This article from the Jerusalem Post is quite indicative of the situation on the ground. The fact that Israel feels its necessary to place to installations of the anti ballistic missile system, Iron Dome, which is an expensive proposition to use, on the South border facing Egypt gives a pretty good indication of the state of the peace agreement between Egypt and Israel at this time. We know the Egyptians have increased the military presence in the area passed from Israel to Egypt as a condition of the peace treaty above and beyond what that treaty allows for, under the pretense of allowing the Egyptians to fight ‘militants’ there. Clearly the Israelis are quite concerned about a threat from the southern border from one group or another in any case.

Move comes days after rockets shake Eilat; IDF says deployment part of national plan to test anti-rocket system around the country.

The IDF stationed an Iron Dome rocket-defense battery west of Eilat on Sunday. The move comes days after two Grad type rockets were fired at the Red Sea resort city, apparently from the Sinai Peninsula.
The IDF spokesman confirmed the deployment of the battery, saying that the move was part of a national plan to test the system in various locations around the country.
This tells us what Israel is expecting in the near future, war from all of their neighbors.
