Excerpts from recent VOX campaign speech

This speech is getting a lot of press. But very few translations.

Here is just a couple of minutes from this speech which was attended with a Trump like packed stadium. What we know is, given the chance at freedom and individualism, people gravitate to it in masses.

      • Of all those applications, something like 6,000 completed the process. Though final totals not yet available might triple that figure. An expensive and cumbersome business that didn’t generate the revenue anticipated.

        We have legal documentation going back more than 800 years from extended family who did the research. That’s how they avoided deportation from Italy to concentration camp, with incredible help from priests in Spain. (Did Primo Levy wait too long? Or was he Ashkenazi?)

        I thought about it for three years, turned it every which way. Friends in Spain kept encouraging me, but in the end I just couldn’t do it.

        I regret that Ladino will go extinct in my generation. It got me a lot of mileage in Spain. People were charmed hearing their own history come alive.

        But taking citizenship felt like volunteering as an exhibit in a Holocaust museum. Cold and dead. The way most Europeans really like their Jews.
