Austria: “Honour murder” by an Afghan – 37 stab wounds and throat cut+++
A 32-year-old man, who probably killed his friend in this summer with 37 stab wounds out of jealousy, was unanimously found guilty of murder by a jury in the Leoben Regional Court on Monday afternoon. The Afghan was sentenced to life imprisonment. He asked for three days to consider the verdict. The verdict is therefore not yet final. Before that, prosecutor Viktoria Steinecker had pleaded for the conviction in her plea: she considered the evidence and the interrogation of the accused to justify her accusation: “It was an honor killing, not a manslaughter.” The 32-year-old had exaggerated with his descriptions of his alleged drug use on the day of the crime: “He wanted to fool us and tell us a fairy tale.” The convicted man is said to have killed his friend in June with 37 stab wounds and a throat cut. The accused disputed the intention to kill and told the court that he had defended himself. However, the prosecution considered a “coldly planned murder” out of jealousy.

“A new interpretation of the hate speech law, partly grounded in the fear of revenge, means that the police shall intervene against the violation of religious symbols, such as the Quran.
A recent instance of Quran burning by Stop Islamisation of Norway (SIAN) in the city of Kristiansand, which some called Norway’s first, has set off a passionate debate on the acceptance of such actions and the perceived collision between the freedom of speech and freedom of religion.
As the police ultimately intervened to stop SIAN’s demonstration amid a brawl between activists and their opponents, they were acting on a new explicit order from Police Director Benedicte Bjørnland, Norwegian broadcaster NRK reported.
“The violation of the Quran could, in a given context, be a violation of Criminal Code section on hate speech”, Bjørnland said, as quoted by the broadcaster.
Bjørnland said that instances of setting fire to all religious symbols must be handled equally and correctly.
“The message is ‘if you still do it, we will stop it’”, Bjørnland said, admitting that the assessment of whether to intervene in the freedom of expression and assembly is a difficult issue. “Everyone should speak up as long as they do not violate laws, in this case the Criminal Code. We are not an opinion police, but we have guidance, and when we see violations of the given guidelines, we intervene”.
An important reason for the new interpretation is a threat assessment from the Police Security Service (PST) that public Quran burnings could lead to serious revenge attacks against Norway.
“It is true that in recent months PST has been concerned about the consequences a Quran burning can have. We see it as a trigger event for violent actions, and have provided a description of the situation to the police”, PST senior adviser Martin Bernsen said, as quoted by NRK.
However, the police order is not solely aimed at anti-Islamic provocations, but deals with all kinds of religious symbols being desecrated.
Following the demonstration in Kristiansand, one SIAN member was arrested for failing to comply with police orders.
Kristiansand Mayor Harald Furre, who was present during SIAN’s demonstration, condemned the actions.
“I wish the police had intervened earlier and prevented the ignition”, Furre said.
Police chief in the Agder District Morten Sjustøl called such actions controversial, stressing that they stir up strong engagement.
The Foreign Ministry of Turkey later condemned the burning of the Quran, stressing its deep concern about discrimination against Muslims, the hatred of Islam, and the attacks on mosques in Western Europe in general.
SIAN leader Lars Thorsen called the action “a good way to visualise the negative power that Islam is” and made it clear that reprises of the action are not to be excluded.
Stop Islamisation of Norway dates back to the early 2000s and claims to counter the proliferation of Islam, which it views as a totalitarian political ideology that violates the Norwegian Constitution as well as democratic and human values.
Thorsen is no stranger to political controversy, having recently received a 30 day suspended jail sentence and a fine for distributing pamphlets in the Norwegian capital that called Muslims “notorious sexual predators” who “rape in epidemic proportions”.”

After years of criticism, Ulf Kristesson, the leader of the liberal-conservative Moderate Party, has apologised to immigration critics for the unfair treatment they’ve received in a lengthy Facebook post.
Contrary to Social Democrat Prime Minister Stefan Löfven, who recently landed in hot water for vocally denying any connection between escalating violent crime and immigration, Ulf Kristersson emphasised that “long-standing uncontrolled immigration” had indeed “driven serious crime”.
“To the extent that my party has contributed to blaming and ostracising the voices who wanted and dared to raise these problems, they deserve my and my party’s unreserved apology”, Kristersson wrote in a historic statement, admitting that his party is also culpable for the present-day situation. “The responsibility for the many years of unthinkable politics, and the inability to deal with the problems, is shared by many. Including my party, the Moderates”, Kristersson admitted.
According to Kristersson, this negative development “could have been foreseen”, and many voiced their immigration concerns in the 1990s.
“The problems of high immigration and poor integration – coupled with the long-term risks of deep exclusion, strong social tensions and serious crime – have been highlighted by many and in a constructive way. So the developments have been very predictable. However, too many politicians have overlooked this for too long”, Kristersson wrote.
By Kristersson’s own admission, his party “should have acted earlier, clearer, and more powerful”.
“Looking back and learning from mistakes and errors is thus necessary. But not enough. One must also take responsibility through clear political review and concrete action”, Kristersson wrote.
Many welcomed Kristersson’s change of rhetoric.
“Feels very good to me and other Moderates who were strongly critical during the Alliance years and received a lot of internal criticism for this”, MP Jan Ericsson tweeted.

For their opposition to immigration, the Sweden Democrats have long been relegated to being pariahs in the Swedish Parliament despite optimising their vote with each election.
Many saw this as a u-turn, as barely a decade ago, the Moderates led by then-Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt embraced an open-door immigration policy with slogans portraying Sweden as a “humanitarian superpower”. Furthermore, Kristersson himself used to be a fervent proponent of open borders policies during his tenure as the leader of Moderate Youth between 1988 and 1992.
While columnist and fellow Moderate Alice Theodorescu Måwe saw Kristersson’s post as “a way of restoring confidence”, many ordinary Swedes begged to differ, citing recent history.
“For credibility, the Moderates should stop Fredrik R[einfeldt] and his condemnation of Denmark’s border control against Sweden. The Moderates must disavow Fredrik R[einfeldt] and his responsibility for the situation in Sweden before earning back the respect and confidence of the voters”, a user suggested.

Ms von Storch, who sits on the Berlin terror attack investigation committee, told Breitbart London that the government, particularly former Interior Minister Thomas de Maizière, had been informed of the potential terrorist danger posed by Amri nearly a year before the December 2016 attack that killed a dozen people.
“The German government has been dragging its feet on this terror attack since day one,” von Storch said and went on to attack German Chancellor Angela Merkel, saying she took a year to even meet with relatives of the victims.

The witness, a detective chief superintendent, was questioned in the German Bundestag last week and claimed that an official of the Federal Criminal Investigation Office (BKA) had warned him about Amri in February of 2016.
The detective chief superintendent said this source on Amri was ordered by the “top” to stop monitoring Amri, with some pointing to former Interior Minister Thomas de Maizière as being the one who gave the order to the source.
The source — known as a Vertrauensperson (V-Man) in German, a term for informants who give information from within organisations or milieus — claimed that an official of the Federal Criminal Police Office told him he was doing “too much work” on Amri and doubted the value of surveilling the terrorist.
“It seems former Interior Minister Thomas de Maizière was informed and did nothing. We will keep after this scandal and make sure those responsible are held to account,” von Storch told Breitbart London…”

“An adult Afghan migrant is facing trial for sexual abuse of a child after a five-year-old girl claimed that he lured her into his bed and touched her inappropriately.
The incident occurred in April of last year when both the child and her mother slept at an apartment in the commune of Avranches in Normandy, where two Afghan nationals and a Sudanese migrant were also living at the time, La Manche Libre reports.
At around four o’clock in the morning of April 29th, the mother, who slept on the floor of the apartment with her daughter, was woken up by the Afghan migrant’s voice and soon came to the realisation that her five-year-old was in bed with him.
The young girl claimed that the Afghan had tried to make her touch his genitals and the mother soon told the incident to neighbours who proceeded to contact French gendarmerie.
The five-year-old told investigators that the Afghan had put his hand in her underwear and asked her to touch his “hard sausage”. The Afghan denied the claims, saying that the young girl had been the one who initiated the sexual contact with him.
The prosecutor in the case has called for a two-year sentence in the case and a judgement is expected on the 27th of November.
The trend of asylum seekers sexually preying on young children has been seen in many countries since the height of the migrant crisis in 2015.
In Sweden, a migrant claiming to be 17 was accused of sexually abusing a young girl in June and said he did not think he had done anything wrong as no one in Sweden had taught him the country’s laws and societal norms.
In Finland, many were outraged in January after the city of Oulu was rocked by a child sex abuse scandal involving foreign adult men who allegedly sexually abused girls between the ages of 10 and 15.”

Initial reports had two killed but the death toll later rose after two of the wounded protesters died of their wounds.
Fighting also resumed overnight in the Shiite holy city of Karbala, south of Baghdad, between protesters and security forces.
In Baghdad, one protester was killed when security forces used live rounds to repel demonstrators on Ahrar Bridge. The other protester was killed when a tear gas cannister was fired on Sinak Bridge, hitting him in the head.

About 30 officers, including a specialist firearms team, stormed the man´s room Wednesday and discovered two men with an airsoft rifle and appropriate ammunition.

“Socialist Jeremy Corbyn unveiled his “radical”, retro class warfare manifesto that pledged mass renationalisation of utilities, the development of a “humane” immigration system, and plans to extend voting rights to 16-year-olds and foreign nationals.
Speaking from Birmingham City University on Thursday, the Labour leader set out his plans for massive public spending using 1970s-style class war language, pitting the wealthy “them” against the impoverished “us”.
Claiming that “bankers, billionaires, and establishment” figures do not want Britons to have the raft of ‘free’ — ultimately taxpayer-funded — programmes by Labour, Corbyn claimed to be on the receiving end of attacks from the “rich and powerful” and that the “billionaire-owned media makes things up about us”.
“[It is] a manifesto that will bring real change… that the political establishment has blocked for a generation. But you can’t have it. At least, that’s what the most powerful people in Britain and their supporters want you to believe,” he said.
Pledging to tax the rich, Corbyn promised that under a Labour government, “rail, mail, water, and energy” would be renationalised and come into “public ownership” and promised “the very fastest, full-fibre broadband for free” for everyone in the country.
He offered more free services by telling students that Labour “will bring back maintenance grants” and will “make life-long education a right”.
“And yes, we will scrap university tuition fees,” Mr Corbyn said to rapturous applause at the university venue.
In order to pay for all of this and more, Mr Corbyn announced £82.9 billion in tax rises. The party’s funding document outlines that will include increasing corporation tax, increasing income tax on higher earners, a “new national levy” on second homes, “impos[ing] VAT on private school fees”, and getting rid of the Married Persons Allowance.
Further to the party voting in September to ban private schools by forcing them into government ownership and seizing their assets, the manifesto said that the Labour Party would “ask the Social Justice Commission to advise on integrating private schools and creating a comprehensive education system”.
On immigration, the manifesto says that Labour will “establish a humane immigration system”, and, like the Liberal Democrats, will halt the “hostile environment” to illegal immigration.
“Instead, our system will be built on human rights and aimed at meeting the skills and labour shortages that exist in our economy and public services,” the document continued, explaining that the party will increase the flow of low-skilled labour from outside of the EU by restoring the “overseas domestic workers’ visa”.
The manifesto implied that freedom of movement from the EU could continue “subject to negotiations” if the UK leaves the bloc under a Labour government, “but we recognise the social and economic benefits that free movement has brought both in terms of EU citizens here and UK citizens abroad – and we will seek to protect those rights”.
Labour also pledged chain migration of the unskilled for all migrants, writing: “In accordance with our values and domestic laws, we will uphold the right to a family life for British, EU and non-EU residents alike. We will end the deportation of family members of people entitled to be here and end the minimum income requirements which separate families.”
“Labour rules out a no-deal Brexit,” the manifesto explicitly says and outlines that Corbyn will seek a renegotiated soft Brexit deal with the EU and will put that option against Remain in a second referendum.
The deal would be based on a “permanent and comprehensive UK-wide customs union”, “close alignment with the Single Market”, and would align workers’ rights and environmental protection laws with EU standards — a Brexit in name only.
In the party’s most radical pledge, Labour promises to “oversee the largest extension of the franchise in generations, reducing the voting age to 16, giving full voting rights to all UK residents, making sure everyone who is entitled to vote can do so by introducing a system of automatic voter registration, and abandoning plans to introduce voter ID which has been shown to harm democratic rights”.”

Lebanese Shiite tribal warlord Al-Hajj Mohamed Ja’afar led 1,000 armed members of his Ja’afar tribe into battle in Syria. His Dir al-Watan (Homeland Shield) militia fought as a unit of Syria’s V Corps.
With Russian air support, they helped oust Islamic State jihadists from Palmyra in 2016, and later fought in Deir Ezzor. The militia lost 47 men in Syria.

“Officials in North Macedonia say a police patrol has detained a group of 33 migrants found walking through the southern part of the country, near the border with Greece.
Police said in a statement that the group consisted of 21 Afghan nationals, seven Pakistanis, three Iraqis and two Iranians. They were located late Wednesday near the southern town of Strumica.
Authorities said the migrants are believed to have entered illegally from Greece. They were transferred to a detention center in the border town of Gevgelija pending deportation to Greece.
Although the Balkan route followed by migrants trying to reach Europe’s prosperous heartland has been closed since 2016, thousands still use it. They usually pay large sums to smuggling gangs to illegally get them through the closed borders.”

“RUSSIAN President Vladimir Putin has predicted the downfall of the European Union in a chilling warning comparing the bloc’s demise to the collapse of the Soviet Union.
President Putin believes the EU will crumble completely in just 10 years, the same amount of time it took for the USSR to disintegrate on Boxing Day 1991. His remarks hint that the beginning of the end has already started. Putin has already overseen monstrous arms deals with the Balkan state, supplying various weapons for both ground and air combat, including fighter jets, attack helicopters and battle tanks.
The deal comes despite warnings from US President Donald Trump’s administration that Washington would impose crippling sanctions on Serbia should they decide to invest in the deadly weaponry.

MCC prison guard willing to dish on Epstein death, cooperate with IG probe
A Manhattan prison guard is willing to cooperate with a federal investigation into Jeffrey Epstein’s death — even though she’s been accused of goofing off while he hanged himself, her lawyer said Wednesday.
Tova Noel “did not make any efforts to frustrate the Government’s investigation” following Epstein’s jailhouse suicide, defense lawyer Jason Foy said in a statement.
“In fact, Ms. Noel remains available to fully and truthfully cooperate with the Inspector General’s investigation, which is also geared toward uncovering the many problems that existed from the commencement of her employment [and] which continue to plague the Metropolitan Correctional Center.”
Foy didn’t respond to a message asking what sort of info Noel could provide.
Noel also ignored questions from The Post when she bolted from her Bronx apartment building and hopped into a waiting Toyota Prius shortly before 6 p.m.

“France faces yet another record-breaking year for asylum applications after Senator François-Noël Buffet claimed that there had been a 12 per cent increase in asylum applications since 2018.
The previous year saw 123,000 asylum applications, a record year the surpassed the previous highest in 2017. According to the senator’s statement, the country could be facing a total of around 138,000 asylum applications this year, Le Figaro reports.
According to Senator Buffet, a member of the centre-right Republicans, the government does not forecast any growth in applications in 2020 and claims that the number will largely stabilise after next year as well.
He went on to add that the 9.8 per cent budget increase for immigration, a total of two billion euros, may not be enough and added that asylum applications have “almost quadrupled in ten years”.
“France has fallen to a record low this year in terms of the rate of execution of expulsion decisions,” he added, saying that of the 132,000 deportation orders given in 2018, only 20,000 were actually carried out.
Document fraud, Buffet said, was also an increasingly disturbing trend in France with at least 10,000 cases per year, nearly half of them, 48 per cent, in 2018 being for fake identity documents. Nine out of ten of those behind the scams are foreign nationals.
Last year, police in Montpellier took down a fake identity network run by migrants from the Ivory Coast that was said to have cost French taxpayers millions of euros.
Cases of adult migrants pretending to be underage also increased by 127 per cent in 2018 with 822 cases. Such cases have been common across various European countries due to the preferential treatment for minors and it being tougher for the government to deport minor migrants.
In one case earlier this year, it was revealed that a migrant who showed up to a police station in the commune of Angoulême in south-west France claiming to be 17 was actually 47. Authorities discovered his real age after matching his fingerprints to a passport he had previously used to enter Spain.”

“The UN nuclear watchdog on Thursday urged Iran to explain the presence of uranium particles at an undeclared site, as a landmark deal aimed at curbing Tehran’s atomic activities threatens to collapse.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said in a report seen by AFP last week that its inspectors had “detected natural uranium particles of anthropogenic origin at a location in Iran not declared to the agency”.
The agency’s acting head Cornel Feruta said IAEA and Iranian officials would meet in Tehran next week to discuss the matter, adding that the UN body had not received any additional information.
“The matter remains unresolved… It is essential that Iran works with the agency to resolve this matter promptly,” he said at a meeting of the agency’s board of governors.
A diplomatic source told AFP that the IAEA would send a high-ranking technical delegation to Iran next week.
The particles are understood to be the product of uranium which has been mined and undergone initial processing, but not enriched.
While the IAEA has not named the site in question, diplomatic sources have previously said the agency asked Iran about a site in the Turquzabad district of Tehran where Israel has alleged secret atomic activity in the past.
Sources say the IAEA took samples from the site in the spring and that Iran has been slow in providing answers to explain the test results.
US ambassador to the IAEA Jackie Wolcott called the matter, which has occupied the IAEA since January, “profoundly concerning”.
“That Iran has failed to sufficiently address this issue for close to a year is wholly unacceptable,” she said in her statement to the board.
The 2015 deal between Iran and world powers has been faltering since last year when Washington pulled out and started to reinstate punishing sanctions on Tehran.
Over the past few months, Iran has breached several parts of the deal it signed with the US as well as Britain, China, France, Germany and Russia, in which it committed to scaling back its nuclear programme in exchange for sanctions relief.
For their part, Britain, France and Germany have said they are extremely concerned by Iran’s actions in stepping up its uranium enrichment and other breaches.
Enrichment is the process that produces fuel for nuclear power plants but also, in highly extended form, the fissile core for a warhead.
On Monday, the IAEA confirmed Iran’s stock of heavy water for reactors has surpassed the 130-tonne limit set under the agreement.”

Addressing the session of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) here, Prince Abdullah Bin Khalid, Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to Austria, said that Iran’s enrichment at Fordow reactor is a form of blackmail and a threat to the international community.
Heading the Saudi delegation to the IAEA meeting, Prince Abdullah said that reports released by the IAEA on Iran’s violations of the nuclear agreement in terms of enrichment of uranium, the quantity produced from it, the installation of advanced centrifuges, halting all its obligations with regard to research and development, and its recent uranium enrichment at the Fordow facility, amount to blackmailing of and threats to the international community.
“It also underlines the shortcomings of this agreement, and reinforces doubts about the intentions and peacefulness of Iran’s nuclear program,” he said.
Prince Abdullah considered that Iran has misused the economic return from the nuclear agreement in provoking internal unrest in neighboring countries, in light of its insistence on the development of ballistic missiles, supporting terrorist groups in the region, threatening international navigation and maritime straits and destabilizing the security and stability of the region in particular.
“Iran pursues this instead of using that revenue to serve its internal development and improve the situation of the Iranian people and that was reflected by the current internal unrest in Iran, where the Iranian people are fed up with the ideology of its expansionist regime at the expense of its capabilities and needs,” he said.
Prince Abdullah called on the Saudi delegation to take all deterrent measures towards Iran, in order to ensure the maintenance of international peace and security, and to limit Iran’s actions and its aggressive behavior over the past 40 years in the region and the world.”
Refugees claim Greece abused them, forced them to return to Turkey

“Refugees and migrants who have recently been denied entry into Greece said security services there treated them brutally and forced them to return to Turkey.
Turkey’s Anadolu Agency interviewed the refugees who said the Greek security authorities had mistreated and abused them and denied them food and water for two days in order to force them to return to Turkey.
Turkish border guards recently detained 250 illegal migrants in Edirne province near the Greek borders.
The immigrants were Pakistani, Iraqi, Moroccan, Palestinian and Afghan citizens and have been transferred to the Immigration Department in Edirne.
One refugee said Greek security forces took them to a “camp-like” place, confiscated their personal belongings and beat them.
A Pakistani migrant added that they were left for two days without food or water before being transported to a place near the Maritsa River and forced to return to Turkey.
The Greek government announced on Wednesday plans to tighten the country’s immigration management system and replace open camps on the islands with detention facilities.
The government has also said that it plans to relocate 20,000 asylum seekers to the mainland in the next few weeks, the Associated Press reported.
Greek Deputy Defence Minister, Alkiviadis Stefanis said the changes come as a result of increasing numbers of illegal migrants from Turkey, noting that in some areas the number of migrants and refugees exceeds the number of local residents.”

“The crew of a passenger ferry traveling to Ireland from France discovered 16 migrants of Middle Eastern origin stowed aboard in a sealed trailer on Thursday, all of them in good health, Irish police said.
The 16 men were found during a routine inspection on board the ferry while it was traveling from the French port of Cherbourg to Rosslare in southeast Ireland, a spokesman for the vessel’s Swedish operator, Stena Line, said.
Police said they believe all the migrants are adults, but are still seeking to confirm the age of one man who may be a juvenile.
Staff on the ferry, with the assistance of the lorry driver, opened the trailer unit after the discovery and the men were brought to a private lounge where they received immediate medical and welfare care, police said in a statement.
Immigration officers began processing the men under immigration legislation after the vessel arrived in Ireland at around 1440 GMT, it added.
“This has been a traumatic experience for these men and they are being treated with sympathy and compassion,” the statement said.
Police are examining the truck, which they said is owned by a local Irish based-company. The owners and the driver, a male in his 50s who has been a resident of Ireland for over 25 years are co-operating fully with the investigation, police said.
On Oct. 23, the bodies of 39 people, all believed to be Vietnamese migrants, were discovered in the back of a refrigerated truck near London. Two people have been charged in Britain and eight in Vietnam over the deaths.
