A satirical French magazine is to publish an edition ‘edited’ by the prophet Mohammed, in “honour” of Islam’s influence on the Arab Spring.

“In order fittingly to celebrate the Islamist Ennahda’s win in Tunisia and the NTC (National Transitional Council) president’s promise that sharia would be the main source of law in Libya, Charlie Hebdo asked Mohammed to be guest editor,” said a statement.

The weekly has been rebaptised Sharia Hebdo for the occasion, and will feature on its cover a picture of Mohammed saying: “100 lashes if you don’t die of laughter!”

On the back page, a picture of Mohammed wearing a red nose is accompanied by the words: “Yes, Islam is compatible with humour.”

The cover was circulating on social media such as Twitter on Tuesday, with many users incensed and describing it as “puerile”.

The weekly’s publisher, known as Charb, rejected accusations that he was trying to provoke.

“We feel we’re just doing our job as usual. The only difference is that this week, Mohammed is on the cover and that’s quite rare,” he told AFP.

A Paris court in 2007 threw out a suit brought by two Muslim organisations against Charlie Hebdo for reprinting cartoons of prophet Mohammed that had appeared in a Danish newspaper, sparking angry protests by Muslims worldwide

IAF Targets Terrorist Responsible for Long-Range Rocket Launch

FROM IDF Spokesman

A short while ago in a joint IDF-ISA activity, an IAF aircraft targeted a terrorist squad in the southern Gaza Strip that was preparing to launch long-range rockets. The aforementioned squad is responsible for the firing of the Grad rocket towards southern Israel this past Wednesday.

A hit was identified and the launching attempt was thwarted.

The IDF will not tolerate any attempt to harm Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers, and will continue to operate with strength and determination against anyone who uses terror against the State of Israel. The Hamas terror organization is solely responsible for any terrorist activity emanating from the Gaza Strip.

U.S. drone base in Ethiopia is operational

I ask on this site periodically, how many countries does it take before you call it a world war?

From the WAPO:

The Air Force has been secretly flying Reaper drones on counterterrorism missions from a remote civilian airport in southern Ethiopia as part of a rapidly expanding U.S.-led proxy war against an al-Qaeda affiliate in East Africa, U.S. military officials said.

The Air Force has invested millions of dollars to upgrade an airfield in Arba Minch, Ethiopia, where it has built a small annex to house a fleet of drones that can be equipped with Hellfire missiles and satellite-guided bombs. The Reapers began flying missions earlier this year over neighboring Somalia, where the United States and its allies in the region have beentargeting al-Shabab, a militant Islamist group connected to al-Qaeda.

On Friday, the Pentagon said the drones are unarmed and have been used only for surveillance and collecting intelligence, though it would not rule out the possibility that they would be used to launch lethal strikes in the future.

Mindful of the 1993 “Black Hawk Down” debacle in which two U.S. military helicopters were shot down in the Somali capital of Mogadishu and 18 Americans killed, the Obama administration has sought to avoid deploying troops to the country. Continue Reading →

Some excellent political theater in Montreal.

I love Quebec culture. No where else in the ROC (rest of Canada) would anyone have the raw guts to do this.

While I have my issues with Quebec politics the people and culture of Quebec are fantastic in so many ways. For one thing, at least they are willing to fight to preserve their own identity. Something the rest of the Western world could learn from.

In the video below, some anti-anti-Israel activists, or put another way, pro-Israel activists using the theatrical tactic of pretending to be Muslim women complaining about how Israel allows women rights, gay people rights and allows political disagreement with the state, pass out flyers and and wave signs and mock, I think it’s called, ‘ululating’, a sound Muslim women make under some circumstances, while really trying to show how these values are good ones and the enemies of Israel should be looked at carefully.

This video was shot and uploaded to youtube initially by what sounds like a Muslim, who I believe falsely accused these people of assaulting him, although there is no evidence of that on his video, and ‘Bear’ translated what little French there was spoken as well as the signs and I re-uploaded it with his invective removed. It certainly is a fun watch even if it was taken by someone who most certainly did not like what they were doing.

France: Muslim veil, also banned in private nurseries

ANSAMED:

(ANSAmed) – PARIS, OCTOBER 27 – Private children’s nurseries in France can also ban their employees from wearing a Muslim-style veil: this is the ruling passed down yesterday by the Versailles court of appeal. According to the French judges, as well as state schools, private children’s nurseries come under the ban of religious symbols. At the Baby-Loup nursery in the working class area of Chanteloup-les-Vignes (near Versailles), an employee was fired in 2008 because she refused to remove her veil.

The employee sought redress from the courts, but they ruled against her case. Lawyer Richard Malka has stated that this ruling by the appeal court is ”a great victory for the secular state”. (ANSAmed).

About 30 demonstrators who were upset by what they insisted were “anti-Semitic” sentiments at a Muslim conference protested outside the Islamic Centre of Canada in Mississauga on Sunday.

Holding Israeli flags, protesters charged that four Islamic speakers invited to the conference were spreading messages of homophobia and violence towards Jewish people.

“They made inciteful statements against Jews and others,” alleged Meir Weinstein, national director of the Jewish Defence League of Canada. “We don’t think they should be given a platform here in Canada. We consider their stance as they’d like to see Canada become an Islamic state to be dangerous.”

Some of the people scheduled to speak at the conference included Abdurraheem Green, Yusuf Chambers and Shaykh Hussain Yee. The only confirmed speaker was Hamza Andreas Tzortzis.

“Our position has always been to expose and confront these organizations and that’s what we have to do,” said Weinstein. Continue Reading →

French-Algerian woman author, Djemila Benhabib, on Quebec TV show discusses book, ‘My Life Against Koran’

This is exceptional in so many ways. The fact that a Quebec TV show was so sympathetic with her for openers, and how well spoken she is, but more importantly, how well treated she was with her message of truth but a politically incorrect one.

Interesting revelation in the UK

Turns out a leading lefty lecturer was a police spy impeding the activities of certain left wing radical groups from Greenpeace right to certain ‘anti-racist’ groups. Interesting indeed.
