Human remains are STILL being found at Ground Zero: Nine years on, 72 remains found under debris

A renewed search of debris in and around the World Trade Centre site has recovered 72 human remains, New York City officials have said.
The chilling discovery comes nearly nine years after the horrifying attacks on September 11, 2001.
The sifting of more than 800 cubic yards of debris recovered from Ground Zero and underneath roads around the lower Manhattan site began in April and ended on Friday.
The greatest number of remains – 37 – were found from material underneath West Street, a highway on the west side of Ground Zero.

The new debris was uncovered as construction work made new parts of the site accessible.
The city began a renewed search for human remains in 2006, with more than 1,800 remains recovered so far.

The person who retrieved this video says that they “Downloaded [it] from the site….. The source is an Islamic satellite channel for children called “Birds of Paradise” which broadcasts from Bahrain and aired in Gaza. The children’s choir is also called “Birds of Paradise”. The head of the channel, Khalid Maqdad, is a Palestinian Jordanian.”

Saudi-style justice: Men, women flogged and jailed for talking at party

Judicial officials say a Saudi court has convicted four women and 11 men for mingling at a party and sentenced them to flogging and prison terms.

The men, who are between 30 and 40 years old, and three of the women, who are under the age of 30, were sentenced to an unspecified number of lashes and one or two year prison terms each.

The fourth woman, a minor, was sentenced to 80 lashes and was not sent to prison.

The ruling was handed down on Tuesday at a court in the northern town of Ha’il.

The officials say the police saw the group partying until dawn last month. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to talk to the media.

Saudi Arabia follows a strict interpretation of Islam that prohibits unrelated men and women from mingling.

AMSTERDAM, 22/06/10 – Conservative Muslims have press-ganged aggressive young Moroccans into seizing power via intimidation in Amsterdam’s Nieuw West district, according to De Volkskrant newspaper.

In the district elections on 7 December 2009, Ahmed Marcouch was put forward by the national Labour (PvdA) leadership as candidate PvdA leader of Nieuw West. Although he is Moroccan, many other Moroccans considered him too liberal. They put forward their own Moroccan candidate, Achmed Ba’adoud, who indeed defeated him.

The Osdorp, Slotervaart and Geuzenveld/Slotermeer districts in Amsterdam were merged to form the Nieuw-West borough in May. The three branches of the PvdA merged in June 2009 ahead of the three districts’ merger. Ba’adoud began his campaign of intimidation at that time, according to De Volkskrant. Continue Reading →

Intel: Times Square bomber was eager to attack US

ISLAMABAD — The Pakistani-American who pleaded guilty to trying to bomb Times Square was determined to strike the U.S. even before he received training by the Taliban, but his time spent with militants close to the Afghan border steeled his resolve further, alleged accomplices detained in Pakistan have told investigators.

Pakistani intelligence agencies are holding at least five suspects in connection with the attack.

Two of them have allegedly admitted to helping Faisal Shahzad reach Mir Ali town in North Waziristan, according to a Pakistani intelligence official involved in the case who provided details to The Associated Press on Tuesday. Pakistani intelligence does not allow operatives to be identified by name.

The official said American investigators, including those with the CIA, have been involved in interrogating the alleged accomplices, who were arrested in the days and weeks after the May 1 attempted attack in the heart of New York. Continue Reading →

Canada to bar Islamic preacher

An Indian Muslim televangelist who was banned from Britain last week for “unacceptable behaviour” will not be allowed into Canada to speak at an upcoming conference in Toronto, sources familiar with the situation have told the National Post.

Dr. Zakir Naik, who has said “every Muslim should be a terrorist” and that Jews are “our staunchest enemy,” was to headline next month’s Journey of Faith Conference — which is billed as one of North America’s largest Islamic conferences and is expected to attract upward of 10,000 people.

Dr. Naik, the Mumbaibased founder of Peace TV and a widely respected lecturer in India, has a laundry list of views that could have led to his exclusion from the U.K. and Canada, both of which require an Indian citizen to obtain a visitor visa.

The 44-year-old medical doctor recommends capital punishment for homosexuals and the death penalty for those who abandon Islam as their faith. He has said that a man is within his right to beat his wife “lightly,” although in a July 2009 YouTube video he cautioned against hitting her on the face or leaving a mark. Continue Reading →

Geert Wilders declares “Jordan is Palestine” — upsets Jordan

AMMAN: The Foreign Relations Committee at the Jordanian upper house of Parliament on Monday rebuked leader of a Dutch far-right political party for proposing the establishment of an alternative homeland for Palestinians in Jordan.

“This strange attitude represents an encroachment on internal law and conventions as well as a flagrant aggression on the sovereignty and independence of Jordan, a member of the United Nations,” said the Committee’s Chairman, Marouf Bakheet, in a statement carried by the official Petra news agency.

Let’s begin by you telling us a bit about the political climate in your country. To what extent have political correctness and multiculturalism infiltrated the society and what destruction are they wreaking?

We’ll a friend of mine once described Sweden as a “politically correct dictatorship,” which is a rather good description on how far things have gone in Sweden. I can give you a few examples of exactly how far we are talking about. Our prime minister, Fredrik Reinfeldt, said the following soon after he was elected in 2006:

Muslim protestors gathered in London on Sunday calling for aspects of Sharia law to be introduced in Britain. The rally turned into chaos, sparking a counter-demonstration by English right-wing nationalists [the EDL].

“We find many of these people who call for human rights and one law,” said Asad Ullah, member of the Muslims against the Crusades group. “They come and they say that they want equality. But what equality do you get when one man legislates over another? Is he not more superior than you? Canada to get new conservative news station

Oh, what fun to see the oldies run and squeak. The oldies being the traditional, liberal, status quo media types in television, radio and print who have had it easy, soft and lucrative for far too long.

Quebecor announces a new network and the usual hacks drown in cynicism and outrage. You’d think that journalists would welcome another TV station — it will provide jobs and expand the debate. But anybody who has been in Canadian journalism for more than a heartbeat knows that will never be the case.

Media in this country is about shaping — and not reflecting — public opinion. It resents challenge, relishes its complacent sense of superiority and despises anything that even hints of the American model because it terrifies them. Not that the new network looks to be particularly American. The people, so far announced to be involved are all Canadians, all experienced, all highly qualified.

The new network will apparently be called Sun TV News, but has already been labelled as Fox North. “We call it that,” explained one television host, “because the guys behind it have spent time down at Fox.” What an odd thing to do! Why on earth look to the most successful new TV network in the world for some sort of advice and guidance. Far better to do the CBC thing and reformat news and opinion shows by having people stand up rather than sit down. Continue Reading →

Iran: Judiciary Gives its Blessing to Crackdown on “Bad Hijabs”

RAHANA – When asked about fines issued by some prosecutors for women with “bad hijab, Raisee said, “Hijab and chastity are the letter of the law and must be enforced without exception.”
Raise went on to advise all Iranian women to be faithful to Islam adding that non Muslim women must also obey the law of the land. All the cultural resources of the country must be used to institutionalize the Islamic hijab, Raisee said.
“The fact the certain prosecutors have issued monetary fines for women with “bad hijab” remain within their discretionary powers and such ruling are binding” said Raisee. He also advised the security forces to use all their power to deal with “bad hijabs”
In recent days, reports have emerged that women with bad hijab will be fined. The amount of the fine varies based on the color of their nail polish or other makeup items, whether they were wearing their sunglasses on their heads at the time of their arrest, as well the color of their hair or highlights.

Iran opposition leader vows to keep up vote protest

Opposition leader Mehdi Karroubi on Sunday vowed to continue fighting the presidential “vote scandal” which rocked Iran, a year to the day after the death of a young woman at a Tehran protest rally.
Karroubi’s latest salvo comes 12 months after a deadly demonstration in the capital against the re-election of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad led to the killing of 10 people, including Neda Agha-Soltan.
A mobile phone video posted on the Internet showing the young woman bleeding to death in the street during the June 20, 2009 rally became the symbol of the uprising against Ahmadinejad’s re-election.
In an open letter to Iranians posted on his Sahamnews.org website, Karroubi criticised supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and attacked the authorities for jailing protesters and “filling cemeteries” with those killed in the unrest.
“Your stolen votes and the right which was unjustly taken away is a scandal which will not be wiped out at all,” said the cleric who has refused to accept Ahmadinejad’s re-election.

UK government ‘warms to idea of sovereign sukuk’

The UK’s new Conservative-Liberal Democrat coalition government is set to revisit plans to issue the country’s first sovereign Islamic bond, or sukuk, according to a banker advising British leaders on the issue.

Humphrey Percy, the chief executive of the Kuwaiti-backed Bank of London and Middle East, said Mark Hoban, the new UK financial secretary to the treasury, was “prepared to look at it positively” after the Labour government rejected the sukuk idea.

“The previous government concluded that they did not want to do it because there were still uncertainties around the benefits to the government issuing sukuk,” Mr Percy said on the sidelines of the World Islamic Economic Forum. “Things have changed.” Continue Reading →

Geert Wilders to enter Dutch government after support for anti-Islamic party triples

The far-Right Dutch politician’s controversial PVV party came third, behind Labour and the victorious Liberals.

PVV increased its number of MPs from nine to 24 after campaigning against immigration, for a tax on Muslim headscarves, a ban on the Koran and against the building of new mosques.

“We would love to govern,” Mr Wilders said. “1.5 million people voted for us and our plans for more safety, less immigration and less Islam. We are the big winner and they cannot ignore us. We want to be taken seriously.”

Mark Rutte, the leader of the centre-right Liberal VVD and the man expected to be the next Dutch prime minister, hailed his party’s unprecedented victory. “It appears as if for the first time in our history that the VVD has become the largest party in the Netherlands,” he said.

Mr Rutte’s VVD is now expected to form a Right-wing coalition government with Mr Wilders and the Christian Democrat CDA, after that party lost 20 seats to fall from first to fourth place in Dutch politics.

The support of the Freedom Party’s 24 MPs is vital if the Liberals, with 31 seats, are to combine with the CDA, with 21, to gain a majority of 76 in the 150-seat Dutch parliament. Continue Reading →

Wilders Doubles his vote — PVV now Holland’s third party

Well he’s not done quite as well as was expected a few months ago but the platinum bombshell, Geert Wilders, is still nonetheless now an unavoidable fact in mainstream Dutch politics.

Wilders – who campaigned on an anti-immigration, anti-Islam platform – has more than doubled support for his Freedom Party.He has gained 24 seats in the new parliament – up from 9.

This would of course not be a big deal if Wilders was not such a polarizing political voice – not just in Holland but also across Europe.He has for the last 6 years been living under 24 hour police protection because of a series of death threats made against him.He is also currently on trial for inciting racial hatred after comparing the Quran to Mein Kampf and Islam to Nazism.

Wilders politics cause offence to many – he was banned from entering the UK in 2009 – but they also strike a chord with plenty of disgruntled voters.
With an even more prominent position – due to his electoral showing – Wilders is expected to use his success to turn the volume up even higher on his core message; Islam is unwelcome in Holland and Europe; a country and continent with Christian and democratic foundations.

Despite his support – PVV is now the third party in Holland – a cabinet position may still be out of reach in any new coalition. Many Dutch politicians find his views morally rebarbative.

But that does not mean he won’t be able to shape opinion. With more seats in parliament Wilders is likely to create even greater divisions in Dutch politics and multi-cultural tolerance.
