transactions to Israelis. Palestinian Authority officials assert he committed suicide, a claim his family disputes. While the circumstances surrounding Mr. Hussein’s death are unclear, Palestinian Authority law is unequivocal. The sale of land by Palestinians to Israelis, whether in Israel or the West Bank, is an offence punishable by death. Indeed, this past April, the PA sentenced Muhammad Shahala, a former intelligence official, to death for the crime of selling property to Jews. Shahala was reportedly tortured into confessing, after several Jewish families moved into a house across from the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron. An urgent international appeal on Shahala’s behalf was issued by leaders of the Jewish community in Hebron who, in a letter to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, stated: “It is incumbent on the entire international community, which views Mahmood Abbas and the PA as a viable Middle East peace partner to publicly reject such acts of legal murder, when the crime is nothing more than property sales. What would be the reaction to a law in the US, England, France or Switzerland, forbidding property sales to Jews”?

In describing the crime of selling land to Jews, a law enacted by the Palestinian Authority, the Associated Press and The Canadian Press reported that “Palestinian society views such acts as treason because it weakens their quest for an independent state”.  Really? How does the sale of real estate by a Palestinian inside Israel proper compromise the quest for an independent Palestinian state? And how do Jewish settlements, which comprise less than 2% of the entire territory of the West Bank compromise a future Palestinian state?

HAIFA, Israel –  Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh has no problem calling for the destruction of Israel and blaming it for attacks linked to his own party, but when his relative needs life-saving heart surgery, only Israeli doctors will do.

The stunning hypocrisy comes to light after five Hamas-backed terrorists allegedly killed 16 Egyptian soldiers in the Sinai Peninsula that borders Gaza. Although evidence points to a Hamas-backed terror operation, Haniyeh inexplicably blamed it on Israel. The suspects were later killed by Israeli Defense Forces when they tried to cross the Kerem Shalom border.

Militants attack Egyptian border post

CBC:

Assault on checkpoint kills 15 guards

The Associated Press

State TV said the attack was carried out by Islamist militants.

A security official said seven other guards were wounded in the attack, which took place around sunset, when the troops were having the traditional meal at the end of the daily Ramadan fast.

The official said the attackers seized an armoured vehicle before driving away. He spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not allowed to speak to reporters.

The Israeli military said two vehicles were commandeered by the attackers, including one that crashed into Israel, where it blew up.

In a statement, Israeli Defence Minister Ehud Barak said Israel’s military and the internal security agency “thwarted an attack that could have injured many. The militants’ attack methods again raise the need for determined Egyptian action to enforce security and prevent terror in the Sinai.”

Initial reports said seven guards were killed in the attack, but emergency services official Ahmed el-Ansari later told Egypt’s news agency that 15 had been killed. He said seven had been wounded by gunfire.

President Mohammed Morsi called for an emergency meeting with the military following the attack, State TV said.
