620,000 white people moved out of London. What of Vancouver?
More than 600,000 white people have left London, England, in the past decade, according to the BBC. The white population is down to 45 per cent of London inhabitants. What’s happening in Canadian cities?

The British keep track of demographic trends more thoroughly than Canadians, who are not too rigorous about tracking ethnic changes in neighbourhoods.

  • And what the British have found is astonishing: 620,000 white people have left the city of London in the past decade. The white population of London is down to 45 per cent.

What’s going on? Scholars and others are trying to figure it out.

More important for Canadians, could something similar be occurring in cities such as Metro Vancouver and Metro Toronto? They are the two cities most frequently compared with London, England. More than half the population of Metro Vancouver is foreign-born.

No one really knows what is happening with changing ethnic neighbourhoods in Canada, because Canadian demographers seem timid about putting together the numbers.

  1. Off topic… However, I believe this story is worth the read.

Elevated carbon dioxide making arid regions greener

“Scientists have long suspected that a flourishing of green foliage around the globe, observed since the early 1980s in satellite data, springs at least in part from the increasing concentration of carbon dioxide in Earth’s atmosphere. Now, a study of arid regions around the globe finds that a carbon dioxide “fertilization effect” has, indeed, caused a gradual greening from 1982 to 2010.
Focusing on the southwestern corner of North America, Australia’s outback, the Middle East, and some parts of Africa, Randall Donohue of the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO) in Canberra, Australia and his colleagues developed and applied a mathematical model to predict the extent of the carbon-dioxide (CO2) fertilization effect. They then tested this prediction by studying satellite imagery and teasing out the influence of carbon dioxide on greening from other factors such as precipitation, air temperature, the amount of light, and land-use changes. The team’s model predicted that foliage would increase by some 5 to 10 percent given the 14 percent increase in atmospheric CO2 concentration during the study period. The satellite data agreed, showing an 11 percent increase in foliage after adjusting the data for precipitation, yielding “strong support for our hypothesis,” the team reports…”

  2. So they call White European-Canadians, ‘non-visible minority,’ and White European-Americans ‘non-Hispanic Whites.’

Don’t know which is worse, ‘non-visible minority,’ or ‘non-Hispanic Whites,’ but it surely does put our importance in perspective.

  3. The so called elite will never reach the right answer for why people are moving.

Wrathofkhan, in grade and high school I was taught that CO2 increases plant growth, the left has so dumbed down the educational system that even scientist are having to rediscover this fact.
