How many creative, inquiring minds have been discouraged, abused, and pilloried by medieval-like guilds, similar to labor unions that discourage independent thought and action. Involved in this is spiritual aridity, meanness, and fear-mongering along with narcissistic lust for power on the part of the men and women at the top of the governing bodies. Shame. I imagine that the discoverer of fire was burned at the stake. Fear is the opposite of love.
