Works for the planned fundamentalist mosque at Bordeaux.
The blowing of the cover on plans for the construction of a salafist mosque in the city’s La Bastide quarter so far kept secret has triggered irate reactions in the southern french city of Bordeaux. Local paper Sud-Ouest revealed on top that the Bordeaux maire was informed about plans to establish a prayer room by the islamists, but did not wish to inform the local population accordingly.
A resident interviewed by Info Bordeaux explained his concerns: ‘Next to the mega-mosque project initiated by the city of Bordeaux, a few steps from here, now we are expected to also live to see that fundamentalists nest in our neighborhood. It’s enough!’ Now the neighbors have assembled in an irate-citizens initiative (‘Collectif d’habitants de la Bastide en colère’), which made the public prick their ears with their ‘La Bastide fundamentalist mosque, no thanks’ appeal.
In their flyer, the interior minister is being invited ‘to stop this project. […] The government has the means to forbid this fundamentalist mosque, but what it lacks is the courage to do so.’ Further, the citizens initiative warns: ‘If they pretend not to hear our demands, then we will find means and ways to make ourselves heard.’
The Front National’s regional secretary, Jacques Colombier, declared: ‘This new islamic cult site is unacceptable. Salafists are not above the law, and [mayor] Alain Juppé must prohibit this illegal installation, because it is being established without a permit. The Front National is utterly unruly with regard to the stealth Islamization and the growing number of mosques in our region. We are not in Saudi Arabia here.’
There has been support from an unexpected side for the patriotic Front National and the irate citizens: The socialist deputy Naïma Charaï considers the situation ‘alarming, because salafists develop a dangerous discourse’.
Two things to point out here:
Firstly, the construction of a Salafist mosque spells real trouble. Your average run-of-the-mill Sunni mosques have been proven to be bad enough, when even the most moderate of masjids (I use the word ‘moderate’ as a uninformed Lefty would use it) have been found to be dens of terrorism, but there are no moderates in Salafism. This is a serious cause for concern.
Secondly, the outrage by residents (a theme becoming more and more popular in Europe) shows that even the French are waking up to the problem of Islamic immigration. Whatever the clueless Left may think, your average Western citizen is no longer fooled by multiculturalist claptrap. I think that ordinary Joe is finally beginning to fight back. They don’t trust the MSM anymore, can’t rely on their cowardly politicians, have lost faith in the police and legal systems, and are now coming out of their politically imposed trances. This is a good thing, but I sense trouble ahead. Could Europe be seeing civil war in just a few years time?
naima charia – religion of peaceful developers of dangerous discourse -rofl!
Softly Bob,
I had a similar reaction to the story and your words resonate with me but I believe it’s a matter of months, not years, and I don’t know if it falls under ‘civil war’ or as the Greeks are saying; invasion… it seems however that things won’t be picking up much speed so long as mayors, councils, ministers etc are more afraid of muslims than they are of treason…
