Labour: London borough becomes ‘Islamic republic’

Outside the Wellington Way polling station in Tower Hamlets yesterday, as at many other polling stations in the borough, people had to run a gauntlet of Lutfur Rahman supporters to reach the ballot box. As one Bengali woman voter went past them, we heard one of the Rahman army scolding her for her “immodest dress.”

That incident is perhaps a tiny taste of the future for Britain’s poorest borough now it has elected Mr Rahman as its first executive mayor, with almost total power over its £1 billion budget. At the count last night, one very senior figure in the Tower Hamlets Labour Party said: “It really is Britain’s Islamic republic now.”

I feel I have to add my two cents to this clip. 1 cent, Every time I see one of these guys I imagine a table at an Italian restaurant that is missing its cloth and the second cent…

Wouldn’t it be just grand if he meant that for Muslims ‘visiting’ Western lands and not just as he does, for infidels in Muslim countries.

  1. How can you possibly deal with someone who doesn’t believe in fairness, who actually disagrees with the concept of fair play? And what’s more, why would you want to deal with such a creep? This guy is an enemy agent who should be air-dropped over the Sinai Peninsula with ten bucks and a bag lunch, and he should count himself lucky at that.

  3. Hi Chris – if I had my way, Israel would invade the Sinai and take it back. This would save the US a billion a year. But more importantly, would supply Israel with tourism $, $$ from oil money, and airspace for their AIr Force. The fallout from the world press is given, but given the financial crisis, I doubt that many countries will want to get involved militarily no matte what the Saudis say.

    Expel every single one citizen of this Islamic Republic.
    Islamic is not British.
    Republic is not British either.
    As I recall, England has a constitutional monarchy.
    What has her majesty and her government got to say about the usurpation of their power in their own country?
