After watching that Danish news video with the brief statement of the Prime Minister of Denmark, I had to ask myself some very cynical questions.

    “Four smugglers brandishing Kalashnikovs threatened an Italian Coast Guard motorboat involved in one of several operations that rescued more than 2,000 migrants leaving Libyan shores on Sunday. Italian Transport Minister Maurizio Lupi said the gunmen used a small boat to speed to the scene some 50 miles (80 kilometers) off the coast of Libya, where security is rapidly deteriorating.

    After threatening the rescuers who had taken aboard the migrants, three of the smugglers jumped onto the then-empty migrants’ boat and took off with it. Nearly 2,200 migrants were rescued in several operations Sunday, the Coast Guard said. They were being taken to Italian ports. Hundreds were also rescued Saturday.

    Italian Premier Matteo Renzi is pressing for U.N. intervention to stem the violence in Libya. On Sunday, Italy repatriated by sea its personnel from its Tripoli embassy and advised other Italians, many of whom work in oil or construction businesses, to leave Libya. Last week, gunmen from an al-Qaida inspired militia took over broadcast stations in the city of Sirte, according to a security official in Libya.

    Italian authorities fear that terrorists might slip into Italy on Libya-based smugglers boats crowded with refugees and migrants from Syria, Africa and elsewhere.”

    Though his presence alerted the others, no doubt saving many lives, without a gun he was a sitting duck. I’m certain members of the community have trained (and served) in the IDF. How could they have been so stupid? Did anyone try to get permits for them?

      On the subject of Hungary, my own Hungarian colleagues believe that Jews are the real threat to Hungary, not Muslims. Nothing they see in the news seems to change that. Makes it difficult to talk to them.

        ‘Remember that you guys were once Other. Never forget it. Fight when you must, but don’t dehumanize the Enemy.’

        This is why I get nervous when I read or hear or find myself describing the enemy as “vermin” or a “cancer”. However satisfying a video about roach-killer may be, I get nervous.

        That was how the Nazis dehumanized me. I identify with that time and those people in my bones. It’s an absolute, hardwired identification.

        Nazis didn’t rape Jewish women on anything like the IS-Yazidi scale. There were laws against it, of course, but it was more than that.

        Doesn’t mean I don’t want my enemy dead, I do. I just won’t brainwash myself first. It isn’t necessary because self-defense is instinctive. You come to terms with the fact that you’re taking a human life.

        Maybe that’s what keeps you human.

        • No, I don’t care for the Muslims-are-cockroaches sort of metaphor even if I toss one around now and then myself. Homo sum: humani nil a me alienum puto, as the man said. Humans dehumanize themselves, we just need to recognize that they’re doing it and respond appropriately (which in the case of IS jihadis means killing them).

          And it’s not useful in fighting Islam conceptually. Calling Muslims cockroaches underestimates and mischaracterizes the threat. Cockroaches don’t have ideology. They don’t make their way into positions of influence in our institutions, they don’t use our political and legal systems against us. They don’t campaign for anti-blasphemy laws or take control of the UN. And they don’t cut off heads or burn prisoners alive to instill terror: cockroach cruelty is incidental, not instrumental. We need all our intelligence and imagination and humanity to understand the enemy and work out an effective defense.

        • It is the people who are easily offended we have to worry about. They fly into rages. Jesus taught how not to be offended, to offer (not mechanically turn) the other cheek to release all your spoils of vanity so you do not end up in a pissing contest with them. Then you are free to act according to what is rational and loving.
          Ideologies are irrational and selfish, giving the illusion of a fixed destiny and salvation. These are the mind prisons of intimidation and fear. Islam and Socialism eroding humanity into sexual beast running from the fear of nothing to create a fantasy without that causes a raging emptiness within, that means protection the sham at all costs. Hence Honor Killing, killing kufar, killing souls.

        • The Church stands in opposition to the earliest Greek writers of Jesus, who proposed him as the Jewish Messiah to inculcate philosophical thought into the minds of Muslims of the time. They have been arguing ever since.
          If you make Jesus into A God pronouncing these same words, His Spirit made into flesh, then giving your jacket to the poor and letting Islam raise its flag everywhere without resistance does become the only option of literal interpretation…. if you are still going to allow the ordained tithe-receivers to continue to peddle a much better Afterlife where your unresolved and repressed emotions will be forgiven.         • The multi-pronged, multi-directional attack on Christianity to clear the arena for multi-faith multi-culturalism has been such a resounding success.           In Penang last year I watched Chinese lining up at a Hindu shrine to get their coconuts smashed and the ones still on their shoulders daubed with paste. I wondered at the time if it was some sort of scapegoating ritual, but looking around now I read that the Hindu notion is the release of one’s ego, while non-Hindus are said to be ‘fulfilling their vows.’ In any event it seemed a happy example of community cross-fertilization, a good time had by all. I didn’t notice any Muslims in the queue, in Muslim Malaysia. Maybe it was just that particular evening.

        • Right, it’s for the battlefield. But I don’t think it helps to be teaching our children to think of the Muslim children they are in school with as subhuman Islamonazi cockroaches. Mark Levin for example keeps it clear that he is reserving that label for IS. It’s catastrophic that our children are in school with Muslim children, especially with everything warped and twisted by political correctness, but we have to be more imaginative helping them cope.

      • I would love to see Europe; particularly Eastern Europe and the UK and France and Spain up to their eyebrows in Muslims one day. That is the only way that the Europeans will see what their politicians and media and central banksters have done to their countries.
