Germany and Jordan in Dispute over Immunity for Soldiers
Before the German Armed Forces move to Jordan, the German government intends to achieve their immunity before law. Otherwise, they would be under sharia law.

German Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen in Jordan

It remains unclear yet if German soldiers in Jordan will be protected from Sharia law. The Federal government had made this demand in the negotiations concerning the stationing of German soldiers in Jordan. But according to Der Spiegel information, Jordan has not yet granted such immunity.
About 250 German Armed Forces soldiers are to be stationed in Jordan from Septeber on, to fly reconnaissance flights against the terror Militia“Islamic State” from there. The Federal government wants them to be protected from criminal prosecution in Jordan, as it partially still is under the Koran-inspired sharia law which also sees death penalty. The jurisdiction of the Sharia courts is limited to certain aspects like family law though.
After withdrawal from Turkish Incirlik, the soldiers are to be stationed on the Jordan base Muwaffak Salti near Al-Asrak. The moving was a decision of the Federal government early June. The reason for this decision was the conflict with the Turkish government regarding visit rights of German representatives at the German Armed Forces soldiers.
“We are still nogotiating the stationing arrangement”, the defense ministry in Berlin comments. They were not expecting a delay of the moving of the “Tornado”recconnaissance jets which is scheduled for October. [“Tornado” is the name of a type of German military jet – translator]
Last year, there had been similar discussions with Qatar. There, a compromise was achieved, according to which soldiers were flown out to Germany, instead of being held responsible before a Qatari court. In Jordan, such compromise seemed unlikely due to the size of the mission, Der Spiegel quotes Federal Armed sources.

    • Of course not!
And now they better watch their backs more than ever. We lost 4 (some say 6) American soldiers recently to brazen attacks. Not ISIS.

Jordan is a tinderbox. Particularly notable after the recent Temple Mount riots.

The Muslim Brotherhood – what the EU calls “moderate political Islam” instigated the shootings of the Israeli Druze policemen at the Temple Mount that triggered the initial events. The shooters were from the Northern Branch of the Islamic Movement, the Palestinian franchise of the MB.

The riots protesting subsequent Israeli security measures were driven by “political” MB operatives within Jordan and Turkey. They were financed mainly by Qatar, and broadcast for world consumption by Al Jazeera, the voice of Arab-Spring-1.

The objective was to set off a major conflagration that would blow up into Arab-Spring-2. That was abundantly clear at the time: That’s why Bibi quickly folded to absurd demands by an apparently spontaneous mob. Details are now emerging.

Technically, the mess that is the ‘government of Jordan’ controls everything that goes on in that mosque. But the dwarf kinglet is only one faction. His authority is entirely dependent on the physical presence of Western military. His Intelligence Service is run by the CIA and Israel.

[Bear in mind that the CIA has been entirely infiltrated by the Muslim Brotherhood, the interests of our nominal allies subordinated to it. The MB is legal and powerful in Jordan. German troops are fleeing the wrath of the MB President of Turkey. What are the implications for the security of the Germans to be stationed in Jordan?]

      More background.

The Brits called everybody in that slab of Mandate Palestinian, a designation that’s more confusing than not. It describes a network of Arab tribes of mainly agricultural and urban descent, under the nominal control of the Ottoman Empire until its defeat after WW I.

But they’re NOT Turks – they never forget it!

The Hashemites are not native to the region; the “king” is a Beduin chieftain from the Arabian Peninsula ruling a colonial artifact. The above described Palestinian tribes despise the traditionally nomadic Beduin, while the latter feel superior because they’re related to the Pirate Mohammad.

After the first ‘King’ Abdullah was assassinated, his father allied with the West. King Hussein had a deft touch. He married an American movie star and got good press where it counted.

He was working quietly with the Israeli government even during the Six-Day War. His massacres of Palestinians got little coverage, while his peace treaty with Israel was met with applause in the West. At home it was different.

The current mongrel specimen, another ‘King’ Abdullah, is acutely aware of how profoundly he’s hated by his majority Palestinian population. He retains exclusively Circassian bodyguards and spends most of the year in Europe, where he was educated. Whenever he’s in country, planes are on standby 24/7 for quick evacuation.

  1. This American government document advises volunteers in Jordan’s rural areas to conceal their religious and sexual identities to ensure safety for themselves and their friends. It was once accessible from the peacecorps.gov website. PC ceased sending volunteers in 2015.

(The Jordan book mentions secrecy and safety for more pages than does the Morocco welcome book.)

      • Nothing short of a crime to send innocents to such places.

While that is very compassionate of you to say, for anyone traveling overseas (much less to the Middle East hot-spots) it is mandatory to borrow or buy a recent traveler’s guide and read up on your destination. I did it for Taiwan, Armenia, Germany, and the Philippines. Every time, I was able to “land on my feet” and had a much stronger grasp of local customs and social mores.

Anybody who blindly rushes in to a foreign country without learning the “lay of the land” is a pigeon just waiting to be plucked.

        • Are postmodernist-polluted college graduates capable of absorbing what they read about the real world? Say, idealistic Peace Corps volunteers?

Read the security cautions in Malca’s link to the manual for Jordan. Are the indoctrinated, multi-culti, interfaith graduates of the Frankfort School safe anywhere outside the playpen?

            No they aren’t.

            • I tend to agree. All of which doesn’t bode very well for the survival of a few recent generations.
