There is good news though. There is a rumour saying that Julian Assange has OFFERED James Damore A JOB!
Dear god. Please let him accept it if its true. It only takes a single match to destroy a lot of darkness.
UPDATE: YES! He was offered a job at Wikileaks.
Thanks Buck and all who contributed to this post.
“To bolster your online anonymity even more, you’ll have to take drastic measures and start deleting your Google service accounts. While it is possible to shut down parts of your Google account selectively while keeping others intact (cancel your Google+ account while maintaining your Google Reader list, for example), you should probably delete your Google account entirely if you’re concerned about data privacy. Before you do that, consider taking advantage of Google’s Data Liberation Front to download all of your documents, photos, and other personal data from Google’s servers.”

In Jordan Peterson’s latest installment of his Biblical lectures on YouTube, titled “Bible Series X: Abraham: Father of Nations” he spends the first part of the lecture relating his Google cancellation story. (This lecture was delivered on August 1). One of the commenters mentioned: “Peterson tweeted that he’s interviewing him (James Damore) today”.?
“ Of course, I may be biased and only see evidence that supports my viewpoint. In terms of political biases, I consider myself a classical liberal and strongly value individualism and reason. I’d be very happy to discuss any of the document further and provide more citations.”
“ Communism promised to be both morally and economically superior to capitalism, but every attempt became morally corrupt and an economic failure. As it became clear that the working class of the liberal democracies wasn’t going to overthrow their “capitalist oppressors,” the Marxist intellectuals transitioned from class warfare to gender and race politics. The core oppressor-oppressed dynamics remained, but now the oppressor is the “white, straight, cis-gendered patriarchy.””
“ Political correctness is defined as “the avoidance of forms of expression or action that are perceived to exclude, marginalize, or insult groups of people who are socially disadvantaged or discriminated against,” which makes it clear why it’s a phenomenon of the Left and a tool of authoritarians.”
I’m Danielle, Google’s brand new VP of Diversity, Integrity & Governance. I started just a couple of weeks ago, and I had hoped to take another week or so to get the lay of the land before introducing myself to you all. But given the heated debate we’ve seen over the past few days, I feel compelled to say a few words.
Many of you have read an internal document shared by someone in our engineering organization, expressing views on the natural abilities and characteristics of different genders, as well as whether one can speak freely of these things at Google. And like many of you, I found that it advanced incorrect assumptions about gender. I’m not going to link to it here as it’s not a viewpoint that I or this company endorses, promotes or encourages.
Diversity and inclusion are a fundamental part of our values and the culture we continue to cultivate. We are unequivocal in our belief that diversity and inclusion are critical to our success as a company, and we’ll continue to stand for that and be committed to it for the long haul. As Ari Balogh said in his internal G+ post, “Building an open, inclusive environment is core to who we are, and the right thing to do. ‘Nuff said. “
Google has taken a strong stand on this issue, by releasing its demographic data and creating a company wide OKR on diversity and inclusion. Strong stands elicit strong reactions. Changing a culture is hard, and it’s often uncomfortable. But I firmly believe Google is doing the right thing, and that’s why I took this job.
Part of building an open, inclusive environment means fostering a culture in which those with alternative views, including different political views, feel safe sharing their opinions. But that discourse needs to work alongside the principles of equal employment found in our Code of Conduct, policies, and anti-discrimination laws.
I’ve been in the industry for a long time, and I can tell you that I’ve never worked at a company that has so many platforms for employees to express themselves—TGIF, Memegen, internal G+, thousands of discussion groups. I know this conversation doesn’t end with my email today. I look forward to continuing to hear your thoughts as I settle in and meet with Googlers across the company.
All power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely. Lord Acton.
“Changing a culture is hard, and it’s often uncomfortable. But I firmly believe Google is doing the right thing, and that’s why I took this job.”
This “culture” that started Google, now obviously stated, needs changing.
” But I firmly believe Google is doing the right thing, and that’s why I took this job.”
“I’m not going to link to it here as it’s not a viewpoint that I or this company endorses…”
“I’ve been in the industry for a long time, and I can tell you that I’ve never worked at a company that has so many platforms…”
“I know this conversation doesn’t end with my email today. I look forward to continuing to hear your thoughts as I settle in…”

Cultural Marxism was The Frankfurt School’s critique of [The Culture Industry](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Culture_industry). It was an early critique of mainstream media and neo-liberalism. Adorno had things like this to say:
>”The Culture Industry not so much adapts to the reactions of its customers as it counterfeits them.”
>”this bloated pleasure apparatus adds no dignity to man’s lives. The idea of “fully exploiting” available technical resources and the facilities for aesthetic mass consumption is part of the economic system which refuses to exploit resources to abolish hunger.”
>”The ruthless unity in the culture industry is evidence of what will happen in politics. Marked differentiations such as those of A and B films, or of stories in magazines in different price ranges, depend not so much on subject matter as on classifying, organising, and labelling consumers. Something is provided for all so that none may escape” -Theodor W. Adorno, [Enlightenment as mass-deception](https://www.marxists.org/reference/archive/adorno/1944/culture-industry.htm)
Meanwhile Marcuse warned everyone that “progressive politics” could also become repressive and regressive in it’s own ways:
…and The Birmingham School warned that [culture was drifting away](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Uses_of_Literacy#The_.22drift.22) from local culture. Due to the [Massification of culture in the form of the globalization of media + tabloid journalism.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Uses_of_Literacy#Massification_of_culture)
This was a pre-internet critique of mainstream media and neo-liberalism, and ended around the time media became more democratized in the 80s, when the internet began to be foreshadowed with Zines, DIY culture, and public radio/TV. That’s when the tail end of the Birmingham School declared the need to critique mass media [to be kind of over because everyone could talk to everyone.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Encoding/decoding_model_of_communication)
….of course, the right wing conspiracy theorists will say it’s SJWs and a jewish plot that runs the media… but it was actually critiquing the media.
Thanks for the great links – though they make me shudder.
