Important legal decision in France.

From Riposte Laique:

The Tribunal of Orleans recognizes that “Fuck Islam” is not an incitation to racial hatred.

Fuck Islam Get Out!

It is a very important judgement that has just been given by the Tribunal of Orleans this Tuesday the 28th of January. A man, aged 44, described by the press as someone close to the ‘Bloc-Identitaire’ was accused of having [written graffiti] on dozens of public places and halal butcher shops, this message: “Fuck Islam”

The lovers of the French language that we are, can only condemn such words. Why use “fuck”? Doesn’t the French language have the equivalent within its register?

But that is not where the essential debate lies. Found by a patrol, (the police are sometimes more efficacious to find this type of people than actual criminals) the militant was appearing in front of the Tribunal of Orleans where the prosecutor of the republic was demanding 3 months of prison with alternative sentencing that would be suspended and €1100.00 fine.

Defended by defense lawyer Scipiliti, well known to readers of Riposte Laique, the accused was found not guilty of the accusation of incitation to racial hatred. The Lawyer managed to make the difference between critique of dogma of a religion, “it is not a provocation to hatred but of legitimate hostility to a religion. If he had written “fuck the pope” or, “Fuck Christianity” he would not be here” …is what he argued.

No damages or interests as there was no civil components to this, and he had reimbursed the city the cost of cleaning approximately €380.00. Despite all this he will also have to pay an €800.00 fine.

The good news is he is not-guilty of the charge of provocation of racial hatred. It is therefore recognized that to say “Fuck Islam” is not a crime. Within the crowding of previous judgements, Houelebecq that within all religions, it was islam that was the dumbest.

We await for the rest with interest.

  1. 2 points of light:
    1- He’s not described as a “youth”
2- They’re most offended, correctly, because “Fuck” is a loan-word: “Doesn’t the French language have the equivalent within its register?”

  2. Al-Qaeda disavows ISIS militants in Syria (BBC, Feb 3, 2014)
“Al-Qaeda has insisted it has no links with the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIS), which has been locked in deadly clashes with rebels in Syria. An online statement purportedly from the group’s general command said ISIS was “not a branch of al-Qaeda”. Last May, Ayman al-Zawahiri rejected an attempt by the Iraq-based group to merge with the al-Nusra Front in Syria. Since then, ISIS has been condemned for attacking fellow rebels and abusing civilian supporters of the opposition. As many as 2,300 people are reported to have been killed in the confrontations between ISIS’s predominantly foreign fighters and rebels from both Western-backed and Islamist groups. On Sunday, at least 16 Islamist rebels were killed when an ISIS suicide bomber blew himself up at their headquarters in Aleppo province. Another 26 people, including senior military commanders of the Tawhid Brigade, reportedly died on Saturday in Aleppo in twin suicide bombings blamed on ISIS, while a prominent commander of the Suqour al-Sham group was killed in an ambush in Hama, to the south. ISIS fighters have also taken over the Iraqi city of Fallujah in the past month, and face what appears to be an imminent assault by the army…”

  3. Iraq violence: Baghdad car bombings leave 14 dead (BBC, Feb 3, 2014)
“At least 14 people have been killed in a series of car bombings in and around Baghdad, Iraqi officials have said. Police said car bombs exploded in the Hurriya and Baladiyat districts of the capital, while two others went off in the nearby town of Mahmoudiya. Four bodies, all with gunshots to the head and signs of torture, were also found in western Baghdad. There has been a surge in sectarian violence across Iraq in the past year, reaching levels not seen since 2007. The United Nations says at least 618 civilians and 115 members of the security forces were killed in attacks last month. However, its figures do not include casualties resulting from the continuing fighting in Anbar, where Sunni militants linked to al-Qaeda have taken control of parts of the cities of Falluja and Ramadi in the past month…”

  4. Lebanon ‘suicide bomber’ strikes southern Beirut (BBC, Feb 3, 2014)
“A suicide bomber has blown himself up in a southern district of the Lebanese capital Beirut wounding several people, officials say. The interior minister said the bomber detonated explosives in a minibus during rush hour in Choueifat district. The area is home to a largely Christian and Druze population. There has been a spate of bomb attacks in Beirut in recent weeks largely blamed on the rise of sectarian tension over the conflict in Syria. “A man wearing an explosive belt boarded a public minibus in Choueifat and blew himself up,” Interior Minister Marwan Charbel told Lebanon’s Mayadeen television channel. He said at least one person had been killed in the blast, but it was unclear if that was in addition to the suicide bomber…”

I believe that the French do have an equivalent word for ‘fuck’ but I’m not sure what it is. I believe it may be baiser. I’m very poor at languages.

Anyway, the real good news is that ‘fuck Islam’ is okay, but the real test will be when it is acceptable to say ‘fuck the prophet Mohammed (up the arse)’.
Sorry, I couldn’t resist adding the extra bit in brackets!
