It was Hindus who were forcibly coerced to convert to Islam. All of the South Asian population was forecfully converted. However, you cannot force someone to follow a faith. Iran for example is waking up to the fact that Islam was forced on them and most of them are leaving Islam. Islam has grown only by violent coercion and demographic expansion. However currently it is not possible for Islam to grow in the same way. This is why we see dispersed Islamic elements involved in separate acts of violence.
