Melanie Phillips is old enough to know that our freedom of speech was taken away from us when political correctness started, the true name for political correctness is thought control, the left is trying to control what we are allowed to think.
What she is saying about the immigrants coming to the West for freedom is not always true, often the are coming for economic reasons and both are going to refuse to assimilate to the base culture. This lack of assimilation is the problem and one that the left refuses to admit or allow others to try and correct. The only solutions are either massive deportations or centuries of open fighting between the various cultural groups.
