The only way to defeat those who deny our rights to our land, our nationhood and our history is to expose their corruption, and their hateful intentions towards the Jewish people.

Talkbacks (17)

You have to hand it to the Palestinians.

They decided to abandon the peace process and seek international recognition of the “State of Palestine” – a state in a de facto state of war with Israel. And they are pursuing their goal relentlessly.

This week their efforts bore their first fruit with the UN’s Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization’s (UNESCO) vote to accept “Palestine” as a full state member.

It is not a coincidence that the PLO/PA decided to apply for membership for “Palestine” at UNESCO first. Since 1974, UNESCO has been an enthusiastic partner in the Palestinians’ bid to erase Jewish history, heritage and culture in the Land of Israel from the historical record.

In 1974, UNESCO voted to boycott Israel and to “withhold assistance from Israel in the fields of education, science and culture because of Israel’s persistent alteration of historic features in Jerusalem.”

UNESCO’s moves to deny Jewish ties to Jerusalem and the rest of historic Israel have continued unabated ever since. For instance, in 1989, UNESCO condemned “Israel’s occupation of Jerusalem,” claiming it was destroying the city through “acts of interference, destruction and transformation.”

In 1996, UNESCO held a symposium on Jerusalem at its Paris headquarters. No Jewish or Israeli groups were invited to participate. Continue Reading →

Terrorist Squad Opens Fire on IDF Soldiers

by Israel Defense Forces

A short while ago, IDF soldiers came under fire during routine activity adjacent to the security fence in the northern Gaza Strip, causing damage to their vehicle.

In response to the fire, IDF soldiers targeted the terrorist squad aided by IAF aircraft. A direct hit was confirmed.

Terror organizations in the Gaza Strip persist in their attempt to harm Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers. The IDF holds the Hamas terrorist organization solely responsible for maintaining the calm in the Gaza Strip and for any terrorist activity emanating from it.

Israel successfully test-fired a missile capable of carrying a nuclear warhead and striking Iran today, fuelling concerns the country’s leaders are considering a military attack.

The concerns were sparked over the weekend by a report in the Yediot Ahronot newspaper that said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Ehud Barak favour an attack.

That was followed by a report in the Haaretz daily today that said Mr Netanyahu is now lobbying Cabinet members for a military strike, despite the likelihood it would draw a retaliation from Iran.

Israel Navy Prepares to Stop Vessels Attempting to Break Maritime Security Blockade

From IDF:

The Israel Navy is prepared to contact two vessels, that according to reports on the internet and in the media, are currently headed toward the Gaza Strip with the intention of breaking the legal maritime security blockade, in the coming days.

The Israel Navy has completed the necessary preparations in order to prevent them from reaching the Gaza Strip.

The purpose of this attempt is to create a provocation against the State of Israel, to break the maritime security blockade on Gaza, and to undermine Israel’s security.

The blockade is legal and in accordance with international law. Furthermore, the Palmer committee appointed by the UN to examine the matter has concluded that the blockade is in fact legal.

It should be stated that any organization or state who wishes to transfer humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip can do so via the existing land crossings and in coordination with the Israeli authorities.

The IDF is fully prepared to guard the safety of Israel and its maritime border and to take any necessary action and prevent vessels from breaking the maritime security blockade.

Iran would cause serious damage to the United States and Israel should Jewish state strike the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program, Iran’s top military official said on Wednesday.

The “Zionist regime’s military attack against Iran would lead to heavy damages to the US as well as [to the] Zionist regime,” Iran’s Chief of Staff Maj.-Gen. Hassan Fayrouz Abadi said.

Iran would attack Israel in a “surprising” way, he was quoted by Army Radio as saying.

Iran’s bellicose rhetoric comes as senior ministers in Jerusalem took Israel’s media to task for discussing a potential strike on Iran, which commentators have suggested may be near. Continue Reading →

UPDATE 2-Israel ready to stop boats heading for Gaza

From Reuters.

This is page one. Page two is here.

(Updates with Israeli military saying it will block ships)

JERUSALEM Nov 2 (Reuters) – The Israeli navy will prevent two yachts carrying pro-Palestinian activists which left Turkey on Wednesday from breaching an Israeli blockade and reaching the Gaza Strip, an Israeli military official said.

Lieutenant-Colonel Avital Leibovich, speaking to reporters by telephone, would not say how the boats might be stopped, saying only “we will have to assess and see if we are facing violent passengers.”

Israel was aware two yachts had set sail carrying Irish, Canadian and U.S. activists, Leibovich said. Describing their journey as a “provocation”, she said they were still far from the Israeli and Gazan coast.

Israel would offer to unload any aid supplies on board and deliver them to Gaza, Leibovich said. Israel blockades the Gaza coast to prevent the smuggling of weapons to Palestinian gunmen in the territory, she added.

The military spokesman’s office said the navy was “prepared to contact” the vessels and had “completed the necessary preparations in order to prevent them from reaching the Gaza Strip.”

Israel has blockaded Gaza since Hamas seized control of the territory in 2007, after routing Western-backed Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. Israel permits humanitarian aid and supplies to reach the territory through a land crossing, and Gaza also shares a border with Egypt.

An Israeli government official told Reuters earlier that Israel “will take whatever measures will be necessary” to maintain its blockade.

Israeli commandos killed nine Turkish nationals on one ship in a Gaza-bound flotilla last year when the activists fought them with clubs and knives as the commandos tried to seize control of the ship to enforce the blockade.   Continued.

Omar Ibn al-Khatab said: “I heard the prophet of Allah saying: ‘I will cast Jews and Christians out of the peninsula and I won’t leave any one in it but Muslims.'” (Sunan Abu Dawud, vol. 2, No. 28, from the Muhaddith program)

Israel: Gaza Rockets Unbearable – Vice PM

November 1, 2011

Continued rocket fire from Gaza has created an unbearable situation in southern Israel, and Israel is nearing a dramatic decision that will put an end to the attacks, Israeli Vice Prime Minister Silvan Shalom said Nov. 1, The Jerusalem Post reported, citing Israel Radio. Israel will act directly against the terrorist infrastructure and heads of terrorist organizations, Shalom said. Israel cannot accept a situation in which the lives of millions of its citizens are in danger, Shalom said, and it must regain its power to deter terrorist attacks, which have decreased since Operation Cast Lead.

RICHARD GOLDSTONE CONDEMNS FALSE APARTHEID ANALOGY

Now here’s a twist that should be commended, Judge Richard Goldstone is coming out in defense of Israel against the false charge of apartheid. Just recently the Finnish FM, Erkki Tuomioja (SDP) did exactly that and it would be great if the Finnish media who regularly read this site (come on, you know that I know) would enquire from the radical FM of his opinions on the matter. Goldstone Condemns False Apartheid Analogy

Writes in The New York Times: “In Israel, there is no apartheid”

JERUSALEM – In a continued departure from the inflammatory language and false accusations in the Goldstone Report on the Gaza war, Judge Richard Goldstone today in The New York Times declared, “In Israel, there is no apartheid.” His op-ed article is a direct refutation of the campaigns conducted by a number of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that have used the Goldstone Report to promote boycotts, divestment, and sanctions (BDS) and to demonize Israel, says Jerusalem-based research institution NGO Monitor.

“This is a powerful condemnation of the exploitation of the bitter experience of the victims of South African apartheid for use in immoral attacks against Israel,” says Prof. Gerald Steinberg, president of NGO Monitor. “Those who invoke this false analogy to advance BDS, lawfare, and other forms of political warfare against Israel, have been named and shamed by the former South African judge who helped end apartheid and who was also critical of Israeli policies. This is a fatal blow to the BDS movement and the apartheid analogy.”

Goldstone notes that “while ‘apartheid’ can have broader meaning, its use is meant to evoke the situation in pre-1994 South Africa. It is an unfair and inaccurate slander against Israel, calculated to retard rather than advance peace negotiations.”

“NGO superpowers like Human Rights Watch (HRW) and Amnesty International, along with smaller NGOs like Al Haq and Adalah – many of which receive funding from the New Israel Fund (NIF) and European governments – have been central in spreading this false apartheid analogy,” Steinberg adds. “HRW’s Ken Roth was a key figure in orchestrating the Goldstone Report on Gaza – like this report, Roth is now completely discredited. Similarly, Goldstone’s words answer B’Tselem’s Jessica Montell, who has offensively stated that ‘In some cases, the situation in the West Bank is worse than apartheid in South Africa.’ She, along with the hundreds of other NGO representatives that have demonized Israel through the Durban strategy, are now exposed for their rhetoric that contributes to hatred and stands in sharp contrast to the moral foundations of universal human rights.

Additional key quotes from Goldstone’s op-ed:

  • In Israel, there is no apartheid. Nothing there comes close to the definition of apartheid under the 1998 Rome Statute…
  • Israeli Arabs — 20 percent of Israel’s population — vote, have political parties and representatives in the Knesset and occupy positions of acclaim, including on its Supreme Court. Arab patients lie alongside Jewish patients in Israeli hospitals, receiving identical treatment.
  • South Africa’s enforced racial separation was intended to permanently benefit the white minority, to the detriment of other races. By contrast, Israel has agreed in concept to the existence of a Palestinian state in Gaza and almost all of the West Bank, and is calling for the Palestinians to negotiate the parameters.
  • The mutual recognition and protection of the human dignity of all people is indispensable to bringing an end to hatred and anger. The charge that Israel is an apartheid state is a false and malicious one that precludes, rather than promotes, peace and harmony.

Goldstone also notes the upcoming Russell Tribunal on Palestine (RToP), scheduled for this Saturday in Cape Town, as a vehicle spreading the false apartheid analogy. As he explains, “It is not a ‘tribunal.’ The ‘evidence’ is going to be one-sided and the members of the ‘jury’ are critics whose harsh views of Israel are well known.”

To explain the structure of the “tribunal,” the key figures involved, and the political objectives that motivate them, NGO Monitor has launched the website www.russelltribunal.org

“The RToP is being used to wage political war against and to demonize Israel,” adds Steinberg. “This is the exact strategy outlined by NGOs at the infamous 2001 UN Conference against Racism, held in Durban. Ironically, it is an actual Judge – Goldstone himself – who delivers a strong ‘verdict’ before the ‘tribunal’ even begins.”

NGO Monitor and the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs have published the new book The Goldstone Report “Reconsidered” – A Critical Analysis.
