Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We muse use it while we can.

  1. Terrorist-linked Islamists gathered to pray outside Parliament in Copenhagen – Danish politicians responded by burning the Quran

    Islamists belonging to the terrorist-linked organisation Hizb ut-Tahrir held mass prayer at Christiansborg in central Copenhagen on Friday. At the same time, the immigration-critical party, Stram Kurs (Strict Course), held a counter-demonstration nearby to criticise the organisation and cook “bacon á la Quran” by burning the Quran on a grill.
    Hizb ut-Tahrir’s self-proclaimed goal is to abolish democracy and introduce an Islamist sharia-led society instead.
    In Russia, the organisation is banned and classified as a terrorist organisation. Germany has declared the organisation illegal due to anti-Semitism and anti-Israeli propaganda. China, Turkey, Egypt and several other Arab countries have also banned the organisation.
    The organisation has also appeared in several investigations regarding terrorist attacks in Scandinavia. Truck terrorist Rakhmat Akilov who killed 5, and seriously injured 15 people in Stockholm in 2017 both liked and shared the organisation on Facebook.
    At 12:30 pm on Friday, about a hundred supporters of Hizb ut-Tahrir gathered to participate in the organisation’s Friday prayer outside the Danish Parliament in protest against what they mean is an Islam-hostile climate in the country.
    The organisation holds the country’s “hateful” politicians and media responsible for the development that causes attacks on Muslims.

  2. Woman dies after 11-hour wait to see a doctor in New Brunswick emergency room

    Marianne Porter spent some of the final hours of her life hunched over and moaning in pain as she waited to be seen by an emergency room doctor at Moncton Hospital.

    Porter waited for 11 hours before she was eventually seen.

    It’s a period of time that Porter’s sister, Donna Bordage, believes contributed to her death only hours later.

  3. Guardian Writer: We Have to Kill Capitalism to Save the Planet

    For many years, conservatives like Rush Limbaugh have been warning us that the left’s goals with climate change have less to do with a warming planet than they do with destroying capitalism. Debating the details of global warming with the left, they say, is really a waste of time because this has never been about “saving the planet.” It’s never been about having a fair and honest debate about what we should do to protect the polar bears or prevent the next Sharknado (or whatever it is we’re supposed to be afraid of these days). It’s always been Marxism under a thin disguise.

    Well, we’ve apparently reached the point where the mask is coming off.

    In an opinion piece for The UK’s Guardian newspaper, writer Phil McDuff just came right out and said it: “Ending climate change requires the end of capitalism.”

          Instead of my usual blathering on about the Proper Naming of Things, I’ll tender the quotation from my preface in a 1,700-page book I edited:

          A man who deliberately inflicts violence on the language will almost certainly inflict violence on human beings if he acquires the power. Those who treasure the meaning of words will treasure truth, and those who bend words to their purposes are very likely in pursuit of anti-social ones. The correct and honorable use of words is the first and natural credential of civilized status.

          The degree to which these now-prophetic words have come true takes the measure of how mutilated language has become.

          Staged within his own brilliantly constructed 1984 milieu, Orwell cast disinfecting sunlight on this same linguistic violence in his appendix to that magnum opus, “The Principles of Newspeak“: (reproduced without any emphasis)

          To give a single example – The word free still existed in Newspeak, but could only be used in such statements as “The dog is free from lice” or “This field is free from weeds.” It could not be used in its old sense of “politically free” or “intellectually free,” since political and intellectual freedom no longer existed even as concepts, and were therefore of necessity nameless. The nearest one could come to doing so would be to swallow the whole passage up in the single word crimethink. A full translation could only be an ideological translation, whereby Jefferson’s words would be changed into a panegyric on absolute government.

      Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report on Russian meddling in the 2016 election did not find that any U.S. or Trump campaign officials knowingly conspired with Russia, according to details released on Sunday.

      Attorney General William Barr sent a summary of conclusions from the report to congressional leaders and the media on Sunday afternoon. Mueller concluded his investigation on Friday after nearly two years, turning in a report to the top U.S. law enforcement officer.

      Barr wrote to congressional leaders that “the investigation is not sufficient to establish that the President committed an obstruction-of-justice offense. Our determination was made without regard to, and is not based on, the constitutional considerations that surround the indictment and criminal prosecution of a sitting president,” according to the Daily Mail.

      Democrats aren’t giving up.

      House Intel Committee chairman Adam Schiff insisted on “This Week” that there is “significant evidence of collusion”.

      • Hillary broke the law and put the US national security at risk while she did this but she isn’t to be indicted and punished because it would (according to the idiot) further weaponize the Criminal Justice System. If she and the high ranking members of the Obama Administration that conspired to interfere in the election to ensure that Hillary won.     With its lavish welfare programs, Germany had been the dream destination for refugees from the Middle East and North Africa since the massive migrant crisis broke out in Europe in 2015. The country took in around one million refugees that year, with influx still remaining high for years later.

    Only 56,700 (35 percent) of those applications were approved, with the remaining 105,300 rejected due to being groundless, Sommer added.

    However, the official spoke out against the idea of limiting the quantity of submitted applications by a certain number. “If someone comes with a legitimate asylum reason, then we must recognize it. It’s can’t be all about statistics.”

    President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Sunday voiced the possibility of reverting the Hagia Sophia, which has been used as a museum since 1935 and is considered one of the world’s wonders, to a mosque.

    “This is not unlikely. We might even change its name to Ayasofya Mosque,” Erdo?an said during a live interview with Turkish broadcaster TGRT.

    “This is not a strange proposal,” he said regarding the calls to convert the historical building to serve the purpose it did for half a millennium.

    “As you know, the mosque was converted to a museum in 1935, as a reflection of the (Republican People’s Party) CHP mentality. We may as well take a step and change that,” he concluded, pointing to the harshly secularist policies of the 1930s CHP, which is the main opposition today.

    The Hagia Sophia was built in the sixth century during the Christian Byzantine Empire and served as the seat of the Greek Orthodox Church. It was converted into an imperial mosque with the Ottoman conquest of Istanbul in 1453. The structure was converted into a museum during the strictly secular single-party rule in 1935, but there have been discussions around converting it back to a mosque, with public demands to restore it as a place of worship gaining traction on social media.

    Erdogan moots renaming Istanbul’s Hagia Sophia a mosque

    ANKARA: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan Sunday mooted the possibility of renaming Istanbul’s Hagia Sofia museum as a mosque, in comments during a television interview.

    Asked whether the entrance fee to the city landmark might be waived, he said: “It’s not impossible… but we would not do it under the name ‘museum’ but ‘Hagia Sophia mosque’.”

    He added: “Tourists come and go at the Blue Mosque. Do they pay anything? … Well, we will do the same with the Hagia Sofia.”

    The former church and mosque, now a museum, often sparks tensions between Christians and Muslims over Islamic activities held there including the reading of verses from the Koran or collective prayers.

    Its secular status allows believers of all faiths to meditate, reflect or simply enjoy its astonishing architecture.

    But calls for it to serve again as a mosque have caused anger among Christians and raised tensions between historic foes Turkey and Greece, both NATO members.

    Erdogan is currently campaigning for votes for his Justice and Development Party (AKP) ahead of municipal elections on March 31.

    A secret Government report has warned that more than 3,000 British children are being taken to Pakistan each year and enrolled in extremist summer schools.

    The chilling Home Office study says courses at madrasas teach a ‘glorified version of jihad’, according to a source.

    Officials fear some youngsters will be radicalised and return to the UK with a warped ideology and pose a terrorism risk.

    ‘It is highly likely that this education in Pakistan, even for short periods of time, increases the risk of exposure to extremism for British-Pakistani children,’ the source told The Mail on Sunday.

    ‘Enrolment at madrasas poses the greatest risk of exposure to more serious forms of religious extremism.’

    Two of the 7/7 bombers, Mohammad Sidique Khan and Shehzad Tanweer, enrolled on madrasa courses in Pakistan a year before they launched their deadly attack in 2005, which killed 52.

    But the security services have established that some Pakistani parents take their children back to their native homeland during summer holidays under the pretext of visiting extended family.

    In reality, they sign them up for lessons at some of Pakistan’s estimated 20,000 madrasas.

    The report says some of those madrasas receive funds raised in Britain and that UK-based imams have established seminaries in their ancestral homeland.

    It identifies three madrasas of concern – the Darul Uloom Haqqania (DUH) madrasa in the remote Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region bordering Afghanistan; the Jamia Binoria in Karachi and Jamiatul Uloom Ul Islamia in Azad Kashmir.

    Each has denied involvement in extremism. The DUH madrasa has previously been labelled the ‘University of Jihad’ because former students include Asim Umar, an Al Qaeda leader, and it awarded an honorary doctorate to the former Taliban leader Mullah Omar.

    There are also fears that British taxpayers may have inadvertently provided it with funds.

    The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, which controversially handed a £2.2 million grant to the madrasa in 2016, will have received £283 million from Britain to help boost education when a ten-year project ends in 2020.

    Denying any involvement with extremists, the madrasa’s chief Maulana Hamid ul Haq said: ‘If you ask questions about the ‘Taliban’, ‘Taliban’ is a term used for students so we call all students ‘Taliban’.

    If some of the students turn violent or extremist, then what can we do? We have nothing to do with it.’

    The Jamia Binoria madrasa has been accused of adopting a ‘pro-jihadi and anti-Western stance’ and has reportedly enrolled foreign students. However, an official said British students no longer attended and the madrasa had no involvement in extremism.

    The British founder of the Jamiatul Uloom Ul Islamia madrasa, based in Mirpur, also denied any links with terrorism. Haji Bostan, from Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, said no British students had enrolled and that no form of extremism was taught.

    A Department for International Development spokesman said: ‘All funds for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are for agreed purposes. It does not include funding for madrasas.’

    Prime Minister Soumeylou Boubeye Maiga said the Dan Nan Ambassagou association, composed of Dogon hunters, had been dissolved to send a clear message. “The protection of the population will remain the monopoly of the state,” Maiga told journalists.

    “For some time, the Dan Nan Ambassagou Association has departed from its initial objectives, despite repeated warnings from local administrative authorities,” the government said in a statement.

    After a meeting of its fighters on March 20, the group said that due to “attacks of armed bandits dressed in uniform” it would resume patrols “in order to secure the people and their property.”

    Survivors of Saturday’s attack said ethnic Dogon hunters carried out the deadly raid in Ogossagou.

    Chad replaces senior armed forces staff
    Meanwhile, Chad’s President Idriss Deby fired his armed forces chief of staff following the latest bout of unrest which culminated in a Boko Haram attack at Dangdala on Lake Chad that left 23 dead, the deadliest attack on the Chadian military by the jihadist group.

    On Friday night, just hours after the attack, Deby replaced Brahim Seid Mahamat and his two deputies by presidential decree after six years in the post.

    Lieutenant General Taher Erda, the Army Chief of Staff and a former director general of the National Police, was appointed Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, with Major General Djimadoum Traïna as first deputy and and Major General Touffa Abdoulaye as second deputy, Tchad Infos reported.

    Erda is a Deby loyalist who fought alongside the president before he took power in a coup in 1990.

    Major General Baharadine Adoum Haggar replaced Erda as Army Chief of Staff.

    A general from the northeastern region of Tibesti was made chief advisor on national defence issues, AFP reported.

    Supporters held up photos of Senussi behind bars and placards reading “Freedom to prisoners. Yes to national reconciliation”.

    Senussi was extradited in September 2012 by Mauritania, where he had fled after Gaddafi was overthrown and killed.

    He and Saif Islam had been the subject of an International Criminal Court arrest warrant for suspected war crimes during the 2011 uprising, which in 2013 gave Libyan authorities the green light to put him on trial.

    He is being held in the capital, along with some 40 other senior officials from the Gaddafi regime, including the dictator’s last Prime Minister Baghdadi al-Mahmoudi. Seif al-Islam was captured and imprisoned by an armed group in the northwestern city of Zintan and sentenced by a Tripoli court in absentia.

    The group announced his release in 2017 but it was never confirmed and his fate remains unknown.

    In parallel, the Interior Ministry of the Tripoli-based GNA Ministry, for its part, released a statement barring the “organization of the right to peaceful demonstration, given current national security conditions and the dangers entailed on acts of sabotage which affect both the homeland and the citizen.”

    The 2,600-MW Faisaliah Solar Power Project is being developed by the Ministry of Energy in co-ordination with Development Authority of Makkah and is set to be implemented in stages.

    As per the MoU, 600 MW will be offered by the Office of Renewable Energy Projects Development (Repdo) in a public tender this year, while the Public Investment Fund and its partners will implement 2,000 MW directly.

    This is an important step forward to achieve the strategic goals of renewable energy in the Kingdom, and the optimal utilization of energy and resources in line with the Saudi Vision 2030, Falih said after signing the MoU.

    Saudi Arabia, which is moving away from burning crude for power generation, has plans to increase power generation from renewables.

    About 9.5GW of solar and wind capacities had been earlier earmarked for development by 2023.

    A contract was awarded earlier this year to develop a 400MW wind project in the north.

    Last year the Kingdom also awarded a 300-MW utility-scale photovoltaic solar plant to be built in the northern Al Jouf area.”

    Extreme deprivation

    “Pakistan is quite well off in wheat production,” comments Dr Kaiser Bengali, a veteran economist, who has done field research on poverty and hunger in the country, but adds that much of it is sold for export.

    This means ordinary people in the country may not have access to it, and if they do they may not have the resources to pay for it.

    “Affordability is the biggest challenge here in Pakistan,” he says.

    Karachi is Pakistan’s financial capital, but Bengali says he has seen alarming examples of poverty and deprivation there.

    “In our surveys we came across the kids who had never eaten an apple, and when we offered him an apple he was reluctant to take the bite wondering whether it was an edible thing or not,” Bengali reveals.

    “In another case a family had never had eggs in their whole lives,” he adds.

    A survey of the state-run Planning Division in 2017 found that 40 per cent of Pakistan’s population lives in multi-dimensional poverty.

    That means they are not just short of money, but are also facing a shortage of basic needs, including health, clean water, and electricity, among other factors — all of which can impact their access to food.

    “Poor physical infrastructure, particularly in the remote rural areas throughout Pakistan is also a limitation on access to food and influences market prices,” according to a recent statement from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

    “This is also linked to inadequate water and sanitation, education and health service delivery, which together with the lack of awareness of appropriate dietary intake contributes to greater food insecurity and malnutrition.”

    Tharparkar district is frequently highlighted in Pakistan’s media because of its high rate of child deaths, with politicians blaming the situation on drought — but economists and physicians say that is not the sole explanation.

    Bearing large numbers of children from a young age takes its toll on women’s health, but also impacts the well-being of the foetus and ability to breastfeed a newborn.

    In Pakistan, only 38 per cent of babies are fed breast milk exclusively during their first six months in line with UN recommendations.

    This low figure is blamed on local traditions, the heavy workloads of mothers and powerful marketing by the milk industry.

    Many mothers are told to feed their newborns tea, herbs, which can stunt growth. Some are unnecessarily persuaded to use formula instead of breastmilk by doctors.

    This can introduce health problems if the water use to make it is unclean, or if poor families scrimp on the amount of powder to create the drink.

    Sindh’s high number of child deaths are the result of a vicious poverty cycle that begins with malnourished mothers, agrees Bengali.

    He adds: “An infant is not fed with wheat or solid food.””

    “In a detailed statement issued on Sunday, Egypt’s State Information Service (SIS) accused the British Broadcasting Cooperation (BBC) of “promoting the lies of the Muslim Brotherhood terrorist group” in an “inflammatory article” published on the BBC’s Arabic-language website.

    The SIS has accused the BBC of “literally turning themselves into a propaganda tool of media outlets directly affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood,” and has summoned the head of the BBC’s Cairo office over the article, which is titled ‘#Rest_assured_you_are_not_alone campaign renews calls for protests against Sisi’.

    “The Brotherhood are considered a terrorist organisation by Egypt and several countries including the United Kingdom… which officially classified Hasm and Lewaa Al-Thawra – two organisations affiliated with the Brotherhood – as terrorist groups,” the SIS said.

    The SIS slammed the article for describing a call for protests on Twitter by a pro-Brotherhood TV presenter as a “campaign,” adding that this call has not gained any traction in Egypt.

    The SIS said that the article propagated false reports by posting videos from Brotherhood-affiliated media that purports to show anti-government protests in several Egyptian governorates.

    The statement also rejected the article’s caveat that the authenticity of the videos had not been verified by the BBC.

    “This violates universal professional codes of conduct, as the BBC’s Cairo office with its dozens of correspondents nationwide should have tried to actually investigate whether the content of these videos was authentic,” the SIS stated.

    “The BBC’s failure to take this necessary step before publishing the article seems intentional in order to legitimise the allegations of media outlets affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood — a terrorist organisation,” the statement said, adding that not a single foreign correspondent from any other news outlet reported on any such protests in Egypt.

    “It seems the Brotherhood are the only ones who witnessed [these protests] and the BBC is the only accredited foreign media outlet that has promoted them,” the SIS said.

    The statement also slammed the article for failing to include any comments from Egyptian officials about the matter.

    The SIS said that the BBC should immediately give a formal apology for the article, and called on “all Egyptian officials and the intelligentsia to boycott the BBC and refrain from giving any interviews or statements to its correspondents until it formally apologises… and takes the necessary administrative and professional measures to undo the violations it has committed.”

    This is not the first time the SIS has accused the BBC of publishing false news about Egypt.

    In March 2018, the SIS slammed the BBC over a TV report alleging torture and forced disappearances of Egyptian opposition members by Egyptian security forces.

    In October 2017, the SIS denounced the BBC and Reuters for reporting a false death toll in a terrorist attack in Egypt’s El-Wahat area.

    For over a year the State Information Service (SIS) has exerted strenuous and serious efforts with the British Broadcasting Cooperation (BBC) through both its Cairo office and its main office in London in order for the latter to abide by objectivity, neutrality and the universal professional codes of conduct.

    These efforts resulted in BBC’s compliance for a few months with the aforementioned standards, however this was not to last, as on March 22nd 2019 BBC posted content on its Arabic website that not only breaches the most basic codes of conduct, it actually surpassed that and reached the level of fabricating events that never took place, by that literally turning themselves into a propaganda tool of media outlets directly affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood. The Brotherhood are considered a terrorist organization by Egypt and several countries including The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland which officially classified Hasm and Liwaa al-Thawra – two organizations affiliated with the Brotherhood – as terrorist organizations. BBC’s Arabic website posted an inflammatory and offensive article under the title “Be assured you are not alone campaign renews its calls for protests against Al-Sisi”

    This politicized and misleading article carries several professional flaws including the following:

    The title is inaccurate and does not correspond to reality as it has described a call for protests on twitter by a pro Brotherhood TV presenter as a campaign which is not true as this call for protests did not gain any traction in Egypt to be termed as such.

    The article included 3 videos of two Turkey based Pro Brotherhood TV presenters and footage of alleged protests which were 6 minutes long. False claims of a nationwide wave of demonstration in response to the call of one of the presenters were propagated in these videos as well. The article to not raise any of the essential questions regarding the veracity of these videos.

    The article resorted to the usual method of stating that the authenticity of these videos were not verified to clear themselves of any responsibility. This violates universal professional codes of conduct, as BBC’s Cairo office with its dozens of correspondents nationwide should have tried to actually investigate whether the content of these videos was authentic or not. BBC’s failure to take this necessary step before posting the article seems intentional in order to legitimize the allegations of media outlets affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood (A terrorist organization).

    If BBC was actually keen on verifying the truthfulness of the content that was originally broadcasted by the 2 pro Brotherhood TV channels, it would have approached to 1500 foreign correspondents who represent 300 international press and media institution to see whether they covered any of the alleged events reported. In reality not a single foreign correspondent posted any coverage related to these fake protests; it seems the Brotherhood are the only ones who witnessed them and the BBC is the only accredited foreign media outlet to promote them.

    The article was completely and bluntly biased content wise to the pro Brotherhood TV presenters. The article dedicated 16 lines to the fake protests and their hashtag, while covering the opposing hashtag “Be assured Sisi you are not alone” in only 6 lines. The article included 7 pictures of twitter of pro Brotherhood twitter accounts and only 3 pictures of accounts supporting the pro Sisi hashtag.

    The article included the text of a long post made by an account named Khayaly Wase’e (My wide imagination) on twitter, even though it is clear that this account is fake and does not carry a real name, yet the article included the fake account’s post at a time when the world faces the phenomenon of fake accounts where on person can have thousands of accounts as a method to spread misleading ideas.

    The article did not include any comments from any Egyptian official to either verify the content or include the government’s perspective. The article not mentioning that BBC tried to approach any official for comment further supports this fact.

    This article cannot be justified by arguments such the BBC merely covering the content of social media outlets as part of a TV show that covers social media trends, as universal norms dictate that the no media outlet should spread the ideas and allegations of terrorists, and New Zealand has set a great example in this regard in dealing with the recent catastrophic mosque terrorist attack.

    The article completely ignored the fact that one of the two TV presenters affiliated with the Brotherhood actually instigated the people to murder Egyptian policemen on his TV show ((https)://(www).youtube(.)com/watch?v=XcMqL4ap0Vg). BBC’s stance of this matter makes them complicit in spreading violence and calls for murder which in turn violates British laws, international law and all professional norms universally agreed upon.

    Based on the aforementioned SIS has decided the following:

    Directing this statement and an official letter to the head of BBC’s Cairo office through the Director General of the SIS Press Center after summoning the former.

    SIS calls upon the BBC to immediately present a formal apology in the same manner they broadcasted the inflammatory article which was filled with professional flaws and unfounded claims.

    SIS urges BBC to take into account all the reservations the former’s official statement has made regarding the article and its content. BBC should also take all the necessary professional and administrative measures to rectify all the offenses that were committed.
    SIS in its capacity as the agency responsible for foreign correspondents in Egypt, and Egypt’s image in the global media calls upon all Egyptian officials and the intelligentsia to boycott the BBC and refrain from giving any interviews or statements to its correspondents until it officially apologizes for posting an inflammatory offensive article and takes the necessary administrative and professional measures to undo the violations it has committed. SIS stresses that this boycott does not include or violate BBC’s and other media outlet’s right to seek the information needed for them to undertake their functions.

    Finally, SIS will follow thoroughly all developments related to the unfortunate article by the BBC; SIS also takes into account all the legal alternative provided by Egyptian laws that regulate the work and conduct of foreign correspondents in Egypt in accordance with internationally upheld professional rules of conduct.”
