Daily Links Post graphic

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We muse use it while we can.

  1. Graffiti in Utrecht. Literal translation is “half your ass will open”. A variation on gunman Gökmen Tanis’ streeter, where he told the interviewer “half your ass is open”. So, a creative way to say “don’t drop the soap”:

  2. A jewish shop owner and his son were stabbed by a Egyptian (muslim) salesman a few days ago. According to one of the victims, the man spent time in the ME recently and came back radicalized (shaved head, traditional clothes, painted slogans on his house). The muslim man had been standing in front of the shop all day, reciting from the Quran, staring down the shop owner.
The owner had reported him to the city council days before as potentially radicalized. He was called back, they told him the man was harmless.

  6. Five British Commandos Injured in Secret Operations in Northern Yemen – Reports (sputniknews, Mar 24, 2019)
    https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/201903241073499886-yemen-british-commandos-secret-involvement/

“London was not previously thought to be directly involved in fighting in Yemen against the Houthi militia, even though it was known to have supplied arms and training support to Saudi Arabia for many decades.

Five British special forces troops from the Royal Navy’s Special Boat Service (SBS) have been injured in firefights with Yemeni militia, the Mail on Sunday has reported, citing a SBS source.

“The guys are fighting in inhospitable desert and mountainous terrain against highly committed and well-equipped Houthi rebels. The SBS’s role is mainly training and mentoring but on occasions they have found themselves in firefights and some British troops have been shot,” the source, speaking to the Mail on condition of anonymity, said.

According to the source, injuries included a gunshot wound to one soldier’s hands and a gunshot wound to another’s leg, with the troops sent home to the UK to recover. “Obviously nothing about the mission will be confirmed publicly by the Ministry of Defence unless a UK soldier is killed –they’d have to announce that,” the source noted.

Up to 30 SBS troops are said to be based in the Sa’dah area of northern Yemen, with much of the province held by the Houthis militia, who took control of wide swatches of the southern Arabian country in 2015 after overthrowing the government of Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi in a popular uprising.

The UK’s Ministry of Defence has not commented on the Mail on Sunday’s report…”

  8. Terrorism fears as 3,000 UK children a year go to ‘jihadi’ schools in Pakistan, secret government report reveals (dailymail, Mar 24, 2019)
    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6842855/Terrorism-fears-3-000-UK-children-year-jihadi-schools-Pakistan.html

“A secret Government report has warned that more than 3,000 British children are being taken to Pakistan each year and enrolled in extremist summer schools.

The chilling Home Office study says courses at madrasas teach a ‘glorified version of jihad’, according to a source.

Officials fear some youngsters will be radicalised and return to the UK with a warped ideology and pose a terrorism risk.

‘It is highly likely that this education in Pakistan, even for short periods of time, increases the risk of exposure to extremism for British-Pakistani children,’ the source told The Mail on Sunday.

‘Enrolment at madrasas poses the greatest risk of exposure to more serious forms of religious extremism.’

Two of the 7/7 bombers, Mohammad Sidique Khan and Shehzad Tanweer, enrolled on madrasa courses in Pakistan a year before they launched their deadly attack in 2005, which killed 52.

But the security services have established that some Pakistani parents take their children back to their native homeland during summer holidays under the pretext of visiting extended family.

In reality, they sign them up for lessons at some of Pakistan’s estimated 20,000 madrasas.

The report says some of those madrasas receive funds raised in Britain and that UK-based imams have established seminaries in their ancestral homeland.

It identifies three madrasas of concern – the Darul Uloom Haqqania (DUH) madrasa in the remote Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region bordering Afghanistan; the Jamia Binoria in Karachi and Jamiatul Uloom Ul Islamia in Azad Kashmir.

Each has denied involvement in extremism. The DUH madrasa has previously been labelled the ‘University of Jihad’ because former students include Asim Umar, an Al Qaeda leader, and it awarded an honorary doctorate to the former Taliban leader Mullah Omar.

There are also fears that British taxpayers may have inadvertently provided it with funds.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, which controversially handed a £2.2 million grant to the madrasa in 2016, will have received £283 million from Britain to help boost education when a ten-year project ends in 2020.

Denying any involvement with extremists, the madrasa’s chief Maulana Hamid ul Haq said: ‘If you ask questions about the ‘Taliban’, ‘Taliban’ is a term used for students so we call all students ‘Taliban’.

If some of the students turn violent or extremist, then what can we do? We have nothing to do with it.’

The Jamia Binoria madrasa has been accused of adopting a ‘pro-jihadi and anti-Western stance’ and has reportedly enrolled foreign students. However, an official said British students no longer attended and the madrasa had no involvement in extremism.

The British founder of the Jamiatul Uloom Ul Islamia madrasa, based in Mirpur, also denied any links with terrorism. Haji Bostan, from Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, said no British students had enrolled and that no form of extremism was taught.

A Department for International Development spokesman said: ‘All funds for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are for agreed purposes. It does not include funding for madrasas.'”

  9. ISIS plot to arm and fund TERRORISTS hidden in Europe as last territory falls in Syria (express, Mar 24, 2019)
    https://www.express.co.uk/news/world/1104536/isis-news-terrorist-plot-europe-terror-alert-syria

“ISIS DOCUMENTS found in Syria reveal plans by the sadistic jihadis to arm and fund terrorists already living in Europe, according to reports.

The files were found in a hard drive dropped by an ISIS fighter in a liberated area in the Syrian desert. The disk, uncovered by Louise Callaghan from the Sunday Times, includes documents containing the names of hundreds of fighters, their budgets and correspondence. In one letter reportedly written in January, a senior militant outlined a plan to help sadistic ISIS members living in Europe commit attacks. The letter, written in formal Arabic and addressed to a local ISIS leader in Syria, also detailed plans to bring ISIS fighters from abroad to Syria.

Written in third person, the letter states: “The brother has individuals who want to work in areas far away from the Islamic State.

“He has permission to be in touch with them and for them to carry out the operations.

“Before they carry out the operations, they will send us the targets if the connection is secure.

    “Otherwise, they do the operation.

“And by the will of God we will meet all of their needs, for those who want it.

“These needs, however, must be “realistic and reasonable.”

In another letter, the same fighter, allegedly addressing ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, said: “We send you, God protect you, our proposal, which is the establishment of crocodile cells.

“Their work will be limited to killing the enemies of God and taking their money and sending it to you — if you’d like.

“You only need to point with your finger to any territory where you think there is danger to the Islamic State, and we will put their leaders on the ground, by the will of God.”

The uncovering of the terrifying details comes after US-backed forces yesterday declared ISIS’s five-year “caliphate” is over after they were defeated in Syria.

US President Donald Trump praised the “liberation” of Syria, but added: “We will remain vigilant against ISIS.”

ISIS swept through the Middle East in 2014, taking large swathes of Iraq and Syria.

The callous killers erased the Iraq-Syria border and called on supporters worldwide to join a jihadist utopia which was complete with its own currency, flag and passport.

The production of oil, extortion and stolen antiquities financed their agenda which included slaughtering minorities, grotesque punishments for minor crimes, and the killing of hostages.

They imposed a reign of terror during the caliphate but were brought to their final ruin in the village of Baghouz.

However, despite their fall, jihadists across the world show no sign of recanting their allegiance and intelligence services believe devotes living in crocodile cells might plot new attacks in the West.

Acting US Defence Secretary Patrick Shanahan said in a statement: “While this is a critical milestone in the fight against ISIS, we understand our work is far from complete.””

    • The Portugal Connection in the Strasbourg-Marseille Islamic State Terrorist Network

In Nov. 2016, French authorities arrested seven men in Strasbourg and Marseille on suspicion of planning a terrorist attack in the Paris region. During the following months, a total of 14 people were arrested in five different countries in relation to the plot. The arrests were the result of a large-scale investigation that saw cooperation between Portugal, Spain, France, Germany, and Morocco.

Information… sheds new light on how this network spread throughout Europe; how it was linked in various ways to the Islamic State network behind the Nov. 2015 Paris and March 2016 Brussels attacks; how the network financed itself through credit card fraud; and how it used encrypted communication apps to receive instructions from Syria.

Behind it all were two men who entered Europe through Portugal posing as political refugees. With Portugal previously being used as an operational base for the Basque terrorist group ETA, the case raises concerns that countries in which security services are less geared up to confront jihadi terrorism are being used as logistical hubs by Islamic State networks.…

  10. Miami police chief latest to refuse to cooperate with ICE in detaining illegals

He’s not quite on a par with Travis County, Texas Sheriff Sally Hernandez, who puts sanctuary for illegal aliens above her own deputies’ lives, but Miami Police Chief Jorge Colina is equally undeserving of wearing a badge, much less heading a department.

Colina, a 28-year veteran who came to his job in January 2018 promising to “forge better partnerships with federal agencies,” recently put out the opposite message, telling Spanish-language radio station WURN:

  11. BBC Chief: Use of Term ‘Mainstream Media’ Is ‘Assault on Freedom’ (breitbart, Mar 24, 2019)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2019/03/24/bbc-term-msm-abuse-freedom/

“The use of terms like “mainstream media” and growing distrust in “the establishment” are an “assault on freedom of expression”, the head of the BBC has claimed.

BBC director-general Lord Tony Hall said the effects of globalisation have fuelled a “progressive erosion of trust in … all those perceived as expert or elite” he complained, warning that journalism was under attack from “a crisis of faith in our traditional institutions”.

In a speech to the House of Lords this week, the 68-year-old life peer said he remembered “an age when … journalists could command the attention and respect of a whole country with the quality of their craft.”

Now, reporters for media outlets like the BBC face “attempts to target, troll [and] intimidate them” in addition to “constant anonymous threats online, simply for reporting on opinions that others might not want to hear”, he alleged.

Lamenting that “the phrase ‘mainstream media’ is now a term of abuse”, he professed to be “really worried” about public scepticism towards what he described as “traditional journalism”, insisting that these developments amounted to “more than an attack on journalists. [They amount] to a campaign to denigrate their craft”.

Major forces which “feed into this atmosphere” include a global rise in “disinformation” along with misuse of the phrase “fake news”, according to the BBC chief, who claimed he had traced the second phenomenon back to the 2016 U.S. Presidential race.

“It still felt to many of us like an act of desperation to dismiss palpably accurate stories from some of America’s most reliable media as being complete fabrications. But it worked. And now the ‘fake news’ tag is used worldwide,” Hall conplained.

Disinformation is “the weapon of choice for repressive regimes everywhere … Russia is the obvious example”, he continued, asserting that the Kremlin works “tirelessly” to “flood the world with stories, the more confusing and contradictory the better”, and uses tactics such as “sarcasm and mockery” in a bid to fuel “mass disbelief” and “encourage people to abandon the very idea of ‘truth’”.

“Fake news is now the poison in the bloodstream of our societies — destabilising democracy and undermining trust in institutions and the rule of law,” insisted Lord Hall, going on to highlight several examples of disinformation which he said sparked real-world violence and disruption to political campaigns.

Despite having singled out Russia as the “obvious” originator of so-called fake news, and pronouncing that countries across the West have seen the phenomena “distort our discourse, fuel divisions and influence voter decisions”, each example of dangerous disinformation that the lord went on to list took place in third world countries such as Nigeria.”

  12. NZ Debates Free Speech Limits, Long Prison Terms for Downloading Christchurch Manifesto (breitbart, Mar 24, 2019)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2019/03/24/nz-debates-free-speech-limits-jail-downloading-christchurch-manifesto/

“New Zealanders are debating the limits of free speech after their chief censor banned a 74-page manifesto written by the man accused of slaughtering 50 people at two mosques in the city of Christchurch.

The ban, issued Saturday, means anybody caught with the document on their computer could face up to 10 years in prison, while anyone caught sending it could face 14 years. Some say the ban goes too far and risks lending both the document and the gunman mystique.

At the same time, many local media organizations are debating whether to even name the Australian man charged with murder in the March 15 attacks, 28-year-old Brenton Tarrant, after New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern vowed she would never mention him by name.

In some ways, Tarrant’s manifesto provides the greatest insight into his character and thinking, with neighbours and those he met in a gym in the sleepy seaside town of Dunedin recalling nothing particularly remarkable about him.

Chief Censor David Shanks said Tarrant’s manifesto contains justifications for acts of tremendous cruelty like killing children and encourages acts of terrorism, even outlining specific places to target and methods to carry out attacks.

He said that in banning the document, he and his staff worried about drawing more attention to it. But in the end, he said, they decided they needed to treat it the same way as propaganda from groups like the Islamic State, which they have also banned.

Shanks had earlier placed a similar ban on the 17-minute livestream video the killer filmed from a camera mounted on his helmet during the shootings. He said researchers and journalists could apply for exemptions from both bans.

But while free speech advocates haven’t questioned banning the graphic video, they said banning the manifesto is a step too far.

“People are more confident of each other and their leaders when there is no room left for conspiracy theories, when nothing is hidden,” said Stephen Franks, a constitutional lawyer and spokesman for the Free Speech Coalition. “The damage and risks are greater from suppressing these things than they are from trusting people to form their own conclusions and to see evil or madness for what it is.”

Franks said he had no interest in reading the manifesto until it was banned. He now is curious because it is “forbidden fruit,” he said, and he worries others may feel the same way. He said the ban makes no sense when New Zealanders remain free to read Adolf Hitler’s autobiography, “Mein Kampf.”

Ardern told Parliament last week that she wouldn’t give the gunman anything he wanted.

“He sought many things from his act of terror, but one was notoriety,” she said. “And that is why you will never hear me mention his name.”

She said people should instead remember the names of the victims.

Some media organizations appear to be taking up her call. News website Stuff on Saturday published an 1,800-word profile on Tarrant without once naming him.

“Our view at the moment is that we’re dialling back on naming him, unless it’s pertinent or important,” said Mark Stevens, the editorial director at Stuff.

The New Zealand Herald also published a profile on Tarrant with an accompanying editorial that mentions Ardern’s stance. The editorial says, “Our piece keeps the mention of his name to a minimum.”

News organizations fear Tarrant will use his trial as a soapbox to promote his white nationalist views, especially after he fired his lawyer and said he’d represent himself.

But Danish journalist Claus Blok Thomsen, who works for the Politiken newspaper and covered the trial of Norwegian mass murderer Anders Breivik, said there are dangers in censoring Tarrant. He said that during the Breivik trial, many media outlets, including his own, were careful to report only what happened in court without discussing Breivik’s far-right ideology.

He said it was an approach favoured by intellectuals and so-called experts, but when he interviewed the families of the victims, he found many of them were angry.

“They said when we start to censor ourselves, we just make him into a martyr,” Thomsen said. “We are not able to learn how mad this guy was, what his thinking was, until everything is out in the light.”

In his manifesto, Tarrant describes himself as being born into a working-class family and not being interested in university. He says he made some money investing, although in other internet posts he talks about getting an inheritance when his father died.

In Dunedin, about a five-hour drive south of Christchurch, Tarrant lived in a modest pale-green wooden apartment. His neighbours said they’d see him out running sometimes, but that he mostly kept to himself. At the Anytime Fitness gym, those who knew him described him as polite and interested mainly in pumping weights that build upper-body strength.

Tarrant was also a member of the Bruce Rifle Club, which has a shooting range down a dusty forest road that’s used mostly by hunters and loggers, about a 45-minute drive southwest of Dunedin near the rural town of Milton.

Dozens of boxes of bowling pins stacked in teetering towers and a few fluorescent vests are all there is inside a simple hut at the range. The club closed indefinitely last week after it emerged that Tarrant was a member.

But like much of his life in Dunedin, Tarrant was something of a ghost at the club. Polite, low-key, helpful, normal. Club vice president Scott Williams told the Otago Daily Times that Tarrant seemed “as normal as anyone else” and never mentioned anything about his white supremacist beliefs.

“I think we’re feeling a bit stunned and shocked and a bit betrayed, perhaps, that we’ve had this person in our club who has ended up doing these horrible things,” he told the newspaper.

Williams said Tarrant was always helping out around the club, including setting up and packing down the range. He said Tarrant used a hunting rifle and an AR-15, which wasn’t unusual.

One of the few people who has publicly said he had concerns about Tarrant before the attacks is hunting guide Pete Breidahl. He said he complained in 2017 to a local police officer who monitors gun licenses about the disturbing behaviour of some members of the rifle club.

In a Facebook video and comments posted online, Breidahl said some club members had Confederate flags, wore camouflage clothing with rank insignia, vilified Muslims and had homicidal fantasies. He claimed to have met Tarrant, calling him “not right.” Police said they had no record of a complaint but were looking into Breidahl’s claims.

In his manifesto, Tarrant claims he got approval for his attack from Breivik, who killed 77 people in Oslo and a nearby island in 2011. Breivik’s lawyer has said that’s very unlikely because his client has limited contact with the outside world from his prison cell.

Thomsen, the journalist, said the biggest fear he and other reporters had when they were covering Breivik was that he would inspire a copycat killer. Now he’s travelled to Christchurch to learn more about what happened there.

“I think it’s safe to say that this is what we feared,” he said.”

  13. Syria Kurds Urge World to Take Back Captured Islamic State Jihadists (breitbart, mar 24, 2019)
    https://www.breitbart.com/middle-east/2019/03/24/syria-kurds-urge-world-to-take-back-captured-islamic-state-jihadists/

“Thousands of interned Islamic State terrorists and their families pose a risk to the ongoing security of the Middle East and their Syria Kurd captors want the world to take them back.

The White House and the Department of Defense announced Friday that territory controlled by the Islamic State was 100 percent eliminated, prompting the Syria Kurdish administration’s top foreign affairs official Abdel Karim Omar to warn foreign captives still pose a problem that must be defused.

“There are thousands of fighters, children and women and from 54 countries, not including Iraqis and Syrians, who are a serious burden and danger for us and for the international community,” Omar told AFP.

“Numbers increased massively during the last 20 days of the Baghouz operation,” he said, referring to the village by the Euphrates where diehard jihadists made a bloody last stand.

Jihadists and their families gradually gathered in Baghouz as the last rump of the “caliphate” shrank around them and while some have managed to escape, many of the foreigners stayed behind, either surrendering to the U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) or fighting to the death.

According to the SDF, 66,000 people left the last IS pocket since January, including 5,000 jihadists and 24,000 of their relatives, with many predicted to be on their way to Europe, with Hungary already sounding a warning of the possible repercussions…”

  14. Sweden: Islamic Terrorism Still Number One Threat (breitbart, Mar 24, 2019)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2019/03/24/sweden-islamic-terrorism-still-number-one-threat/

“A newly released report from Sweden’s National Center for Terror Threat Assessment (NCT) has warned that despite recent victories over the Islamic State, radical Islamic terror remains the number one threat to Swedish security.

The report, which compiles expertise from the Security Service (Sapo), the Military Intelligence and Security Service, and the Defense Radio Institute, said that the country still remains a legitimate target for supporters of radical Islamic extremism, broadcaster Sveriges Radio reports.

Linda Thörnell, head of NCT, spoke about the report saying that the Islamic State terror group still remains a key source of inspiration for jihadis across Sweden.

“The inspiration has partly gone down, the enthusiasm for Daesh has diminished, but Daesh continues to inspire attacks and it still happens,” Thörnell said.

The NCT also noted that any future attacks are likely to follow the same pattern as recent terror attacks in Europe, a lone wolf with a knife, gun or vehicle committing terror after being inspired by the Islamic State and its propaganda.

Thörnell said it was “too early to say” what effect the losses sustained by the terror group in Iraq and Syria would have in Sweden…”

  15. New Zealand bans possession, distribution of shooting suspect’s manifesto

New Zealand on Saturday announced a ban on the possession and distribution of a manifesto allegedly written by the suspect behind attacks at two mosques last week.

The country’s Office of Film and Literature Classification said the document is objectionable under law.

“There is an important distinction to be made between ‘hate speech,’ which may be rejected by many right-thinking people, but which is legal to express, and this type of publication, which is deliberately constructed to inspire further murder and terrorism,” New Zealand’s Chief Censor David Shanks said in a statement. “It crosses the line.”

Shanks called on the public to delete any copies of the manifesto, as well as report it when it is discovered online.

“New Zealanders can all play a part in denying those who exhort hatred, killing and terror,” Shanks said. “Do not support the murderous objectives of its author by republishing or distributing it.”

The “manifesto” of the 28-year-old Australian man charged with the murder of 50 people included more than 70 pages full of anti-Muslim and anti-immigrant rhetoric.

It was reportedly entitled “The Great Replacement, an apparent reference to a 2012 book by a French author that describes a “theory” that European white majority is being replaced by many Muslim and nonwhite immigrants.

It also allegedly included a line calling President Trump “a symbol of renewed white identity and common purpose.” The White House rejected the suspect’s remarks.

The manifesto was published on social media and CNN reported that it was also sent to the office of New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern shortly before the shooting started.

The manifesto quickly spread across the internet, as well as video of attacks that was live-streamed on Facebook. Authorities earlier this week made it illegal to distribute or possess the video.

A 22-year-old New Zealand man was arrested for distributing the footage.

  16. MSNBC’s Joy Reid floats conspiracy theory that Mueller report the ‘seeds of a cover-up’
By Joe Newby March 24, 2019

Yesterday, LU’s Howard Portnoy gave readers cable news’s reaction on Day One to the bombshell that the Mueller report would recommend no more indictments. By Day Two — Saturday — the sadness and anger had given way to a more contemplative mood as liberal news analysts attempted to explain to their and their viewers’ satisfaction how the probe that was sure to end Donald Trump’s presidency could have gone so terribly wrong.

Deep thinker Bill Maher gave an inkling of this refined train of thought as early as Friday when he wondered aloud whether Democrats had “put too much trust” in Mueller‘s report, adding, “I don’t need the Mueller report to know [Trump’s] a traitor. I have a TV.”

This was followed inevitably by allegations of an out-and-out conspiracy tendered by MSNBC’s Joy Reid, who “reasoned”:

    • Pay close attention to this one, this is what is going to be the line the Propaganda Media and their masters the Dems take.

The Dems were so sure that Hillary was destined to win the election and finish the job Obama started of taking us full communists that they are incapable of accepting that the American People rejected their chosen leader. The refusal to accept reality is leading them deeper and deeper into the Conspiracy Theory Swamp that they (the left) claims belongs to the right.

This journey into their delusions of a President who is a traitor is leading them and their followers to the point where in their minds the only way to save the US is to use violence to seize power and weaponize the Government to seize and punish all who dare oppose them.

The echo chamber they live in (very few of them know anyone who isn’t a raving leftist) makes them believe their own propaganda bout how stupid and cowardly the supporters of the President are.

This is not going to end well for the left and it will take many decades of hard work to repair all of the damage they have done to the Rule of law in the US. This hard work is going to have to start with the people taking control of the schools away from the left and start teaching the skills needed to survive in modern society and the history of what has happened.

  17. U.S. ISLAMIC LEADER PUBLISHES LIST OF ‘ISLAMOPHOBIC’ TERMS

Omeish wrote in the Facebook post that anyone who used the listed terms is “Islamophobic and must stop their hate.”

“Jihadist,” “Islamic violence,” “Islamist extremist” and “radical Islam” are all Islamophobic terms, Esam Omeish wrote on Facebook in the wake of the New Zealand mosque massacre.

Omeish is a board member at the Dar al-Hijrah Islamic Center in Falls Church, Virginia, which has expressed Muslim Brotherhood sympathies. He previously served as president of the Muslim American Society (MAS), which a Chicago Tribune investigation reported was established as the branch of the Muslim Brotherhood in America.

In the Facebook post, Omeish wrote that anyone who used the listed terms is “Islamophobic and must stop their hate.”

Omeish has some history with the listed terms. In 2000, he spoke at a Jerusalem Day Rally in Washington D.C., saying that Palestinians had learned “that the Jihad way is the way to liberate your land,” according to the Investigative Project on Terrorism (IPT). Omeish encouraged the crowd to take action that would “make this administration change its mind about its unconditional support for the Zionist entity in Filastin.”

Omeish also mourned Hamas founder Sheikh Ahmed Yassin at a MAS conference in 2004, after Yassin was killed in an Israeli airstrike, referring to Yassin as “our beloved brother,” the IPT reported.

  20. Australia: Maori community perform haka for Christchurch

Sydney’s Maori community performed a haka for victims of the Christchurch mosque shootings on Sunday.

The group performed two ceremonial dances popularised by the New Zealand rugby team the All Blacks, namely Ka Mate and Kapa o Pango.

Event organiser Josh Simon, a New Zealand-born Sydney resident himself, said “a haka is our way of showing grief and love.”

“A haka was used in war but then again it can also be used as our way of showing love and respect to those whose lives we lost back in Christchurch,” he added.

Schoolchildren in Christchurch performed several hakas in the wake of the Christchurch mosque shootings.

      Berlin will Moscheen besser schützen

There are plenty of controversial topics to discuss regarding transgender issues, but among the two most controversial are puberty blockers for young children with gender dysphoria and the efficacy of gender transitioning story.

In the story of a young child named James and an activist named Walt Heyer, the two issues converge — or intersect, as some might say — in a dramatic manner.

His father, a small-time farmer, was planning to send his only son to a boarding school in nearby Manasbal, a scenic tourist spot in north Kashmir. But in the conflict-ridden Valley where many dreams have shattered, Aatif’s became another heart-wrenching tale.

The 12-year-old boy was taken hostage by militants who were holed up in his house in Hajin town, a first such incident in more than a decade. Aatif’s mother requested the two militants to free her son, but they didn’t allow the young boy to walk out of the house that was the target of security forces.

  24. Cambridge University Rescinds my Fellowship
From @CamDivinity, this morning (Wed, Mar 20, 2019): “Jordan Peterson requested a visiting fellowship at the Faculty of Divinity, and an initial offer has been rescinded after a further review.”

I visited Cambridge University in November of last year, during my 12 Rules for Life Book tour, one stop of which was the city of Cambridge, where I spoke publicly at the venerable Cambridge Corn Exchange. While there, I had lunch and dinner and various scheduled conversations with a good number of faculty members and other interested individuals who came in for the occasion, and we took the opportunity to speak with a welcome frankness about theological, philosophical and psychological matters. I also recorded twoYouTube videos/podcasts: one with the eminent philosopher Sir Roger Scruton, presented by The Cambridge Center for the Study of Platonism, and another with Dr. Stephen Blackwood, founding President of Ralston College, a university in Savannah, Georgia, preparing for launch.

I was also invited to address the student-run Cambridge Union, the oldest continuously running debating society in the world – a talk which was delivered to a packed house (a relatively rare occurrence) and which, despite being posted only four months ago, is now the second-most watched of their 200 total videos. I’m mentioning this for a very particular purpose: CUSU, the Cambridge University Student Union (not to be confused with the aforementioned Cambridge Union), pinned to their Twitter account the rescindment announcement three minutes before (!) the Faculty of Divinity did so, and in a spirit of apparent “relief.” The Guardian cited the following CUSU statement:

We are relieved to hear that Jordan Peterson’s request for a visiting fellowship to Cambridge’s faculty of divinity has been rescinded following further review. It is a political act to associate the University with an academic’s work through offers which legitimise figures such as Peterson. His work and views are not representative of the student body and as such we do not see his visit as a valuable contribution to the University, but one that works in opposition to the principles of the University.

It seems to me that the packed Cambridge Union auditorium, the intelligent questioning associated with the lecture, and the overwhelming number of views the subsequently posted video accrued, indicates that there a number of Cambridge students are very interested in what I have to say, and might well regard my visit “as a valuable contribution to the University.” I also have to say, as a university professor concerned with literacy, that the CUSU statement offered to The Guardian borders on the unintelligible, perhaps even crossing the line (as so much ideological-puppet-babble tends to): what in the world does it mean that “it is a political act to associate the University with an academic’s work through offers which legitimise figures such as Peterson”? And who could write or say something of that rhetorical nature without a deep sense of betraying their personal conscience?

In any case: In November, when I was in Cambridge, I began discussions with one of the faculty members (whom I had met briefly before, in London) about the possibility of entering into a collaboration with the Cambridge Divinity Faculty. I enjoyed the conversations I had at Cambridge immensely. I learned a lot about Biblical matters that had remained unknown to me in a very short time. This was of particular relevance to me, but also perhaps of more broad and public import, because of a series of lectures on the Biblical stories of Genesis I prepared, delivered live (at the Isabel Bader Theatre in Toronto) and then posted on YouTube (playlist here) and in podcast form.

Wednesday on Fox News Channel’s “The Ingraham Angle,” Breitbart News senior editor-at-large Peter Schweizer, author of “Secret Empires: How the American Political Class Hides Corruption and Enriches Family and Friends,” discussed questionable dealings involving Hunter Biden, son of former Vice President Joe Biden, and foreign money.

Schweizer told host Laura Ingraham it is “crystal clear” that China was “buying off” Joe Biden, a potential 2020 presidential candidate, through his son.

“In December of 2013, Hunter Biden flies on Air Force 2 to Beijing, China, with his father. His father meets with Chinese officials, he’s very soft on Beijing. The most important thing that happens happens 10 days after they return. And that’s when Hunter Biden’s small, private equity firm called Rosemont Seneca Partners gets a $1 billion private equity deal with the Chinese government, not with the Chinese corporation, with the government. And what people need to realize is Hunter Biden has no background in China, he has no background in private equity, the deal he got in the Shanghai free-trade zone, nobody else had. Goldman Sachs, Bank of America, Blackstone, nobody had this deal.”

Police said on Sunday morning that initial concerns were “to do with a tattoo” however they said the concern “was a mistake”.

It has been reported the tattoo was thought to be linked to far-right ideology, however, it turned out it was traditional.

Around 5000 concertgoers were evacuated from the main stage at the Homegrown Festival in Wellington around 9.20pm.

Homegrown spokeswoman Kelly Wright said the incident was “an innocent misunderstanding”.

“Some of the Homegrown crew identified a person that they were concerned about and police made the call that person needed to be found,” she said.

“It all happened at the change-over of the music so people were moving around and police couldn’t spot the person immediately so they made the call to evacuate the stage.

“The person was found and it turned out that is was a completely innocent misunderstanding and everyone was allowed to return.”

Protest crowd in L.A. highlights Ilhan Omar’s secretive fundraising for terror-linked groups
    By J.E. Dyer March 24, 2019

First of all, keep in mind that Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) sits on the Foreign Affairs Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives.

That’s one of the most important things we cannot ignore when reviewing Omar’s activities and statements. She may be a freshman member of the committee, but her seat on it gives her an outsize influence on the deliberation of U.S. foreign and security policy in the House. It also potentially gives her access to classified information about U.S. policy and intelligence that may not be readily available to all members.

Certainly it means she now comes to issues in the Middle East, including terrorism, terror-sponsoring countries, and the interests of U.S. allies and partners, from a privileged position.

So it continues to be of grave concern that Omar, who has a history of repeated anti-Semitic comments, is appearing at fundraisers for terror-linked groups – including two this weekend hosted by CAIR (the Council on American-Islamic Relations) in Los Angeles – from which the media are frequently excluded.

  32. Special UK armed soldiers in ‘nuclear-proof bunker’ have been ‘activated’ to prepare for Brexit

A team of highly-trained British military personnel, located in no less than a “nuclear-proof bunker” under the UK Ministry of Defence, have been “activated” to prepare for a doomsday no-deal Brexit scenario, RT.com writes.

Who said leaving the EU would be easy? Operation Redfold, as it has been dubbed, will see 3,500 military personnel put on standby as Her Majesty’s Government prepares to enter “very high readiness mode” for the dreaded no-deal scenario, Sky News has revealed.

The bunker, called “Pindar” is located deep under the Defence Ministry and is used only at a time of war or outright national emergency. Enter Brexit.

With the March 29 exit date fast approaching and no deal yet on the horizon, control of Brexit-related planning will shift next week from the Cabinet Office to the government’s “Cobra” emergency committee. This will involve near 24-hour manning of departments most at risk from Brexit-related disruptions, such as the health, transport and defence portfolios.
