This weekend marked two years since New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman announced his official investigation into whether ExxonMobil misled investors and the public about the impacts of climate change. Despite several years and significant resources being committed to the investigation, as well as millions of documents turned over by ExxonMobil, Schneiderman has yet to bring forward any formal charges–making it clear that this investigation has more to do with politics than any presumed “fraud” that Schneiderman and his environmental allies have claimed.

    “Turkish parliament approved on Wednesday the extension for another three months of the state of emergency declared after a failed military coup in July 2016.

    “Turkish authorities have identified 3,000 people within the armed forces believed to be linked to the cleric Ankara blames for a 2016 failed coup, Defence Minister Nurettin Canikli said, adding the individuals would be dismissed in the coming days.

    Canikli was quoted by broadcaster NTV as saying the individuals, suspected of being linked to U.S.-based cleric Fethullah Gulen, would be dismissed from their posts through an emergency decree presented to the prime ministry.”

  7. Italy: Refugees evicted as authorities level Ventimiglia camp

    A makeshift refugee camp under a bridge in the border town of Ventimiglia was dismantled by the authorities on Wednesday, resulting in eviction of its residents.

    Dozens of workers were deployed on site with heavy machinery, removing shanties and tents along with refugees’ belongings.

    Refugees set up a makeshift camp on the main square of Mytilene on Wednesday, calling for a resolution to their status.

    The refugees, who have been stranded on the island of Lesvos for a longer period of time, demanded that the Greek authorities ‘speed up their asylum requests’, reports say.

  10. The Pentagon Wednesday strongly denied a New York Times story that said Defense Secretary Jim Mattis urged President Trump to get congressional approval before launching cruise missiles toward Syria last week, but was overruled by the president.

    The story is “blatantly false,” said Dana White, the Pentagon’s chief spokesperson, in an email to the Washington Examiner.

    The Times account, which was attributed to military and administration officials, said Trump ignored the advice from Mattis because he wanted a “rapid and dramatic response.”

    A Pentagon official who did not want to named insisted “there was no debate” about the need to get congressional approval. “Everyone agreed POTUS was justified under Article II,” the official said.

  11. TEL AVIV — As Israelis prepare to celebrate the country’s 70th anniversary starting at sundown tonight, the Israel Defense Forces are on high alert for the possibility of direct Iranian retaliation for a reported Israeli strike in Syria that targeted an Iran-operated airbase.
    In an unusual move, Iran’s state-run media admitted that seven of its “soldiers” were killed in the April 9 strike.

    Iranian officials have repeatedly vowed retaliation. On Tuesday, Ali Akbar Velayati, a senior advisor to Iran’s Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, warned that Israel’s “crimes will not remain unanswered.” Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi further stated, “The Israeli regime’s aggression against Syria is a breach of this country’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity and runs counter to all international regulations and principles.”

  12. The effects of Brexit are already being felt on public services and in the job market as more children get their first choice of primary school and salaries rise.
    More families across the country received the good news on Monday that their children would be attending their preferred school and it was partly down to Brexit, The Telegraph reports.

    In high-population density London, for example, there were 2.3 per cent fewer applications, so around 1,365 more primary school pupils were accepted by their first choice compared to last year, as European Union migrants left the capital.

    “Schools had been aware that lower birth rates in 2014 would lead to a smaller number of children starting primary school in London this year,” a spokesman for the Pan London Admissions Board said.

    “We believe that high property prices in some areas and the initial effects of the EU membership referendum have also contributed to this easing of pressure at primary level.”

    Bloomberg has also reported that Brexit has boosted wages for British workers, as there are fewer EU workers competing for jobs and depressing wage growth — not just in temporary and lower-paid roles such as in hospitality and catering, but in permanent, skilled roles in engineering and IT.

  13. It was a packed courtroom Tuesday for closing arguments in the case of a man accused of sexually assaulting six teenage girls at the West Edmonton Mall water park last year.

    The girls, who were between 13 and 15 years old at the time, accuse Soleiman Hajj Soleiman of inappropriately touching them in the wave pool in February 2017.

    On Tuesday, two of the girls and their families were in the gallery, along with another victim’s family.

    More than 30 supporters sat in the gallery, including many from the Urban Bulldogs Against Kid Abuse and Guardians of the Children, two biker organizations that advocate against child abuse.

    A handful of supporters for Soleiman included a few sitting with his wife and some who sponsored their family as refugees from Syria.

  14. TL;DR on this: Nova Scotia Government improperly stored documents on a publicly accessible portal. A kid downloaded them. Now, the kid is accused of ‘hacking’ and faces 10 years + in jail to hide the NS Gov criminal carelessness. Plus the NS Gov lied about things along the way…

    Journalists first spotted the problem April 5th, when the FOI portal was taken offline. The Internal Services Minister, Patricia Arab, refused to provide details about the portal’s sudden unavailability. It wasn’t until the following week that the press was given more information and those affected notified.

    Even once the government learned of the breach, it waited until Wednesday to begin notifying affected people. Arab said they held off notifying people was because police suggested it would help them in their investigation.

    Seems logical, except…

    But [Halifax Police Superintendent Jim] Perrin told reporters police did not make that request. He could not say if advising people would have compromised the investigation. The province’s protocols for a privacy breach state it is supposed to inform people as soon as possible, unless otherwise instructed by law enforcement.

    The suspect obtained 7,000 documents from the Freedom of Information portal. Apparently around 250 of those contained unredacted personal information. Here’s how the government portrayed the supposed hacking:

    Government officials said someone got in by “exploiting a vulnerability in the system.” The person wrote a script allowing them to alter the website’s URL, which then granted access to the personal information.

    Internal Services found more than 7,000 PDF documents had been downloaded by a “non-authorized user” in early March. They filed a complaint with police on Saturday.

    A script made it easier, but a script wasn’t required. The URLs for FOI documents are incremental. As software engineer Evan D’Entremont points out, anyone could have done what the supposed “hacker” did.

  15. Multiple asylum seekers crossing the border from the United States into the French-speaking Canadian province of Quebec have been caught in the possession of child pornography.
    The Quebec town of St-Bernard-de-Lacolle, which lies on the border with New York state, has seen an influx of thousands of asylum seekers from the United States in recent weeks.

    The Canadian Border Sevices Agency (CBSA) has reportedly caught “four or five” asylum seekers originally from Haiti possessing sexual material involving children, Canadian broadcaster Global News reports.

    The issue has sparked CBSA Assistant Director Daniel St-Arnaud to put out a memo to border agents which provides guidance on how to handle cases in which asylum seekers have illegal child pornography in their possession.

    The memo states that agents who find such material must report it to both the CBSA Intelligence division, which will then notify the CBSA Criminal Investigation Unit, and the Quebec provincial police.

  16. The European Union, long-promoted as a ‘peace project’ by supporters, is seeking to create a laser weapon which can disintegrate human heads.
    European Commission research programmes officer Dr Erno Vandeweert bragged that the 100-kilowatt weapon, which has been likened to the famous Moonraker laser from the James Bond film franchise, would be so powerful that if its beam struck a human target “the whole head would disappear”.

    But there are concerns that the rush to begin the project before Brexit are an attempt to cut the legs from under Britain’s own pioneering Dragonfire laser — with the help of British tech and EU budget contributions.

    “Anyone who thinks British taxpayers should pay for [European Commission President] Jean-Claude Juncker to play Blofeld with a giant ray gun must be off their heads already,” remarked Taxpayers’ Alliance chief executive John O’Connell.

  17. The White House will welcome German Chancellor Angela Merkel next Friday, April 27, for a meeting with President Trump.

    The two world leaders are meeting as Merkel seeks re-election, and they will be reaffirming the German-American partnership, according to a Wednesday White House statement.

    “On the occasion of Merkel’s re-election as Chancellor, the two leaders will reaffirm the German-American partnership — a bedrock of the transatlantic relationship and the NATO Alliance — as both nations work together to address a broad range of geopolitical and economic challenges,” the statement says.

  19. Ottawa’s transit commission has made its opposition to Quebec’s so-called “niqab ban” official.

    Critics say Bill 62 violates the charter rights of Muslim women who chose to wear a niqab or burka. The bill, which passed last October, bans the wearing of such face coverings by anyone receiving public services, including public transit.

    Mayor Jim Watson announced last year that Ottawa would not enforce the ban when OC Transpo buses travel to Gatineau.

    Transit commissioner Blair Crew commended the mayor, but said the city’s stance should be enshrined in policy.

    “Something like this should not be left to the whim of an individual mayor,” said Crew.

  25. [Roger] Foley’s request to the Centre for Independent Living in Toronto (CILT), where he was directed to apply, was denied last year. Foley asked for a review of that decision, but his lawsuit alleges that the review process has been delayed multiple times as the CILT defaulted on deadlines.

    So he hired lawyer Ken Berger.

    “We don’t really understand why it’s not being solved and why we’ve had to file this lawsuit for Roger,” Berger, who specializes in health law, told CTV News. “We really didn’t want to reach this stage, but we were left with no alternative.”

    According to Foley’s statement of claim, the only two options offered to him have been a “forced discharge” from the hospital “to work with contracted agencies that have failed him” or medically assisted death. Refusing to leave the hospital and unwilling to die by a doctor’s hand, Foley claims he has been threatened with a $1,800 per day hospital bill, which is roughly the non-OHIP daily rate for a hospital stay.

  32. Rumors spread by left-leaning groups alleging President Trump will fire special counsel Robert Mueller have begun prompting official action, with Pittsburgh’s police department preparing for an eventuality the commander-in-chief has said will never come.

    Pittsburgh Police Commander Victor Joseph sent out an email to officers Wednesday saying “there is a belief that President Trump will soon move to fire Special Prosecutor Mueller,” which “would result in a large protest within 24 hours of the firing.

    “Based on this information, beginning tomorrow, April 19, 2018 all Major Crimes detectives are required to bring a full uniform and any issued protective equipment (riot gear) with them to work until further notice,” the message adds.

  33. The Treasury Department slapped sanctions Wednesday on a Syrian man and his criminal syndicate, blaming them for smuggling “hundreds” of illegal immigrants from Syria and Lebanon into Mexico and then helping them to jump the border into the U.S.

    Nasif Barakat and his syndicate, which authorities labeled the Barakat Transnational Criminal Organization, charged about $20,000 to complete the smuggling. The money paid for bribes and for fake documents, including false European passports, to help illegal immigrants hide their identities. The fees also covered transportation from Syria through other Middle Eastern countries to South and Central America, the journey north through Mexico, and final help sneaking into the U.S.

  34. Ban On Possession Of Stun Guns Violated Second Amendment, Mass. High Court Rules

    Massachusetts’ highest court ruled Tuesday that the state’s ban on civilian possession of stun guns violates the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

    The decision marked a reversal for the court, which reached an opposite conclusion in a different case in 2015. The U.S. Supreme Court, however, set aside that earlier ruling, saying the Massachusetts court failed to properly explain its decision.

    The Supreme Judicial Court stayed the effect of Tuesday’s ruling for 60 days, leaving the 2004 state ban in place to give the Legislature time to rewrite the law to regulate the ownership of stun guns, without banning them entirely.

    “We conclude that the absolute prohibition against civilian possession of stun guns … is in violation of the Second Amendment, and we order that the count of the complaint charging the defendant with such possession be dismissed with prejudice,” the justices wrote.

  36. Henda Ayari on Her Salafi Past and Alleged Rape by Tariq Ramadan

    French women’s rights activist Henda Ayari, a Salafi-turned-liberal Muslim, accused Swiss Muslim thinker Tariq Ramadan of raping her at a Paris hotel in 2012.

    In an interview on the Egyptian Dream TV channel on April 7, Ayari, who has founded an NGO to help, among others, women subjugated by Islamic extremists, told her life story and recounted what had happened when Ramadan allegedly lured her to a hotel room and raped her.

    Ayari, who describes herself as “secular feminist who defends women’s rights,” said that she wrote her book, J’ai choisi d’être libre, describing her path from Salafism to liberalism, after the 2015 Bataclan terror attack, when she realized the danger inherent in political Islam and the Salafis.

    The book included a chapter on “Zubair,” whom she later identified as Ramadan. He was someone I admired and trusted completely, “like a big brother or an imam,” she said, describing the alleged encounter. “All of a sudden, his behavior changed. He became very violent toward me.”

    Ayari further said: “I thought I was going to die that night because he choked me and slapped me,” alleging that Ramadan had said to her: “This is what you are asking for because you don’t wear the hijab.”

    Ramadan is currently being detained in France on charges of raping two women, and several other women have made similar accusations against him.

    If collusion is the twin of conspiracy, then there are lots of colluders running around Washington.

    Robert Mueller was tasked to find evidence of Trump and Russia collusion that might have warped the 2016 campaign and thrown the election to Trump. After a year, his investigation has found no concrete evidence of collusion. So it has often turned to other purported Trump misadventures. Ironically, collusion of all sorts — illegal, barely legal, and simply unethical — has been the sea that Washington fish always swim in.

    Christopher Steele, hired by the Hillary Clinton campaign through a series of firewall intermediaries, probably paid Russian sources for gossip and smears. If there is a crime of collusion, then Clinton-campaign contractors should be under investigation for seeking Russian help to find dirt on Trump, to spread smears around throughout the DOJ, FBI, and CIA, and to make sure that the dirt was leaked to the press in the final weeks of the campaign — for the sole “insurance” purposes of losing Trump the election.

  38. The Left’s Campaign to Distort History and Condemn White People
    David Horowitz’s Twitter feed was besieged after he pointed out the obvious.

    Left-wingers have spent the last few days attacking David Horowitz for challenging the Equal Justice Initiative and its efforts to foment anti-white racial hatred by presenting the odious practice of lynching as an exclusively white instrument of racial oppression and terror used against blacks. But history is rarely as clear-cut as radical leftist ideologues pretend.

    Lynchings were carried out in an atmosphere of mass hysteria where enraged individuals acted to eliminate the perceived risk that a guilty person might go unpunished. If the black lynching victim was alleged to have wronged a white person, race-hatred and resentment could be – and in many cases, was – whipped up to a frenzy to ensure the atrocity was completed.

    It cannot be denied that plenty of lynchings were carried out by black-hating racists to terrorize freed slaves from the Reconstruction through Jim Crow eras and reinforce racial segregation, but the notion that most lynchings were carried out by racist whites who randomly snatched black people off the streets and murdered them belongs in the trash with the current accusation that police have declared open season on unarmed black men. Many of those who were targeted in the past had the bad luck of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

    Horowitz has been beaten up online for objecting to the Left’s cynical exploitation of a sad period in the nation’s past. Specifically, Horowitz contends that although race certainly played a role in many lynchings, this does not mean that race was necessarily always the primary motivating factor in extrajudicial executions of blacks. Saying this is not making excuses for lynch mobs. No one disputes that lynching was a disgusting and barbaric practice.

    Research, as Horowitz has pointed out, reveals that not all victims of lynching were black and that those lynched typically were accused of serious crimes. In today’s racially charged environment where the slightest deviation from politically correct orthodoxy can lead to instant ostracism, it needs to be pointed out that Horowitz is not saying that all lynching victims were guilty of crimes or that they deserved what angry mobs did to them. The Sixth Amendment and the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment guarantee basic procedural fairness in criminal trials. Those protections were unjustly denied to the lynched.

    • Vigilantes form when there has been a total breakdown of formal justice and the lynch mobs usually formed because people were afraid that the Judge wouldn’t render a guilty verdict.

      Actual hangings were rare while whipping, tar and feathering and riding the tar and feathered person out of town on a rail were more common. The SF and Virginia City Montana vigilantes tried to use exile more then any thing else but since the criminals often laughed and ignored the exile decree they moved on to more serious punishment. FYI many of the founders of both of the groups mentioned above went on to become members of Congress and Judges.

    “If you’ve read Marx, there’s really no reason to read Howard Zinn,” notes author Daniel Flynn, but many have read Zinn’s million-selling A People’s History of the United States. As Rutgers history professor David Greenberg notes in a 2013 New Republic article headlined “Agit-Prof,” Zinn’s famous book is “a pretty lousy piece of work.” Even so, it gets great reviews within a circle of Marxist academics such as Eric Foner, leftist rockers such as Rage Against the Machine, and actors such as Matt Damon, who in Good Will Hunting tells his psychiatrist that A People’s History will “knock you on your ass.”

    For Howard Zinn, America was evil and capitalism bad – except for his lucrative publishing deal, and prestigious professorship at Boston University. Zinn was pretty quiet about the Soviet Union and what he might have done during the Stalin-Hitler Pact, but Mao Tse-Tung’s China was the closest thing to a “people’s government.”

    In 2010 Zinn passed away at 87 during a swim in Santa Monica. The New York Times noted that the “proudly, unabashedly radical” professor’s A People’s History of the United States, “inspired a generation of high school and college students to rethink American history.” Zinn’s handlers set about transforming the rotting corpse of his work into the keystone of America’s history curriculum.

    “Howard Zinn is no longer just for washed up actors like Ben Affleck and Matt Damon,” wrote Daniel Greenfield in 2012. “His neo-Communist propaganda is being wedged deeper and deeper into the educational system, because teaching kids to hate America is the new education.” Zinn contended that the Constitution was devised solely to formalize the inferior position of blacks, the exclusion of Indians, and the establishment of supremacy for the rich and powerful.

    Hillary Clinton picked Judge Kimba Wood to be her husband’s Attorney General. According to various accounts from the period, Hillary was looking for someone “loyal” who would allow her to stack the Justice Department with her own political allies. It was still early in the game, but Hillary had always been Bill’s main plumber and she was anticipating all of the Clinton scandals that were yet to come.

    Hillary had interviewed Kimba Wood for twice as long as her husband did. But the Clintons had also been allegedly encouraged to pick Wood by Michael Kramer who had been Time’s chief political correspondent and the judge’s husband. After interviewing Bill for Time’s fawning Man of the Year piece, he allegedly suggested that the President of the United States make his wife his Attorney General.

    But even though Kramer had compared Bill Clinton to Lincoln and FDR, it was not to be. Between Wood’s employment of an illegal alien and her past as a Playboy bunny, it was all over. Kimba Wood, whose “rectitude” the media never stopped praising, went on to be involved in a sleazy scandal. She became known as the “Love Judge” for her role in her current husband’s affair. She filed for divorce accusing her former husband of withholding sex. Rectitude doesn’t get more old-fashioned than this.

    As Michelle Obama likes to say, When they go low, we go higher. Here’s another example of how high her movement goes.

    A Fresno State professor called former first lady Barbara Bush an “amazing racist” who raised a “war criminal,” and expressed no concern that she could be fired or reprimanded for her outspokenness on social media.

    Randa Jarrar, a professor in Fresno State’s Department of English, expressed her displeasure with the Bush family within an hour after the official announcement that Mrs. Bush died Tuesday at the age of 92.

    “Barbara Bush was a generous and smart and amazing racist who, along with her husband, raised a war criminal,” Jarrar wrote on Twitter. “F— outta here with your nice words.”

    Jarrar, who in her Twitter messages describes herself as an Arab-American and a Muslim-American woman, goes on to maintain that she is a tenured professor and makes $100,000 a year.

    “I will never be fired,” Jarrar tweeted.

    In a separate tweet, she wrote: “If you’d like to know what it’s like to be an Arab American Muslim American woman with some clout online expressing an opinion, look at the racists going crazy in my mentions right now.”

    Racists apparently being anyone whom she dislikes. But if a prof had made the same comments about Winnie Mandela, the media wouldn’t have stopped until he was out of a job.

    When World War II ended, Washington, D.C.’s population was about 900,000; today it’s about 700,000. In 1950, Baltimore’s population was almost 950,000; today it’s around 614,000. Detroit’s 1950 population was close to 1.85 million; today it’s down to 673,000. Camden, New Jersey’s 1950 population was nearly 125,000; today it has fallen to 77,000. St. Louis’ 1950 population was more than 856,000; today it’s less than 309,000. A similar story of population decline can be found in most of our formerly large and prosperous cities. In some cities, population declines since 1950 are well over 50 percent. In addition to Detroit and St. Louis, those would include Cleveland and Pittsburgh.

    During the 1960s and ’70s, academic liberals, civil rights advocates and others blamed the exodus on racism — “white flight” to the suburbs. However, since the ’70s, blacks have been fleeing some cities at higher rates than whites. It turns out that blacks, like whites, want better and safer schools for their kids and don’t like to be mugged or have their property vandalized. Just like white people, if they have the means, black people can’t wait for moving companies to move them out.

    Child abuse in the schools? Just follow your friendly national neighborhood teachers’ union boss. And then you might find out some of the truth behind the lies.

    Teachers’ union president Randi Weingarten is plotting a teachers’ strike to shut down schools in Puerto Rico, according to a conversation overheard Friday in the first-class car of an Acela train heading to New York.

    Weingarten said she does not want to use the word “strike,” but wants to use the strategy of recent teacher walkouts in Oklahoma and West Virginia as a model to fight against school-choice reforms.

    “We never use the word strike,” Weingarten was overheard saying on the phone in a first-class car. “We are a human shield for the kids … teachers are doing this in the stead of parents and kids.”

    Weingarten said the union’s goal should be “cloaking this in Oklahoma and West Virginia” and asked the unknown person on the other end of the line, “Does that concept work?” Weingarten also mentioned working with the “lobbyists we have” on the plan.

    “We should be careful about the words we use,” Weingarten cautioned.

    “Let everyone call in for a personal day so they can’t open schools,” she said. “Let them call in for a sick day. They’re sick to death about the schools. They’re so anxiety ridden about the schools.”

    It’s only appropriate that Randi was plotting this from the first-class car. The public servants of the people who bleed them dry never settle for anything less than the best.

    But the more significant part of this is how it pulls back the curtain on an organized campaign.

  46. A 24-year-old man has been arrested following a series of “random and unprovoked” attacks in broad daylight on women in and near Toronto’s gay village, police say.

    The suspect is accused of assaulting five women over a span of four days earlier this month.

    The first attack took place in the Yonge and Wellesley streets area at around 8:10 a.m. on April 12.

    Police allege that the suspect threw a rock at two women, minutes apart, striking each of them in the back.

    The second incident occurred one day later on April 13 near Yonge and Dundas streets.

    Police say the same suspect approached a third woman at around 1:10 p.m. and proceeded to kick her in the back of her head.

    The woman sustained a concussion as a result.

    The final two attacks occurred two days later on April 15.

    The word ulama in its Arabic context denotes scholars of almost all disciplines. In the context of Sunni Islam, however, ulama are regarded as “the guardians, transmitters and interpreters of religious knowledge.” With the rise of Islamism as the dominant, state-sponsored ideology, the Turkish ulama have gained prominence: talk shows, books, newspaper columns, sermons and fatwas come in abundance. Devout Turks take them seriously. Secular Turks often mock them. Yet the Turkish ulama provide a rich context for those who want to understand Islamic piety as interpreted by religious scholars.

    Now, according to the Global Gender Gap Report published by the World Economic Forum, Turkey ranks 130th among 144 countries measured. This embarrassing score does not go without good reason. Ironically, women’s rights marchers in Ankara were met with tear gas and arrests on March 5 as they gathered for a protest ahead of International Women’s Day (March 8). After the marchers ignored calls to disperse, Turkish riot police fired tear gas and detained about 15 women. That was how Turkish women “celebrated” Women’s Day.

    Child abuse is also increasingly visible in Muslim Turkey. According to the Turkish Statistical Institute, the number of child sexual abuse cases–- just those actually reported to law enforcement — rose from over 11,000 in 2014 to nearly 17,000 in 2016. Experts say of course that many more cases are not reported.

    Hungary’s hardline prime minister Viktor Orban scored a crushing victory in national elections last Sunday, handing the populist leader a powerful mandate for his anti-migrant platform and leaving opposition parties scrambling to catch up.

    Orban’s Fidesz party won a historic two-thirds of the seats in Hungary’s parliament, giving its leader a fourth term as prime minister after a campaign dominated by fear-mongering and coarse rhetoric focused on immigration and Europe’s response to the refugee crisis.

    The Hungarian government has already sealed its borders to Europe-bound migrants with razor fencing, and its campaign billboards claimed opposition parties — together with government boogeyman George Soros — would open the country to an influx of refugees.

    Despite criticism from many of his European colleagues, Orban’s combination proved overwhelmingly successful.

    “This government has provided for the future of our nation,” voter Andras Hamvas told VICE News in the lead-up to the vote. “We need to defend our freedom against the European Union.”

    Now, as Orban prepares to lead a government with an overwhelming majority, Hungary’s disparate opposition parties are wondering what went wrong and fighting to stay relevant.

  50. Prominent American Islamist Wants Atheists Locked Up

    A prominent conservative Muslim commentator has caused controversy after praising the arrest of an atheist YouTuber in Egypt named Sherif Gaber. Gaber has gained a following making videos critical of Islam in Arabic and posting them online. His activities have drawn the ire of the Egyptian state.

    On March 31, the Salafi Al-Nour party filed a criminal complaint against him for blasphemy. There is now a warrant out for his arrest.

    When Gaber tweeted the news of his impending arrest, American commentator Daniel Haqiqatjou tweeted “Finally.”

    This prompted a Twitter spat between the two of them.
