It started near the main door entrance. The fire department reacted quickly. The church is full of soot because of the smoke.
Quite a few are thinking it’s arson because of where it started. It sure looks that way.
This church is the second most important church after Notre-Dame-de-Paris.
UPDATE: Arson confirmed. Investigators say it was deliberately set by an individual, possibly mentally ill.
ALSO: An individual witnessed a few days earlier someone throwing a fire-lit rag soaked in a flammable liquid against one of the church’s walls, not far from the entrance. The fire was quickly put out.
