A man attempted to bomb a synagogue in Cairo on Feb. 21, but the device failed to explode, according to Egyptian officials, Voice of America reported. The officials said the man had checked into a hotel across the street from the synagogue, and threw a suitcase holding several containers of gasoline, a one-liter bottle of sulfuric acid, cotton, a match and a cigarette lighter at the synagogue from his hotel window. The device burned briefly but did not explode, and no one was injured. The man left the scene of the incident and Egyptian police have said they are looking for him.
