A Somali paedophile has been given thousands of pounds by a human rights court – and released on to the streets.

Ministers have spent more than a decade trying and failing to deport Mustafa Abdi, who is thought to have cost taxpayers more than £600,000 in jail costs and legal aid.

But yesterday Strasbourg judges ordered the British government to pay the convicted child rapist thousands of pounds in damages and legal costs.

Four Dutch-Moroccan women, Rabea, Zohra, Ibtisam and Saïda, were all sexually abused by members of their families: their fathers, uncles, brothers or cousins.

After years of silence, they have decided to speak out because they know that many other Muslim women suffer the same fate. A care worker: “Taboos, secrecy, silence, shame and a closed community are almost a recipe for sexual abuse.”

The idea of ‘family honour’ meant that Rabea, Zohra, Ibtisam and Saïda kept their mouths shut. Now they are telling their stories to try and break the taboo surrounding sexual abuse in Muslim families. They no longer see themselves as victims. Their mission is to help other women who are in trouble now.

No criminal report – no figures – no help

Young Muslim women who are abused do not figure in reports. Neither do their abusers. Zohra Acherrat, psychiatrist with the ‘Fier Fryslân’ emergency shelter in Friesland in the north of the Netherlands:

“Muslim men are underrepresented in vice cases. That’s why we tend to overlook things. In most cases, Muslim girls don’t file a complaint. That’s why the abuse goes unnoticed.”

It’s not just in the Netherlands that incest goes unreported. Support workers in Morocco and Denmark know that the abuse goes on there too, but again there are no available figures.

And no figures means no help. Willem Timmer from the National Centre for Expertise on Honour-related Violence (Landelijk Expertisecentrum Eergerelateerd Geweld):

“We don’t draw conclusions from the stories of individual women but from research based on hundreds of dossiers. That leads me to conclude that there isn’t a higher incidence of incest in the Muslim community than in the native Dutch community.”

Police probe rape of 7-year-old in New Delhi

NEW DELHI (AP) — Police are investigating the rape of a 7-year-old girl inside a state-run school in the Indian capital.

A Delhi police spokesman said Friday that police registered a rape case and were questioning teachers and security guards at the school. The spokesman spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media.

Dr. Sanjay Kumar, who helped treat the girl, said she had injuries consistent with rape.

An African migrant who lured a vulnerable schoolgirl to a house for sex cannot be deported – because he is a member of a  ‘persecuted tribe’.

Jumaa Kater Saleh, 24, was convicted as part of a predatory sex gang for the ‘deliberate, targeted abuse of a young and vulnerable girl’, who was aged 13 at the time.

But he was allowed to remain in  Britain under human rights law because he faced mistreatment if sent back  to Sudan.

An 11-year-old girl was branded with an ‘M’ for Mohammed on her buttocks to show she ‘belonged’ to a member of a child sex ring, the Old Bailey heard today.

The child was repeatedly subjected to ‘torture sex’ sessions where she was bound and gagged before being raped by members of the gang, a jury was told.

The girl is the youngest victim of nine men who allegedly hung around outside schools and care homes to recruit vulnerable victims they could use and abuse.

The court heard how the girl had been ‘sold’ by an unidentified man to an alleged member of the sex ring, Mohammed Karrar, in mid-2004.

After what she describes as a ‘nicey-nicey honeymoon period’ in which she was lavished with gifts including perfume, she was then plied with hard drugs.

It is alleged that Karrar then pimped her out, raping her in her own living room and inviting others to do the same.

    • A recent college graduate has been arrested after he told an undercover FBI agent posing as the father of two girls, aged 10 and 13, that he wanted to have sex with them and impregnate one.

Agents swooped on Dwipin Thomas Maliackal, 24, after he travelled from his home in Seminole, Florida to the Orlando area to meet the man and his daughters.

He had met the undercover agent on an incest chat room on December 7 where Maliackal, who graduated from University of South Florida this summer, used the name ‘Horny_Indian’.

East London men charged over child prostitution

Four men have been charge with a number of sexual offences including child prostitution and rape.

The group, all from from east London were arrested and charged by officers from the Metropolitan Police’s Trafficking and Prostitution Unit.

Officers made the arrests in the early hours of Thursday morning, acting on intelligence from Essex Police.

A statement from the Metropolitan Police said four victims aged between 16 and 18 have been identified.

Naeem Ahmed, 25, of Westminster Gardens, Barking, was charged with controlling child prostitution, inciting child prostitution and five counts of rape.

Anas Mir Iqbal, 25, from Newham Way, Newham, was charged with one count of paying a child prostitute for sexual services.

Nabeel Ahmed, 23, of Chadwell Heath Lane, Romford, was charged with six counts of rape, and Hassan Raza, 23, of Westminster Gardens, Barking, was charged with one count of sexual touching.

They were due to appear at Barking Magistrates’ Court.

Despite allegations of child molestation against a number of local clerics in the city, not one suspect has been detained due to a lack of solid evidence in each case, according to the police.

In the most recent case, allegedly committed by the founder of the Islamic educational Darul Ilmi Al-fikri Foundation in Pondok Cabe, South Jakarta, the police said they had no legitimate reason to arrest the suspect.

South Jakarta Police detectives chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Hermawan said on Tuesday that according to Criminal Code Procedures, an arrest could only be made with two pieces of evidence: physical proof and a witness statement.

“Physical examinations of the [victims] did not present anything unusual. Also, the witnesses presented did not directly see the alleged assaults taking place, they only received verbal reports from the victims,” he said, adding that the police had not stopped seeking evidence for the case.

The police named Mika Maulana a suspect on Nov. 26, following a report filed by a teacher at the foundation, for allegedly molesting three teenage girls, aged 14, 16 and 17, between January and September. The police, however, soon released him, much to the anger of the victims’ families.

The 26-year-old married man had first asked the girl to perform a sex act when she was just 12 years old, Wolverhampton Crown Court was told.

Sultan, of Victoria Avenue in Wellington, was yesterday jailed for seven years after the court was told of a string of sex-related offences with children and youngsters.

He was told he would have to serve an extended period on licence and banned from working with children for life.

A rapist who attacked a 12-year-old girl has today been jailed for 14 years.

Ahmed Shirinzoy, attacked the victim at an address in Hayes. He had claimed that he had visited a friend who had given him a spiked drink, causing memory loss.

The 22-year-old was sentenced to 14 years in prison after he was convicted of two counts of rape last month following a trial at Isleworth Crown Court

The court heard that on May 29 Shirinzoy was lodging at the address when his victim returned home.

The defendants are accused of committing various sexual offences separately against the teenager between 2008 and 2009.

Bury magistrates committed the case to Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court when the case will next be heard on November 30 for a preliminary hearing.
