For the second time in a week a church in Libya has been attacked.

If the Legacy media has not gotten the message that WW3 is well under way now and it looks a lot like WW1 + ww2 and we had better start fighting back, then either we are all doomed who value classical liberalism, or we had better abandon ‘professional’ journalism for media ready to report the actual events taking place in the world and not shield Western people from its true meanings.

Benghazi, Coptic Christians denounce torture and attempts to convert them to Islam

Asia News:

44 of the 48 Christian vendors arrested in the market of Benghazi in February on charges of proselytizing have returned home. The Salafis forced them to say the prayer of conversion to Islam and spit on the images of Pope Shenouda III. Four of them are still in the hands of the Libyan police.

Cairo (AsiaNews) – Libyan Salafis are responsible for torture, attempts to forcibly convert and desecration of Christian imagery. This is according to  44 of the 48 Egyptian Coptic vendors on their return home. “They forced us to pronounce the al-shahaadatayn – said one of them – the proclamation of the Islamic faith and spit on images of Pope Shenouda III.” So far, the Egyptian government has not reacted to the episode that involved its citizens nor charges of religious discrimination. However, the relatives of the victims are demanding justice and accuse the Islamist government of protecting the Libyan Salafists.

Arrested in mid-February in the Benghazi market, accused of publicizing religious images and illegal immigration, the Coptic Orthodox were held for several days in a jail guarded by Salafi armed guards. They were released after several days of negotiations between the Egyptian and the Libyan governments accused on several occasions of failing to protect foreign nationals in its territory. Currently four Christians are still detained in Libya for further investigation.

Well. Democracy in Libya is going well now, isn’t it?

H/T Magic Martin.

At this time I would like to point out that democracy has pretty much bugger all to do with voting for stuff and everything to do with the nature and structure of the institutions of government such as ‘justice’ etc. Don’t watch if you are squeamish.

Foreigners suspected of trying to spread Christianity arrested in Libya

H/T Hermes and all who sent in links on this.

FOX:

TRIPOLI, Libya –  Four foreigners were arrested in Libya on suspicion of distributing books about Christianity and proselytizing, a Libyan police spokesman said on Saturday.

Police spokesman Hussein bin Hamid said the suspects were from South Africa, Egypt and South Korea, and one held both Swedish and U.S. nationality. The Swedish Foreign Ministry confirmed that a dual national Swedish-American citizen was arrested while traveling on a U.S. passport. The U.S. Embassy in Libya declined comment.

Spreading Christianity is a crime in the predominantly Muslim North African county.

Britons in Benghazi warned to get out immediately after Foreign Office reports ‘imminent threat’

Germany also has advised its nationals to leave the area.

Daily Mail:

  • Foreign Office says westerners may be targeted in strife-hit Libyan city
  • U.S. ambassador and three other Americans were killed there in September
  • Violent groups currently vie for power in aftermath of Gaddafi’s death

All Britons were told today to immediately leave the Libyan city of Benghazi after a specific intelligence warning of a threat to Western targets.

The Foreign Office has been advising against travel to most of the country since last September, but has now stepped up its alert after receiving intelligence of a ‘specific and imminent threat’ – thought to involve possible kidnap and attacks on Westerners.

The warning comes just days after terrorists linked to the Blood Battalion of one-eyed jihadist and cigarette smuggler Mokhtar Belmokhtar kidnapped dozens of Western gas workers at the BP plant in Algeria – 37 died, including six Britons, after a shoot out with Algerian Special Forces – having crossed from Libya to carry out the attack.

In cable the day he died, U.S. ambassador warned Clinton about Benghazi security

In all the haze and confusion of Obama conspiracies, the simple and raw facts of his administration, which should be enough to impeach him alone, get lost. Those who remember Nixon will not be able to find anything as bad as what happened in Benghazi, yet Obama gets a pass.

The Washington Guardian:

  • Cable from Chris Stevens was chock full of reports on regional violence, concerns about local security capabilities
UPDATED 7:49 AM EST, January 22, 2013 | BY John Solomon
Why It Matters:

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton makes a farewell appearance before Congress to address questions about the Benghazi terror attack last Sept. 11, and likely will be confronted by the very warning her ambassador from Libya sent just hours before his death.

Just hours before he died in a terrorist attack at the U.S. compound in Benghazi, Ambassador Chris Stevens sent a cable to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton painting a chaotic, violent portrait of the eastern Libya city and warning that local militias were threatening to pull the security they afforded U.S. officials.

Militia leaders told U.S. officials just two days before the attack that they were angered by U.S. support of a particular candidate for Libyan prime minister and warned “they would not continue to guarantee security in Benghazi, a critical function they asserted they were currently providing,” Stevens wrote in the cable the morning of Sept. 11, 2012.  He also cited several other episodes that raised questions about the reliability of local Libya security.

“Growing problems with security would discourage foreign investment and led to persistent economic stagnation in eastern Libya,” Stevens cautioned.

New York Times: Arms Shipments Secretly Approved by Obama Admin. Ended Up in Hands of Islamic Militants

The Obama administration “secretly” approved arms shipments to Libyan rebels from Qatar last year, however, U.S. officials quickly became concerned as evidence suggested Qatar was handing the weapons over to Islamic militants, The New York Times reports, citing a number of United States officials and foreign diplomats.

There is no evidence available that suggests the U.S.-approved weapons were involved in the deadly terrorist attack on the U.S. compound in Benghazi, which left four Americans dead on Sept. 11. But the revelation is sure to ignite speculation.

More from The New York Times:

But in the months before, the Obama administration clearly was worried about the consequences of its hidden hand in helping arm Libyan militants, concerns that have not previously been reported. The weapons and money from Qatar strengthened militant groups in Libya, allowing them to become a destabilizing force since the fall of the Qaddafi government.

Navy SEALS Waited 5 Hours for Air Support Before They Were Killed

Front Page Mag:

November 4, 2012 By Comments (5)

The Obama Campaign cannot wait 5 hours without sending another fundraising plea for four more years of the same, but the former Navy SEALS defending the Benghazi consulate waited 5 hours for air support that never came.

The presence of laser capability on the roof of the CIA annex confirms what Fox News sources that night in Benghazi originally said, which is that they had laser capability and for 5 hours and 15 minutes were wondering where the usual overhead air support was, especially since, according to this source, they radioed from the annex beginning as early as midnight asking for it.

The presence of lasers raises more questions about why air support was not sent to Benghazi even protectively once it became clear that the fighting had followed the CIA rescue team back to the annex.

But the good news is that Obama did find the time to meet some coffins, according to David Axelrod who said, “This president is 100% committed to the people he sent overseas personally to represent this country. He’s the one who met those coffins when they came home.”

We’ve established that Obama is really great at having his photo taken next to coffins of dead soldiers. He’s just not very good at saving their lives by providing them air support when that might offend his Islamist allies.

Benghazi Culpability: Walls Closing in on Administration

PJ Media:

The mainstream media is doing all that it can to avoid reporting on the Obama administration’s cover-up of the Benghazi scandal, where President Obama may have abandoned up to 32 Americans to die.

Fox News is the only mainstream media outlet to undertake a concerted effort into sorting through the spin coming from the White House, and they’ve uncovered some maddening claims — including the latest bombshell, a classified cable from the consulate in August wherein the Regional Security Officer (RSO) warned they were understaffed and under-gunned:

“RSO (Regional Security Officer) expressed concerns with the ability to defend Post in the event of a coordinated attack due to limited manpower, security measures, weapons capabilities, host nation support, and the overall size of the compound,” the cable said.
