Dr. Steve Tourloukis filed an application against the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board in which he sought a court order declaring that as a parent , he is the final authority over his children’s education. (Stan Behal/Toronto Sun)

A Hamilton father has launched a court battle against the local public school board, accusing education officials of refusing to accommodate his Christian beliefs on marriage, family and sexuality.

Steve Tourloukis, who has two children in elementary schools in the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board (HWDSB), said he believes the board attempts to accommodate parents of other faiths, including Muslims and Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Tourloukis said he is supportive of these other families, but wants the same treatment.

Banning the cross at work is an ‘attack’ on the Christian faith

I would like to thank EDL Buck, Fjordman, Hermes, Michael Laudahn, and many many more people who are kind enough to send me important news links each day, and who I do not mention or thank often enough. Thank you very much.

If the right of employers to forbid such acts of expression as wearing a cross at work is upheld, where will it end – asks United Kingdom Independence Party leader

The case of four Christians who have taken cases to the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg has provided us with one of the most extraordinary sights: that of Counsel for the United Kingdom attacking the right of people to wear an outward assertion of their faith at work. Nadia Eweida, a British Airways worker from Twickenham in south west London, was sent home in 2006 after refusing to remove a necklace with a cross or hide it from view.

An employment tribunal ruled Eweida, a Coptic Christian originally from Egypt, had not suffered religious discrimination but the airline changed its uniform policy after the case to allow all religious symbols, including crosses. Nurse Shirley Chaplin, from Exeter, was moved to a paperwork role by the Royal Devon and Exeter National Health Service Trust, in Devon, after refusing to remove a necklace bearing a crucifix.

People in these islands have been wearing crosses to evince their faith on and off since the third century AD, when Christianity was first practised here in Roman times. Though some wear a cross as an accessory, to the vast majority of those who wear a modest crucifix either around the neck or as a lapel badge – it is no more than a small and discreet statement to the world that the wearer is a practising Christian. For those of faith and those of no faith, it is part and parcel of our British culture and as such part of the fabric of the British nation.

In reality, it is no more and no less than the exercise of the right of freedom of expression. If the right of employers to forbid such acts of expression is upheld, where will it end? Will it be in order to forbid those who wear charity wristbands from such a display? Will employees wearing lapel pins indicating membership of, say, a political party or a trades union – or their former regiment – be similarly forbidden? Yet, now wearing a crucifix is to become the object of state intolerance.

Interpol and Swedish authorities aid Saudi Embassy to hunt convert

If this story is as advertised, it is the second time I am aware of that Interpol has been used to enforce sharia law, and both times by the Saudis. Interpol arrested one man who was accused of using social media network, ‘Twitter’ to type something which was antithetical to Islamic supremacy. This of course is a crime to Muslims and to Islam as a system which demands utter primacy among all people and systems.

Interpol arrested this man for the Saudis in Malaysia even though his ‘crime’ was not one typically thought of as jurisdictional for a Western type law enforcement agency.

In late July Saudi media reported that a Saudi woman named Maryam (28) had illegally both embraced Christianity and fled the country. Her family have charged two men — a Lebanese and a Saudi national — with complicity in her conversion and escape. The men will face court on 15 September. Whilst a woman claiming to be Maryam told an Arabic TV channel that she was converted through a dream and has found peace in Christianity, Saudi media maintain it is all either fraud or coercion. The woman’s family has suggested she is a victim of human traffickers. Interpol is reportedly coordinating with the Saudi Embassy in Stockholm and Swedish authorities to find and return the ‘girl’ before her ‘kidnappers’ can move her to another country. Please pray.

Since late July Saudi media have been buzzing with reports that a 28-year-old Saudi woman has embraced Christianity and fled the country, staying initially in a church in Lebanon before moving on to Sweden. According to the Saudi Gazette, the woman, Maryam, appeared on an Arabic TV channel saying she was tired of performing prayers and fasting during Ramadan — rituals that never brought her any benefit. She also criticised Saudi Arabia’s Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice. She claimed to have been converted through a dream and said that though she was raised to hate Judaism and Christianity she has come to love those religions since finding peace in Christianity.

Pharmacist who asked colleague what her favourite sex position is LET OFF at tribunal because he had a ‘restrictive Muslim background’

Daily Mail:

  • Professional panel accepted Khalil Jamil’s conduct was not sexually-motivated
  • He claimed his strict Muslim background meant he lacked basic understanding of appropriate workplace behaviour
  • Jamil was cleared of professional misconduct and was instead given an official warning

Warning: Khalil Jamil blamed his behaviour on his restrictive backgroundWarning: Khalil Jamil blamed his behaviour on his restrictive background

A pharmacist who made crude remarks to three of his female colleagues has escaped with a warning after a panel heard he came from a ‘restrictive Muslim background’ and was unaware of the offence his conduct had caused.

Khalil Jamil asked one of the women about her favourite love-making position and quizzed another about the mating habits of her horses – but a professional panel ruled his behaviour was not sexually motivated.

The General Pharmaceutical Council panel found Jamil acted inappropriately by making the comments and standing too close to his assistants.

However, they accepted that his background in a strict Muslim community meant he was unfamiliar to working in such an open environment with women and his basic social skills meant he lacked understanding of appropriate conduct.

As the remarks were not sexually motivated the panel cleared Jamil of misconduct and gave him an official warning.

It also took into consideration the fact that Jamil had remedied his actions by attending a ‘dignity at work’ course.

Panel chairman Patrick Malmo QC said: ‘He felt the source of this behaviour in 2009, was that he comes from a very restrictive background, with little social life, and none at all outside of his own community.

‘He lacked social skills, and had little knowledge of how one should be when working with colleagues.

‘He was unable to distinguish between friendliness and over familiarity.’

Mr Malmo added: ‘We do not think there is a serious risk of this kind of conduct being repeated.

‘Although we do not find the registrant impaired, we have the ability to issue a warning, and given the circumstances of this case, we believe it is necessary to do so.’

Canada has a specific law banning speech which calls abortion into question. Who knew!

For the record, I am posting this because of the points Ezra Levant raises in this video and not as a statement of position on Abortion. I personally do not wish to use this platform for issues other than freedom of speech and Islam/immigration and irrational leftism. However this video does speak both to totalitarian leftism and freedom of speech.

The abortion issue is for another place.

Michael Coren expresses concern about police today in the Western world.

I find this to be a rather bad omen. When classical conservatives such as Mr. Coren or Lowell Green (more on that later) who have always been champions of the police and staunch supporters of them start to publicly question their motives and strategy or even entertain the notion that the strategy of police is other than as defenders of our rights and the law I would call that a very bad sign for Western secular liberal democracy.

“Obama deeply concerned” about what it calls a “politically-motivated prosecution,” (re Pussy Riot)

I wonder if a punk band broke into a mosque uninvited and started singing punk songs about how awful Islam is, even if they told the absolute verbatim truth about Mohamed and so on, and also included how pissed off they where at the Obama administration for its complicity in being the single biggest force for the reduction of freedom and safety for all non-Muslim groups in the world, again, arguably very true, and had many of their supporters also enter the mosque and trash the place up during the performance, would Obama make sure that no prosecution took place?

Or would he label it terrorism and go public with how horrible these peoples actions where and apologize to Muslims till the crease in his pants faded a tiny bit around the knee.

I think we all know the answer. And frankly, I gotta go with Putin on this one.

Check this account of the actions of these women. Video of the attack, (and attack it was as one cannot call it a performance when it was not asked for, and specifically not wanted) below.

US Marine arrested, allegedly for his “patriotic facebook posts”. ***But actually because his FB page is psychotic***

New information is that his facebook page genuinely does show material that should be of concern to authorities in some ways. This person likely needs a psychiatric evaluation if indeed one can be justified at all in the interests of preventing a mass killing as we have seen recently. I think it is important to look at this incident in the light of what his facebook page did say, which from what I have been told would be a red light to anyone.

In the light of free speech absolutism it should still not be grounds for arrest. But a psych eval doesn’t sound like such a bad idea.

I will likely delete this post in the next 24 hours.

Eeyore.

I don’t know what, if there is one, the back story is. Based on the Obama administrations cooperation with the Istanbul process and their willingness to use punitive measures against Americans who insult Islam (see Rev Jones) it would not surprise me if this is as advertised.

Another loud drunken racist rant on London public transport. Only this one won’t see the inside of a court let alone jail

I have an idea. Someone in the UK, would have to be a brave soul, should wait a month or so and see if this woman gets arrested and or convicted and jailed etc. When she doesn’t this brave soul should get on a bus and do the exact same rant, I mean word for word identical. (some acting skills would help) as this woman with as much venom as she displays and make sure its filmed and youtubed. This would be a white person, but also vilifying white people and talking about how great it is to be black. Then go home and wait for the police.

That should be enough evidence of selective enforcement to start the long overdue revolution.
