***CORRECTION***

From a comment on this post:

However, from the New Jersey state statement the Antifa was just described as terrorist group , nothing was clearly done about it.
So the title is misleading

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Americans for having created the most free and successful state in the history of the world. A state that should be an example to us all. On this day, the people of the world should look towards the United States of America with both pride and the kind of envy that motivates us to all work towards building our own versions of this state.

Dear Americans, a happy and prideful Independence Day to you all.

1, State of New Jersey passes law concerning activities of self titled: anTIfa

From June 12th of this year:

Anti-fascist groups, or “Antifa,” are a subset of the anarchist movement and focus on issues involving racism, sexism, and anti-Semitism, as well as other perceived injustices.

  • Self-described Antifa groups have been established across the United States and in several major cities, including New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, and San Francisco. A majority of New Jersey-based anarchist groups are affiliated with the Antifa movement and are opposed to “fascism,” racism, and law enforcement. Antifa groups coordinate regionally and have participated in protests in New York City and Philadelphia. There are three loosely organized chapters in New Jersey, known as the North Jersey Antifa, the South Jersey Antifa, and the HubCity Antifa New Brunswick (Middlesex County).
  • In December 2016, a group known as the Antifascist Action-Nebraska engaged in a doxing campaign against a prominent member of American Vanguard, a white supremacist organization. The group published his personal information on several social media platforms and posted fliers on the University of Nebraska Omaha campus, calling for his expulsion.
  • On March 28, a small fight occurred between Antifa members and supporters of the US President during a rally in Seaside Heights (Ocean County).  Because of advance publicity about the event on social media, local and state law enforcement officers were able to keep altercations to a minimum.

ANTIFA: INCITING VIOLENCE TOWARD FAR-RIGHT EXTREMISTS

Violent confrontations between Antifa members and white supremacists—as well as militia groups—will likely continue because of ideological differences and Antifa’s ability to organize on social media. In the past year, Antifa groups have become active across the United States, employing a variety of methods to disrupt demonstrations.

2. Omar Khadr to receive apology and $10.5M compensation package from Canada: official.

The Canadian government is going to apologize and give millions to a former Guantanamo Bay prisoner who pleaded guilty to killing a U.S. soldier in Afghanistan when he was 15, with Canada’s Supreme Court later ruling that officials had interrogated him under “oppressive circumstances.”

An official familiar with the deal said Tuesday that Omar Khadr will receive $10.5 million. The official was not authorized to discuss the deal publicly before the announcement and spoke on condition of anonymity. The government and Khadr’s lawyers negotiated the deal last month.

3. Not 100% sure what this title means, but it seems important as Turkey is involved, and like the French in WW2, no one is sure exactly who’s side they are on.

4. Austria moves 4 armoured trucks to its border with Italy to guard against inbound migrants

The planned controls will include the busy Alpine Brenner pass, a defence ministry spokesman said – a move that Italy warned last year would break EU rules on free movement.

Defence Minister Peter Doskozil told daily newspaper Kronenzeitung: “I expect border controls will be introduced very soon.”

Both Italy and Austria are members of the European Union’s Schengen open-border zone, but free movement has been jeopardised by the reimposition of controls at many crossings across the bloc since the surge in migrants seen in 2015/16.

5. German intel chief: More terror attacks likely in Germany

The head of Germany’s domestic intelligence agency is warning that more terror attacks by Islamic extremists in Germany are likely.

Hans-Georg Maassen said Tuesday that “further attacks by single persons or terror commando groups must be expected.” He and German Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere were presenting the annual report by Germany’s domestic intelligence agency.

Dear readers. I have been messing up with the Daily Reader’s Links the past few days because of a high pressure schedule, not the least of which is a multi-day training schedule teaching one of our own how to edit videos and post them. We need lots of people doing that. I would be interested in teaching someone else how to do subtitles if they are willing to learn. Please leave a comment and Ill get in touch and see if something can be worked out.
