David G. Littman explains in the United Nations how Fatah reasserts its original 1968 Charter in spite of pledges in the Oslo Accords and elsewhere to amend it, how this Charter calls for all-out warfare against Israel and ethnic cleansing of Jews, and mentions examples of racism taught openly in the PA authority schools.

UN Official Admits Posting “Strongly Anti-Semitic” Cartoon

There is lots before this. UN official posts clearly Nazi era antisemetic cartoon. UN official publishes apology to Jewish people, as well as dogs with the overall effect of simply heaping more insults to Jewish people. The same UN official has a history of anti-Israel remarks which go well beyond normal political criticism.

Now, we have this. From UN Watch:

UN Watch Calling for Richard Falk to be Fired

GENEVA, July 7 — After the UN Human Rights Council’s special rapporteur on the Palestinian territories finally admitted to posting a “strongly anti-Semitic” cartoon on his blog, in which Jews and Americans were depicted as bloodthirsty dogs, UN Watch today called on UN rights chief Navi Pillay to lead efforts to fire him. Click here for Falk statement and timeline.

Richard Falk’s “apology” raises serious questions that go to both his judgment and his character. Finding himself in a corner of his own making, he states that, “I oppose any denigration of a people based on ethnicity, race, religion,” as if this were a special badge of honor, and then adds to ethnicity, race, religion, “stage of development”—which is not a human rights issue.

Even stranger is the banality that follows, “We must . . .. treat animals with as much respect as possible.” Falk here appears not only to be equating animals with human beings, but to be apologizing for his cartoon’s insult to Jews as well as dogs.  Do these mutterings truly befit someone the UN Human Rights Council has chosen to employ as an expert on human rights?

This is only the latest of several Falk blog posts this year which have harmed the reputation of the UN as a whole.

In January he implied American complicity in the 9/11 attacks—Falk is a revered figure among proponents of the 9/11 conspiracy theory—while last month he called UN chief Ban Ki-moon a shameless secretary-general.” Continue Reading →

UN moves away from campaign against ‘defamation of religion’

From Catholic Culture.org

The UN’s Human Rights council has adopted a resolution endorsing religious freedom, distancing itself from previous resolutions that condemned “defamation of religion.”

The UN body made its decision after hearing arguments that the campaign against “defamation of religion” had encouraged religious fundamentalists, especially in the Islamic world, to raise accusations of blasphemy against those who denied their religious beliefs.

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton welcomed the new UN resolution, noting that it “supports approaches that do not limit freedom of expression or infringe on the freedom of religion.”

Why is the UN silent on Qaddafi ties and crimes?

From UN Watch:

The head of the London School of Economics has resigned over his ties to the Qaddafi regime. Rock stars Beyonce, Nelly Furtado and Mariah Carey have expressed remorse for their paid peformances at Qaddafi family parties. Former Egyptian minister of culture Gaber Asfour renounced his 2010 “Gaddafi International Award for Literature.” Only at the UN, however, is no one yet willing to take any responsibility for their institutional embrace of the Qaddafi regime. In the plenary of the UN Human Rights Council yesterday, UN Watch’s Hillel Neuer urged U.N. rights chief Navi Pillay to begin the soul-searching; she refused to respond. Hall of Shame: UN Human Rights Council to adopt report praising Gaddafi regime

Hall of Shame: UN Human Rights Council to adopt report praising Gaddafi regime

GENEVA, Feb. 28 – UN Watch, which heads the Global NGO Campaign to Remove Libya from the UN Human Rights Council, today called on US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, EU foreign minister Catherine Ashton and UN rights chief Navi Pillay to urge the council president to cancel a planned resolution praising Libya’s human rights record, scheduled to be adopted in the current session.

Despite having just voted to suspend Libya from its ranks (to be finalized by the UNGA tomorrow), the UN Human Rights Council, according to the agenda of its current session, is planning to “consider and adopt the final outcome of the review of the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya.” According to the council’s timetable, the lengthy report hailing Libya’s human rights record will be presented on March 18, and then adopted by the council at the end of the month. The report, which the UN has published on the council website, is the outcome of a recent session that was meant to review Libya’s human rights record.

“Although the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) mechanism is often described by council defenders as its saving grace, the vast majority of council members used it to falsely praise the Gaddafi regime for its alleged promotion of human rights,” said Hillel Neuer, executive director of UN Watch, a Geneva-based human rights monitoring organization. “The report is a fraud, an insult to Libya’s victims, and should be withdrawn immediately.”  (See numerous quotes of praise below.)

The report also includes praise of Libya’s record by the regime’s representatives (click here for quotes). “After Libya’s UN diplomats have defected and admitted that the Gaddafi regime is a gross violator of human rights, it would be nonsensical for the UN to now adopt this false report.”

“We call on the council president to acknowledge that the session on Libya was a fraud, withdraw the report, and schedule a new session in which council members would tell the truth about the Gaddafi regime’s heinous crimes, which were committed over four decades yet ignored by the UN,” said Neuer. “Libya’s long-suffering victims deserve no less.”

The UN report’s summary notes that delegations “commended the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya,” and that they “noted with appreciation the country’s commitment to upholding human rights on the ground.”

Following are quotes from the report.

Oh how things change, Ban Ki-Moon is now raving mad at the Libyan for murdering his people, what happened to Gadaffi? Follow Israel news briefs on and

Tuesday, United States Ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice called on the UN to fire Richard Falk, a UN human rights official who has been harshly critical of Israel. The U.S. wants Falk fired over comments he made regarding the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

Falk wrote in a blog this month that there was an “apparent cover-up” by U.S. authorities of facts about the attacks.

Human Rights Rogues Are UN-fit to Serve

By Hillel Neuer

January 21, 2011

Why does the United Nations’ Human Rights Council turn a blind eye to systematic repression in countries such as Cuba, Iran and Zimbabwe? Here’s one reason: Its Advisory Committee, meeting this week in Geneva, is dominated by apologists for the world’s worst dictators.

The Obama administration is rightly calling to abolish this body of 18 advisers. It’s time for other UN stakeholders to do the same.

Expert: Halima Warzazi, who shielded Saddam from censure

According to the UN’s website, the Advisory Committee is a “think-tank” whose goal is “to ensure that the best possible expertise is made available to the council.” The experts, we are told, possess “recognized competence and experience in the field of human rights,” “high moral standing” and “impartiality.” Their decisions, the UN would have us understand, are based on principle, evidence and logic.

In reality, nothing could be further from the truth. A quick glance at three of the committee’s leading members — all chosen by politicized regional groups — makes it clear that they are guided by an extreme ideological agenda.

Expert: Miguel D’Escoto Brockmann, hugging Ahmadinejad

First is Halima Warzazi, chosen by her peers last year as chairwoman. In the halls of the UN, the former Moroccan diplomat is noticeable for her brightly colored, traditional robes. Those who know UN history, however, remember her for something else.

In 1988, the precursor to the Advisory Committee was considering a resolution to condemn Saddam Hussein for having gassed thousands of Kurds in Halabja. It was an auspicious moment. Two years before Saddam would brutalize Kuwait through torture, murder and rape, and three years before he would kill more than 30,000 Kurds and Shiites, here was an opportunity for a UN body to show the Iraqi dictator that the eyes of the world were upon him.

But it was not to be. Warzazi initiated a “no action” motionto kill the resolution – and won the vote. Saddam went on to murder thousands more. So much for this adviser’s “high moral standing.”

Then there is Jean Ziegler, who served last year as Warzazi’s vice-chair. The former socialist politician from Switzerland has authored numerous books accusing America and the West of being responsible for the world’s ills.

Expert: Jean Ziegler, seen on the left in 1985 meeting with Libyan dictator Moammar Khadafy

Ziegler is a life-long cheerleader for Fidel Castro. In 2002, he praised the dictator of Zimbabwe, saying, “Mugabe has history and morality with him.”

In 1989, as reported by Time magazine, Ziegler co-founded the Moammar Khadafy International Prize for Human Rights, with $10 million from the Libyan regime. Awardees have included Castro, Hugo Chavez and Louis Farrakhan. In 2002, the prize was given to convicted French Holocaust denier Roger Garaudy – and to Ziegler himself.

Finally, there is the newest expert adviser, Nicaragua’s Miguel D’Escoto Brockmann. In the 1980s, he was foreign minister under the Sandinista regime of Daniel Ortega.

In 2008-2009, Brockmann served as president of the UN General Assembly, nominated by Ortega after he regained power. While there, Brockmann named his own official advisers, including Anti-American guru Noam Chomsky, Khadafy’s U.S. lawyer Ramsey Clark and Hamas sympathizer Richard Falk. In 2009, Brockmann designated Castro a “World Hero of Solidarity.”

In 2008, after Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad used the opening of the UN to attack America and “deceitful” Zionists, Brockmann rushed to hug him.

And in 2009, he sided with Sudan’s President Omar Hassan al Bashir after he was indicted for genocide, saying the charge was “racist.”

Warzazi, Ziegler, Brockmann — these are the “impartial” and “competent” experts guiding the Human Rights Council, whose 47 members already include China, Libya and Saudi Arabia. Not even George Orwell could have imagined this.

Neuer is an international lawyer and executive director of UN Watch, a human rights group in Geneva.

…and they will still carry rainbow flags at anti-Israel rallies.

FOOMF, who sends me many of the best videos I post here, sent me this great one of someone who recently started to realize who and what the UN actually is:

UN General Assembly Votes To Allow Gays To Be Executed Without Cause

Post image for UN General Assembly Votes To Allow Gays To Be Executed Without Cause

Gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people were once again subject to the whims of homophobia and religious and cultural extremism this week, thanks to a United Nations vote that removed “sexual orientation” from a resolution that protects people from arbitrary executions. In other words, the UN General Assembly this week voted to allow LGBT people to be executed without cause.

According to the International Gay and Lesbians Human Rights Commission, the UN General Assembly’s Third Committee on Social, Cultural and Humanitarian issues removed “sexual orientation” from a resolution addressing extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions this past week in a vote that was overwhelming represented by a majority of African, Middle East and Carribean nations.  For a UN committee that addresses human rights questions that affect people all over the world, by removing protections for LGBT persons from a category of arbitrary executions,  belies the objective and purpose of a committee whose  focus this year is “on the examination of human rights questions,” according to its website.

A number of LGBT human rights advocates were surprised by the decidedly lop-sided vote, including Mark Bromley, the chair of the Council on Global Equality, a Washington, D.C. based organization that brings together human rights organizations, LGBT groups, philanthropists and corporate leaders to ”encourage a clearer and stronger American voice on human rights concerns impacting LGBT communities around the world.”

“I was very surprised by the vote,” said Bromley, who had been in contact with the United States Mission to the United Nations delegation all day Tuesday, who were trying to beat back efforts to strip sexual orientation from the resolution.  But because the U.S. supports capital punishment, they usually abstain from voting on this resolution, thus they are in a weakened position with one arm tied behind their backs, according to Bromley. “But that said, the State Department did everything possible to beat back the efforts to repeal protections for LGBT persons,” he added.

I would like to offer the following to all who were surprised by the vote.

Stop studying Marxism to the exclusion of all else. Have a look at the largest voting block at the UN, specifically the OIC and its agenda. Ask yourself why the UN and UN HRC is so lopsidedly against Israel in every way. Then ask yourself what gay rights are like within Israel and in the 50 odd Islamic nations that surround it and then ask yourselves why you are surprised. I know gay people, like Jews, are not a hive mind but I can’t help but notice that most gay organizations are stridently leftist, and pro Islamic. It may be time for gay people to follow less blindly the leftist-Islamic narrative and determine what really is in your own interests.
