UPDATE on the LA car fires

I think this is worth tracking. As Richard pointed out, chaos is chaos and serves the interests of anyone who wishes to destabilize Western nations. However I am curious about this series of events. If it is by more than one person, it is less likely to be a random non-political person with a psychopathology of arson. Also, its been a few days now. Surely the police have had a chance to check security camera footage from somewhere at this point. Granted, L.A. is not yet London and thank god for small mercies, but still lots of cameras everywhere in private hands.

Petrol sales limited to cut New Year car torchings

“Police last year said they would no longer release figures for the number of vehicles set on fire to put an end to the “competition and ranking” that had emerged, with more than 1,000 vehicles being torched every year.” -ibid

Sales of petrol and other combustibles will be limited on New Year’s Eve in a bid to curb what has become an annual tradition of revellers torching hundreds of cars, police said.

Youths in the often depressed suburbs of French cities have been torching hundreds of vehicles on New Year’s Eve since the early 1990s in what police say has become a competition to see which area can cause the most damage.

Police last year said they would no longer release figures for the number of vehicles set on fire to put an end to the “competition and ranking” that had emerged, with more than 1,000 vehicles being torched every year. Continue Reading →

New attempted murder on police officers

December 31, 2011

Police and emergency services have been busy in Malmö last night. Eight cars have been burned down  in various parts of the city. Car was ignited on Ramels road and police was attacked with large cobblestones. Although, helmeted police officers risk their lives when big stones are wildly thrown at them. That’s why this blog writes “A new attempted murder on police officers” in the title. Even an outdoor toilet for construction workers in Rosengard was fire injured.

Citizen patrols mooted to stop car arsons

From The Local.se

As night-time car arsons in Berlin continue unabated, some citizens are calling for neighbourhood groups to prowl the streets looking for culprits, an idea that appears to be gaining ground.

The idea for citizen patrols has gained support during the week-long spate of arson in the German capital, which have left dozens of cars, mostly expensive models, burned out.

More than 300 vehicles have now been set alight since the beginning of the year, including five overnight Sunday.

Police have struggled to deal with the crisis, but the city actually assigns more people to give out traffic tickets than track down the car arsonists, according to the daily newspaper Die Welt. Continue Reading →
