Geoffrey Clarfield: Explaining Canada’s Tilt Towards Tyranny
In order to explain Canada’s recent and dramatic tilt towards tyranny under Canada’s first unelected parliamentary majority (they ‘persuaded’ already elected Conservative MPs to defect) one must first go back in time and ask why Fascist Japan and Nazi Germany were such close allies before and during WWII?
Ok, first off idk if this video is the one where that gym “influncer” Jillin Michaels, I think her name is, interviewing him, but in her interview of him, he spouts two bold faced lies, one, that our oil was just “laying in the ground” and we refused to build a pipeline west, and two, that the US offered to come up here and pay TOP DOLLAR for our oil, but was met with opposition.
First, we’ve been sending millions of barrels of oil per day to the US for decades, most likely back to the discovery of oil in Leduc, AB in the late 1930s. Currently we send @ 4-4.5 mbpd to them.
Second, we did build a pipeline west, the Trans Mountain Pipeline, and are currently in the process of twinning the pipeline to double capacity. This was completed by the gov’t, and as much as I can;t stand Justin’s style of government, and its policies certainly led a level of uncertainty of major projects, the next item is what has ALWAYS crippled west or east expansion of oil flows.
That was the proportional exclusion clause of the original FTA and NAFTA, which meant we had to maintain the at that time current percentage of exports to the US, even if we needed the oil for ourselves domestically, or if we could get a better price elsewhere.
Thats why we sent till TM1 and soon 2, over 90% of our oil south, we literally could not send any less, and thats why other projects always died in the crib. If youre a oil or pipeline producer why would you fund a project that could send 10,20,30% of Canada’s oil production to Asia or Europe if Alberta could not increase overall production to make that new project be only @ 5% of canadas oil production???? This meant that Western Select Crude had always traded at a deep discount to other similar types of oil (heavy sour crude) due to us having for all intents and purposes, one sole buyer. So no, they werent paying “top dollar” VDH.
It wasnt till Chrystia Freeland made Donald Trump in term one give up that clause in the “totally best trade deal ever” he claims CUSMA. That agreement got rid of that clause and so now, we can send as much of our oil abroad to Asia and Europe as we want, were it possible, we could send 0% to the US (although they would likely invade us over that, tbh). As much as Chrystia was a Cee U Next Tuesday over the convoy and just in general, she did do two good things, this energy clause thing, and her public takedown of Justin in her resignation letter.
So this was just in like the first two minutes of VDH’s talk another site had cued up, I can only imagine what other lies he says. Dont get me wrong I voted PPC in 2021, so I’m not some libtard, but I also know where PeePee stands on the US and as much as i’d have thought it nuts to think pre Carney, he is like it or not, the best option we have at our disposal for now.
