Do “they” have some links? Labeling that relationship as heavy entanglement would be more fitting. Otherwise very good vid. Learned some new things…
He points to what he calls ‘a certain amount of extremism’ coming into Canada when the real problem for the future is the large number of Muslims coming into the country. It is Islam itself, not any particular development within it like the MB, that represents the long term ‘existential and systemic threat.’
If every member of the MB worldwide was somehow cut down tomorrow, the field cleared, it would just be a matter of time, probably not much time at this juncture, before similar groups grew up to replace it. The roots of the trouble are in Islam itself, and Islam has deep roots.
But this is much better than that other presentation from this fellow posted here, probably because of its narrower focus.
Excellent post Vlad……thank you.

Spanish Security Forces Swoop in Melilla
Spanish security forces Friday arrested six suspected jihadists, including a veteran of the conflict in Mali, in a series of predawn raids in the north African enclave of Melilla designed to break up a recruitment cell there.
This is the latest of a series of similar police operations in Melilla–a Spanish territory with a population of about 80,000, half of them Muslims of Moroccan ancestry–and the nearby Spanish exclave of Ceuta.
“He points to what he calls ‘a certain amount of extremism’ coming into Canada when the real problem for the future is the large number of Muslims coming into the country.”
Upon reading Don C’s statement, the quote from Kevin Costner’s (Field of Dreams) “build it and they will come” came to mind. . . in relation to the alarming increase in requests/permits for new mosques (Islamic ‘bridge building’ Community Centers [/s]) which cannot be supported by current demographics and finances of existing muslim community, the very large and very ambitious expansions of these masjids and CC’s throughout North America and Europe to accomodate the organized invasion of future sharia enforcers.
At the risk of sounding ungrateful to Mr. Quiggin and his efforts to expose the MB in Canada:
That questionable talk on Vimeo called ‘Terrorism Basics: Fear and Knowledge’ was given at the Euphrates Summit 2011 at Principia College.
Principia College offers ‘a top-notch liberal arts education in a community where practicing Christian Science is the way of life.’
(That would be the Christian Scientist that ‘subscribes to a radical form of philosophical idealism, believing that reality is purely spiritual and the material world an illusion.’ –Wikipedia)
Euphrates Institute (“Prepare for Peace”) at partnering Principia ‘seeks a collective shift among 20 percent of Americans to align their foreign policy attitudes and actions with their personal–starting where it needs it the most–the Middle East.’
It was founded by a woman named Janessa Gans Wilders who resigned from the CIA ‘to start a grassroots movement to allay fear and restore trust between the West and Middle East in the aftermath of 9/11.’
Their signature program is called “Warriors for Peace.”
‘Warriors for Peace® is built on a community of young thought leaders who are focused on peace and sustainability. By coming together as a force for good, these individuals will help usher in the end of the “clash of civilizations” between the West and the Middle East.’
Before his 2011 presentation, Mr. Quiggin gave a talk at Principia called ‘Terrorism: From Fear to Knowledge and Solutions’ which Janessa (she goes by her first name on the website) said was “the best talk on terrorism I’ve ever heard.”
‘Tom debunked many myths on terrorism, i.e. “No, suicide bombing is NOT sanctioned by Islam.” And “Guess what? Major terrorists largely come from good backgrounds: educated, middle class, non-religious (or religious in name only) families.” He also gave an over view of al Qa’ida’s decline over the past few years…’
A look over the team at Euphrates Institute suggests that Clare Lopez is not going to be asked to speak there any time soon (nor Robert Spencer, David Wood, Bill Warner, etc):
With his long experience in intelligence, I’m guessing Tom Quiggin is not as ill-informed as he seems, but knows which side his bread is buttered on. He is also noted as an expert by the Ontario Superior Court and the Federal Court in areas ‘related to the structure and organization of the global jihadist movement,’ and has a gig with the Bank of Canada. Flicking the beads on his own abacus, he must have concluded there are sound reasons to be PC about Islam.
With Tom Quiggin at the 2011 Euphrates Summit were tireless interfaith outreacher Rev. Charles Gibbs (author of “Opening the Dream: Beyond the Limits of Otherness”), James Zogby (‘Has referred to Israelis as “Nazis,” and calls Israel’s actions against the PLO “a Holocaust”’– Discover the Networks) and Turkish-American world religions professor Gulten Ilhan (‘discusses the media bias and discrimination suffered by Muslims in 21st century America in her presentation “Othering Muslims.”’)
The institute gave its first “Visionary of the Year” award in 2011 to Sami Awad, who came to Daniel Greenfield’s attention earlier this year:
Don, Your comments really help put this in context. Terrible context.
What’s the common denominator? Who’s been greasing the skids all along? How high does it reach? A quick dip into conspiracy theories – briefly, not my thing – takes me to George Soros.
“Discover the Networks” opens a window on an ugly view. I put “George Soros” into “Search for People” and looked at the people around him. Plus some groups under his “Open Society Institute” wing.
discoverthenetworks is a very good tool for understanding how intertwined all of the leftist groups are, they deliberately set things up to confuse people and to make it easy for them to label critics as being conspiracy nuts. The problem is that leftwing conspiracies co exist and are doing great damage to civilization.
yucki,
While I was poking a stick at that Euphrates Institute, George Soros was a name I kept expecting to see pop out. On the link you sent, I see that James Zogby’s Arab American Institute gets funds from the Open Society Institute.
but I don’t think it would be surprising to find that OSI money found its way to the Euphrates people one way or another, they are clearly well-aligned with the agenda.
It seems to me that Euphrates should be popular with Washington the way Amideast is, another ‘bridge-building’ outfit, or the propaganda arm of Aramco with its wretched magazine Saudi Aramco World.
If you want some of those leftist Principia Summit dollars (or to be asked back to give expert testimony at the Ontario Superior Court) plainly it doesn’t do to say that the problem with Islamic terrorism is Islam.

There has been a significant rise in the numbers of migrants reaching Europe in recent months, the BBC has learned. The number of people attempting the dangerous sea crossing from North Africa to Italy has risen sharply, says Frontex, the EU border agency.
From January to April, 42,000 migrants were detected on these routes, with 25,650 of these crossing from Libya. Combined with seven other less busy routes, the total figure for this year is probably now about 60,000.
On Wednesday, the Italian government said the number of refugees and other migrants reaching its shores had soared to more than 39,000. The total for 2014 so far is more than the equivalent period in 2011, the year of the Arab Spring, which eventually saw 140,000 make clandestine crossings into Europe.
“If the current trends continue, and with the summer months approaching, there is a strong likelihood the numbers will increase further,” says Gil Arias Fernandez, Frontex’s Deputy Executive Director.
At least a third of the latest arrivals are Syrians, fleeing that country’s civil war. But other significant numbers are coming from Afghanistan and Eritrea….”

“A high-ranking traditional leader has been killed in northern Nigeria after his convoy came under attack by suspected Boko Haram militants. Gunmen shot dead the Emir of Gwoza, Shehu Mustapha Idris Timta, in his car.
Boko Haram has waged an increasingly bloody insurgency since 2009 to create an Islamic state in Nigeria. Nigeria’s President Goodluck Jonathan vowed to wage “total war” against the group, which has been held more than 200 girls captive since last month.
“They shot the emir of Gwoza. He died on the spot,” Wali Ibrahim, an aide to the emir, told the BBC Hausa service….”
