This citizenship says: “Squatting because we did not we get our rights … because the goals of the revolution did not materialize, we are here and we will stay in Tahrir Square until our demands are achieved.”
Many Egyptian governorates witnessed sporadic clashes between supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood and protesters, wounding dozens.
Another citizen said: “We demand to clear the Ministry of Interior and the sacking of Prime Minister Hisham Qandil, solving the Constituent Assembly of the Constitution.”
The thousands of people had gathered in Tahrir Square against the constitutional declaration that enhances the powers of the Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi, at the expense of the judiciary by the Egyptian opposition.

Cairo
This looks like a fairly good explanation of what is taking place and why.
This is from an Egyptian news service from today. Don’t know where yet but it appears to be the military preparing for a large stand off with civilians, presumably unhappy with Morsi’s new status as a deity.
The one below appears to be from a highly symbolic st. in Cairo leading from Tahrir Sq. to the interior ministry
Same Street, more clashes.
View from above, same st. Clearly there is no effective litter laws in Cairo. That alone is worth a riot ow two. How the cops can eat in the middle of all that noise and garbage is a mystery I do not want solved.

Egypt’s Morsi takes on sweeping powers
Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi has decreed constitutional changes granting himself far-reaching powers. He also fired the country’s chief prosecutor, a move likely to cause further conflict with the judiciary.
The Egyptian leader on Thursday decreed, among other constitutional amendments, that all decisions he had taken since taking office in June could not be appealed in court or by any other authority.
A constitutional declaration read out on television by spokesman Yasser Ali stated that Morsi “can issue any decision or measure to protect the revolution.”
“The constitutional declarations, decisions and laws issued by the president are final and not subject to appeal,” the declaration continued.
Morsi also granted immunity both to the constituent assembly drafting a new Egyptian constitution and to the upper chamber of parliament from any possible court decisions to dissolve them. Both bodies are dominated by Islamist allies of the president.
“Morsi today usurped all state powers and appointed himself Egypt’s new pharaoh. A major blow to the revolution that could have dire consequences,” ElBaradei wrote on his Twitter account on Thursday.
Muslim Egyptian Woman Cut Hair of Christian Schoolgirl in Subway
AINA:
(AINA) — 13-year-old Coptic girl Maggie Milad Fazez filed a police complaint in Zaytoun, a suburb of Cairo, against a veiled woman who secretly cut her hair during their journey on the subway. The child said that as she entered the crowded train car she inadvertently pushed the veiled woman to go inside, which led to a verbal exchange between them. The veiled woman told Maggie, who has long hair, “You don’t know what I will do to you.”

Egyptian president sharpens his tone against Israel, threatening: ‘If I see the homeland in danger, I won’t hesitate to take unusual steps.’ He vows that his country will ‘stop this brutal aggression’

Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi sharpened his tone against Israel on Friday, while Palestinian terrorists continued to fire rockets into southern Israel and Tel Aviv.
After concluding the Friday prayer at a mosque in Cairo, Morsi warned Israel of the consequences of its strikes in Gaza. According to the al- Shorouk newspaper, Morsi tweeted on his Twitter page: “We have the power to uproot the aggressiveness just like it uprooted exploitation.

Egypt veiled women cut off “infidel” Christian’s hair, throw her out of metro

CAIRO: A Christian woman reported that she had her hair cut off by two veiled women inside the Egypt’s capital city Cairo’s metro and thrown out of the car while being called an “infidel.”
Copts United, which reported the incident on its website, said the unnamed woman also suffered a broken arm from being thrown from the car.
The Coptic Christian advocacy group said this was the third such incident on the metro in the past 10 days and nearly at the same location.
Naguib Gebrael, the head of the Egyptian Federation for Human Rights, reportedly called the ministry of interior to “find a way to arrest those veiled women who belong to the Organization of the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice,” an underground movement that is not officially sanctioned or supported by the government.
This is not the first such hair-cutting occurrence in the country over the past few weeks.
Earlier this month, an Egyptian court in southern Egypt handed out a 6-month suspended sentence in a child abuse case that had sparked outrage among liberals and supporters of freedom of religion.
The teacher, Eman Abu Bakr, was convicted of child abuse after she cut off the hair of two schoolgirls who did not wear a traditional higab, or headscarf.

An Egyptian jihad leader, with self-professed links to the Taliban, called for the “destruction of the Sphinx and the Giza Pyramids in Egypt,” drawing ties between the Egyptian relics and Buddha statues, local media reported this week.
Murgan Salem al-Gohary, an Islamist leader twice-sentenced under former President Hosni Mubarak for advocating violence, called on Muslims to remove such “idols.”
“All Muslims are charged with applying the teachings of Islam to remove such idols, as we did in Afghanistan when we destroyed the Buddha statues,” he said on Saturday during a television interview on an Egyptian private channel, widely watched by Egyptian and Arab audiences.
“God ordered Prophet Mohammed to destroy idols,” he added. “When I was with the Taliban we destroyed the statue of Buddha, something the government failed to do.”

Five terrorists have been caught apparently plotting an attack on British tourists in an Egyptian resort in the lead-up to Christmas.
The suspected jihadists were arrested by Egyptian counter terror police as they collected rocket-propelled grenades, rifles and pistols in an attempt believed to be similar to the Mumbai attacks in India which killed 166 people in November 2008.#
Authorities claimed that the gang planned to attack the ‘softer target of British tourists’ holidaying at the idyllic beachside resort of Sharm el-Sheikh on the Red Sea.

The arrests come after al-Qaeda leader Ayman Zawahiri called for a new wave of violence, appealing to jihadists around the world to attack and kidnap westerners.
