  1. The First Crusade
    There, armed and mounted, goes the pilgrim knight,
    To meet the Saracen on Acre’s field:
    The Cross is on his shoulders and his shield,
    And on his banner and his helmet bright:
    He knowth not to truckle or to yield,
    But valiantly for his dear Lord to fight;
    For on his heart is this high purpose sealed,—
    To see Jerusalem; Oh glorious sight!
    To quench his thirst at Siloa’s sacred fount;
    To bathe in Jordon’s stream without control;
    To stand on Calvary’s thrice honoured mount,
    And there the standard of the Cross unroll;
    On that blest spot those sufferings to recount
    Which He endured who died to save his sinful soul.

  2. Here’s an ominous and puzzling example of exploiting the flexibility of a term. Here it is “Infiltration”

    The site “Muslim Brotherhood Watch” is “appalled” by the hiring of Charles M. Kupperman, as being a member of the Board for the Center For Security Policy (cf. Frank Gaffney).
    From: https://www.globalmbwatch.com/2019/09/22/cair-appalled-by-appointment-of-trumps-new-acting-national-security-adviser-gmbdw-agrees/ :
    “It is rare that the GMBDW and CAIR, a part of the US Muslim Brotherhood, find themselves on the same side of any issue. We also oppose the appointment of Kupperman for the same reason that in November 2016 we opposed the appointment of rightwing ideologue Clare Lopez to the position of Deputy National Security Advisor in the Trump Administration.” –>[https://www.globalmbwatch.com/2016/11/15/the-madness-of-the-republican-party-clare-lopez-for-deputy-national-security-advisor/]

    The following statement is very peculiar. It is in a context which suggests that doctrinal principles are critical to understanding Islam not only as a class, but as a daily phemonenon.
    “It is a popular and widespread notion in some quarters that everything that needs to be known about Islamists and Islamism can be understood through reading classical Islamic texts. Such texts are said to represent an unchanging “Islamic Doctrine” that is at the core of not only Islamism but of Islam itself ”

    NOBODY says :everything that needs to be known…can be understood through reading classical Islamic texts”

    But anyone whose job is to analyze muslim networks has a DUTY TO KNOW. (Here is the Taqqaya an instance of itjihad.)

    I commend the Muslim brotherhood watch as a source of data. BUT.. the implausibility of how they explain their strong opposition to the CFCP. That was a tell.
    What I means, I’m not sure.
