“Iraq’s prime minister has asked parliament to declare a state of emergency after Islamist militants effectively took control of Mosul. Nouri Maliki acknowledged “vital areas” of the country’s second largest city had been seized.
Overnight, hundreds of armed men seized local government’s offices and police stations before taking control of the airport and the army’s headquarters. About 150,000 people are believed to have fled the city.
Sources have told BBC Arabic that they are heading to three towns in the nearby region of Kurdistan where authorities have set up temporary camps for them….”
“A moderate Muslim cleric has been shot dead in Mombasa, the latest killing of a preacher in the Kenyan city. Sheikh Mohammed Idris, chairman of the Council of Imams and Preachers of Kenya, was killed close to a mosque near his home by a group of gunmen.
Reports say he had previously been threatened by radical Muslim youths and had said he feared for his life.
He is the fourth prominent Muslim cleric to be shot dead in the city since 2012. The others were accused of links to the al-Qaeda linked Somali Islamist group al-Shabab and their supporters accused the government of being behind their killings – charges the authorities denied.
Mr Idris had apparently urged the police to deal with militant elements at his mosque, leading some to brand him a traitor….”
“Security forces at Pakistan’s busiest airport in the city of Karachi have come under attack, a day after militants stormed one of its terminals. Officials say gunmen on motorbikes shot at a security training camp just outside the airport and fled.
Subsequent firing which lasted for up to an hour was shots fired by the army and police at the scene, officials say. Flights at the airport are resuming. The Pakistani Taliban say they carried out both attacks.
The gun and bomb attack on the airport’s cargo terminal on Sunday left at least 38 dead, including the attackers….”
“Five American soldiers have been killed accidentally by their own side in southern Afghanistan, US military sources have confirmed. An Afghan soldier and an interpreter also died in the Nato air strike after Monday’s operation in Zabul province
Afghan officials say coalition forces called in air support when they were attacked by the Taliban at the end of the operation. Nato is investigating. Militants have stepped up attacks as foreign combat troops leave this year….”
This ignorant woman has to be eventually exposed… Btw, if seventy percent of people desire sharia to be implemented, then indeed, (a specific type of) religiosity does imply or entail terrorism. What is so difficult to understand about that…

“A Muslim school found to have books suggesting stoning and lashing as appropriate punishments says it is the victim of “hostility”.
Ofsted said some of the library books at Olive Tree Primary School in Luton contained fundamentalist views which had “no place in British society”.
The education watchdog deemed Olive Tree Primary School in Bury Park Road “inadequate” following a visit in May….”
