Luton ‘al-Qaeda inspired’ terrorists jailed for 44 years

Four al Qaeda-inspired terrorists who plotted to blow up a TA base in Luton with a bomb strapped to a remote controlled car were jailed for 44-and-a-half years today (April 18).

The Luton-based terror cell also discussed attacking MI5, the US Air Force, the English Defence League and The Mall in Luton.

Ringleader Zahid Iqbal, 31, of Bishopscote Road, helped organise for Jihadists to travel to Pakistan for extremism training through an al-Qaeda contact he had there.

Cops are seeking these two men (above) who were spotted near the site of the Boston blasts.

Investigators probing the deadly Boston Marathon bombings are circulating photos of two men spotted chatting near the packed finish line, The Post has learned.

In the photos being distributed by law-enforcement officials among themselves, one of the men is carrying a blue duffel bag. The other is wearing a black backpack in the first photo, taken at 10:53 a.m., but it is not visible in the second, taken at 12:30 p.m.

Federal Courthouse Evacuated After Bomb Threat

BOSTON (CBS) – The Moakley Federal Courthouse has been evacuated because of a bomb threat.

WBZ-TV’s Karen Anderson was inside the courthouse when she was told to evacuate. Guards were reportedly calling the evacuation, “code red.”

Sources tell WBZ-TV a bomb threat was called into the courthouse.

CNN: Arrest Has Been Made in Boston Bombings

?Update: CNN is reporting an arrest has been made.

Authorities have an image of a suspect carrying, and possibly leaving, a black bag at the site of one of the bombings at the Boston Marathon on Monday, CNN and the Boston Globe reported Wednesday afternoon.

Sources told CNN officials identified the suspect using footage from a Lord & Taylor department store and a television station.

MEMRI Clip on the Boston attack. ‘it was a message’

To be honest, I do not know who did it. While I am inclined to think it was jihadis backed by Saudi cash the fact that it was done somewhat competently makes me reserve a tiny bit of reasonable doubt that it actually could have been done by a right wing group, as they tend to actually accomplish what they set out to do.

But what I think is actually much more important than who did it, is who is happy about it. I have been searching for clips of muslims dancing in the streets and passing out sweets, an indicator much more of what ideology is deleterious than merely who did this heinous act. So far, the clips I have seen have been of questionable origin. The one going around the most looks to me like a muslim wedding in some small town and is being misrepresented as dancing Muslims over this attack. This is very unfortunate for all of us.

First of all, my deepest condolences to the victims of this terrorist act. There are no words that can counterweight the tragedy of this. There may however, be future actions that those who abhor these kinds of deeds can take to discourage them in the future. But that is not ours to commission.

BOSTON — Two explosions shattered the euphoria of the Boston Marathon finish line on Monday, sending authorities out on the course to carry off the injured while the stragglers in the 26.2-mile trek from Hopkinton were rerouted away from the smoking site of the blasts.

A federal law-enforcement source told The Post there are at least 12 dead and nearly 50 injured. Fox News reported that Massachusetts General Hospital was treating 10 people with amputated limbs and all operating rooms were on hold.

Law-enforcement sources said at least the first explosion occurred in the lobby of the Fairmont Hotel.

“There were two bombs that exploded near the finish line in today’s Boston Marathon,” The Boston Marathon’s official Facebook page read. “We are working with law enforcement to understand what exactly has happened.”

Somali and Canadian security forces are probing whether a former York University student was part of a team of suicide bombers who attacked Mogadishu on Sunday, shattering the capital’s calm and killing and injuring dozens.

Intelligence, police and government sources in Mogadishu and Ottawa told the Star that they were investigating reports that Mahad Ali Dhore was one of the nine Al Shabab militants who stormed the capital’s courthouse Sunday as part of the well-co-ordinated attack, which included a separate car bomb targeting Turkish aid workers.

The al-Qaeda inspired terror cell, from Luton, also discussed attacking MI5, buying guns or driving a 4×4 car into crowded places, Woolwich Crown Court heard.

Ringleader Zahid Iqbal, 31, helped organise for Jihadists to travel to Pakistan for extremism training overseas through an al-Qaeda contact he had there known as “Modern Sleeve”.

But the cell decided to plan an attack in the UK after Iqbal lost contact with his secret contact in Spring 2011, Max Hill QC prosecuting, said.
