IAF Attacks Gaza Targets Following Rocket Fire
[T]he airstrikes targeted three terrorist centers and two weapons depots in southern Gaza, as well a terrorist center in central Gaza. Direct hits were confirmed and all aircraft returned safely to their bases, the IDF statement said.
The airstrikes were a response to rocket attacks on southern Israel during the day on Saturday. A rocket was fired from Gaza into Israel early on Saturday, followed by three more in the afternoon, none of which caused any physical injuries or damage.
“The IDF will not tolerate attempts to harm Israeli citizens and IDF soldiers, and will operate against anyone who uses terror against the State of Israel,” said the IDF statement.
It is unclear whether Saturday’s rocket fire was connected to events surrounding the kidnapping of three teenage yeshiva boys from Gush Etzion, as Israel has placed responsibility on Hamas and the PA for the attack – and surrounded Gaza with roadblocks to prevent the boys from being taken there.
