1. Israeli air strikes hit Syrian military targets

The Israeli military has carried out air strikes on targets inside Syria, including a military headquarters, in response to a cross-border attack that left an Israeli teenager dead.

In all, Israel said it struck nine military targets inside Syria, and “direct hits were confirmed.”

The targets were located near the site of Sunday’s violence in the Golan Heights and included a regional military command centre and unspecified “launching positions.” There was no immediate response from Syria.

2. Isis captures more Iraqi towns and border crossings

Jihadist fighters in Iraq seized three border crossings into Syria and Jordan and four nearby towns over the weekend, giving the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (Isis) control over much of the country’s western frontier and directly threatening the country’s main power supply.

Isis can now add large swaths of the Iraqi border to a 300km stretch of land it already controls along the Euphrates river, from Mosul in the north to Saddam Hussein’s home town, Tikrit, which now gives the group a launching pad for potential attacks on strategic sites, including the lifeblood of Iraq’s electricity generation, the Haditha dam. The gains also bring the crisis in Iraq to the doorstep of Jordan, a key ally of the United States.

3. A story written in the dialectic (reminiscent of the style of the highly enjoyable little book, God’s Debris, by Scott Adams of Dilbert) a short story about how a time traveler from the future might see the war with Islam today. It was written in 2006 so its a good time to see how on he was.

4. Nazi theme cafe reopens to thunderous indifference (Except for a misguided few)

(As usual, the world busies itself fighting absurd and danger-free symbols of past aggressors while just as likely aiding and assisting today’s genocidal ideologies with multi faith programs and demands to silence all who speak truthfully of Islam. Frankly, one would imagine if one were Jewish, treating Hitler and his Nazis as curios to decorate a fairly gay looking cafe would be the perfect victory dance. Treating him like the god of evil seems to me to be at least partially responsible for the fascination so many, especially kids, have with Hitler and the Nazis. Its so…. goth!)

5. UK: Man subjected to vicious sex attack in woods near Milnsbridge by gang 

The suspects are described as three Asian men, all aged around 20-25 years old. The first suspect was 6ft tall with a heavy, muscular build. He was clean shaven, with short black hair and wore a white T-shirt, blue chinos and possibly Nike trainers.

6. India: Defiant bikers as horse riders of jihadi Islam

(I believe this is a thing in Australia as well)

In June 2013 the denizens of Delhi, especially the motorists and pedestrians on Delhi roads had to wade through a harrowing experience of lawlessness throughout the night of the Muslim festival of Shab-e-Barat . Th unsuspecting motorists and commuters were caught in a frightful melee caused by thousands of skullcap wearing jihadi motorcyclists. Many of them were gesticulating at motorists, especially to frighten the lone women car drivers, while performing stunts on the roads of New Delhi. Their shameful antics and rowdy behaviour was roundly criticized by the media which faulted the police for the monumental breakdown of public order on the fateful night.

  2. Kenya ‘bombs al-Shabab bases’ in Somalia

    Kenyan fighter jets have bombed the al-Qaeda-linked al-Shabab group in Somalia, killing more than 80 of its fighters, the African Union (AU) force in Somalia has said.

    The assault on the villages of Anole and Kuday was part of an effort to “liberate” Somalia from al-Shabab’s grip, the AU added.

    Witnesses said a third area along the Kenya-Somalia border was also bombed.

    Kenyan warplanes bombed al-Shabab bases in the villages of Anole and Kuday in Somalia’s Lower Juba region, the AU force in Somalia said in a statement.

    More than 50 insurgents were killed in Kuday and 30 in Anole as part of an on-going offensive to defeat al-Shabab, which had already lost control of 10 key towns, the statement said.

  3. UK – SCOTLAND – GLASGOW – City Mosque will broadcast call to prayer every day throughout Commonwealth Games

    THE Islamic call to prayer will be recited daily through loudspeakers at ­Scotland’s ­largest mosque during the Commonwealth Games. Representatives from ­Glasgow Central Mosque have been given the go-ahead by ­Glasgow City Council to broadcast the two-minute call – known as the adhan – every evening, with the Games coinciding with ramadan, the Islamic month of fasting.

    Officials from the council’s ­environmental health department visited Scotland’s largest mosque last week to oversee a practice run, and ensure the prayer call does not exceed an agreed sound level.

    The adhan will be broadcast once a day from July 10 to August 4 at approximately 10pm. Ramadan will begin on June 29, with its final days coinciding with the first week of the Games, which begin on July 23.

  4. Iran arrests two over World Cup video

    Iran’s official IRNA news agency says police have arrested two people who appeared in an online video of young people singing and dancing in support of the country’s World Cup football team.

    Police chief Col. Rahmatollah Taheri is quoted as saying the video clip, produced by the London-based Ajam Band, features scenes from outside and inside Iran, including the city of Shahroud, where the two were arrested.

    The video shows young people, including women not wearing the mandatory headscarf, singing and dancing in support of Iran’s national team.

    Taheri called the video “vulgar” and urged the youth not to take part in such activities.

    In May police arrested six young Iranian men and women for dancing to Pharrell Williams’ song “Happy” in an online video, but released them days later.

  5. US urges Egypt to pardon jailed Al-Jazeera journalists

    The White House on Monday called on Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to pardon three Al-Jazeera journalists sentenced to long jail terms or to commute their sentences.

    “We call on the Egyptian government to pardon these individuals or commute their sentences so that they can be released immediately and (to) grant clemency for all politically motivated sentences,” said White House spokesman Josh Earnest.

    The White House called for clemency after Secretary of State John Kerry — a day after visiting Cairo — called the verdicts handed down against the journalists as “chilling and draconian.”

    An Egyptian court earlier sentenced the three Al-Jazeera journalists to jail terms ranging from seven to 10 years, accusing them of aiding the blacklisted Muslim Brotherhood.

    Australian Peter Greste and Egyptian-Canadian Mohamed Fadel Fahmy each got seven years, while Egyptian producer Baher Mohamed received two sentences — one for seven years and another for three.

    “The prosecution of journalists for reporting information that does not coincide with the government of Egypt’s narrative flouts the most basic standards of media freedom and represents a blow to democratic progress in Egypt,” Earnest said.

    “Perhaps most disturbing, is (that) this verdict comes as part of the succession of prosecutions and verdicts that are fundamentally incompatible with the basic precepts of human rights and democratic governance.

    “We strongly urge President al-Sisi, in the spirit of his pledge to review all human rights legislation, to provide the protections for free expression and assembly as well as the fair trial safeguards that are required by Egypt’s international obligations.”

  7. How much you wanna bet the mosque call to prayer in Glasgow becomes annual and then weekly. Glasgow city council is full of leftards who have no grasp of history or the human condition. As the article on the time traveller states- fear, self interest and honour drive men. Fear will come of this.

    Self interest is that of those for it and those against and honour will come from the muslims who defend the honour of Islam.

    My generation and generations below don’t know the meaning of honour anymore. It thinks it is an outdated dirty word that denotes imperialism, conquest , pride and obediance. Islam has has all of those.
