Belgium: Three dead in what is being called an “antisemitic terrorist act”

RT NEWS:

Three people were killed in a shooting near the Jewish Museum in Brussels, which the Belgian authorities believe may be “an anti-Semitic terrorist act.”

Two women and a man died on site as the gunman opened fire at a group of people in front of the Jewish Museum in the central Sablon area, Belgian broadcaster RTBF said.

Another person was seriously injured in the attack, the emergency services said.

(Despite eye witnesses and video of the event, no description of the perps has been given in the story above. The Jewish community should sue the Belgian Government for reckless endangerment)

BBC:

Police have cordoned off the area but will not confirm if the gunman is still being pursued, as Duncan Crawford reports from the scene

A gunman has shot dead three people at the Jewish Museum in the Belgian capital Brussels, officials say.

A fourth person was seriously wounded, emergency services said.

The attacker arrived by car, got out, fired on people at the museum entrance, and returned to the vehicle which then sped away, Belgian media report.

(No description at BBC as well although they do have a video)

Haaretz claims their was an arrest. Still no description but many reports say it seem to have been a terrorist attack and antisemitic.

  1. If the term “youngster” is a translation for “youth” in this source (deredactie.be)closest identifier of the shooter. . .

Bystanders noted down the car number plate.

via WinnipegFreePress: The three dead were two women and a man, and all were struck by bullets in the face or throat, said Ine Van Wymersch, spokeswoman for the prosecutor’s office. No further details were given.

Joel Rubinfeld, president of the Belgian League Against Antisemitism, said it was a “terrorist act”. “Le Soir noted that Jewish communities have regularly complained about anti-semitic sentiment in Belgium.

  2. Just a quick hijack of this thread I hope Eeyore doesn’t mind.

    @ yucki

“Does he have a snail-mail address? I’d write him a “Little Postcard from Boston”. (To coin a phrase… (^.^)”

Sorry it took me so long (have been “walk-about”)

This is such a sweet idea and “snail-mail” is becoming more special as it is becoming more rare:

Here is the address I have:

    Michael Stürzenberger
    DIE FREIHEIT Landesverband Bayern
    Postfach 95 03 53
    D-81519 München

    (Germany of course ;))

  3. I hope thats a post office box and not his home address. If it is his home, please remove it immediately.

  4. Eeyore: for whom do you take me? Pfffft !

Especially as I have just read in a post where an explosive device was placed in his letter box – the second time. ‘

This is the official P.O. Box of “Die Freiheit”.

  5. Tomorrow you can see photos of all those fine Walloon peace officers laughing it up and photographing themselves doing the quenelle.

  6. Rita,
    Great!
I’ll do it today! Snail mail means more, and Michael deserves nothing less. A safe return address seems like a good idea, too. Thank-you.

  7. @ yucki – Safe return address: definitely !

You know “Stürzy” as some call him takes one specific theme in his 10 minutes speeches (limited by Court Order to 10 minutes just for him). One of his speeches was exclusively about the disgusting way in which Jews are – yet again – in danger in Germany.
Not only is he right, but he is also in contempt of cheap popularity – because, sad as it is, being anti-Jewish or “pro-paaaaalesteeeeeenian” (same thing) will get you the votes today.

That show-pony Pope seems to know that and therefore is shamelessly schmusing islam, while his flock is being massacred by muslims all over the place. Have a look at this:

    http://www.algemeiner.com/2014/05/25/pope-prays-before-slogan-comparing-bethlehem-to-warsaw-ghetto-jewish-group-calls-for-reflection-at-yad-vashem/

  8. You had reservations from the very start about this Pope, Rita.
Not all that many are paying attention to him any more. That’s the bright side.

  9. The beginnings of the second Holocaust are heating up, I often wonder how much longer it will take before the war starts in earnest.

  10. Richard & yucki

“….how much longer it will take before the war starts in earnest….”

I think it has started already, what we are living now, in my opinion, is the new form of war fare (different in form mainly from WWI & WWII). We are fighting it – although the “sides” seem very unbalanced because many of those who SHOULD BE on the side of good (*) are in bed with our enemy (looking at the White House and other seats of dangerous power). We just must not give up – what everyone of us does (be it participating here and spreading the word as much as we can) is important, I think.

(*) Yes I said “good” – I just am that kind of woman who still sees things in black and white – nuance is not my style 😉

  11. I’m at war with Belgium now.* And furious at the Israeli couple who were murdered.

The Jewish museum in Rome stayed open 24 hours in response. They said they had to do something, couldn’t really explain, they just did. Then people from all over started going there – local Jews, other locals, tourists, all sorts. They prayed a little, cried and laughed. Brought in food. Too damned sad.
    _______
*(Again, actually. Last time I caused a fuss by removing all the Belgian chocolates from my local TraderJoe’s upscale market. I knew the manager and explained, helped replace them on the very lowest shelf.)

  12. Good for you yucki!!

I will, for example, say very loudly to the supermarket people: “where are these bretzels from Israel” you had the other day, they were great. As I stand in front of them – and, because they are right there, at the bottom shelf, I pretend to be unable to find them.

Or those youngsters who sell Dead-Sea products in Westfield Shopping centres – and who dont even DARE any longer to identify as “Israelis” – I will – again, rather loudly say that their products are just soooooooooooo wonderful – and I buy them especially because when it comes from Israel you can be sure it’s exquisite quality.

And I do have about 10 more salad bowls than I need, made in Israel.

And I will ask the supermarket guy where they have NON- HALAL cheses, as I disapprove of that religion ….. and do they have this salmon “Blue Ocean”, which is imported and kosher – but it’s much nicer to eat and at least the “Kosher people do not force their religion down our throats”. At Australian Woolworth you will not find ONE local smoked salmon that is not terror-sponsoring HALAL certified.

When I feel “really” pesky, I will buy some discreetly HAlAL stamped stuff, and then, the next day bring it back and ask to have it changed into a non-Halal item, “I had not seen this stamp, it is so small, and I certainly will not eat HALAL…”. When I feel the sales person is naive (and the ignorance about this galloping islamisation is enormous) I will ear-bash her a bit – and I have already seen quite a few little eyes lighting up as if they understood…

And then there is commenting, and posting etc.

Every little helps I strongly believe.

And yes, you are right, yucki, the enemy is within, it’s the POTUS, and the next one if they are criminel enough to vote Clinton in …

  13. Rita yes we are fighting the war now, no it isn’t like and won’t be like WWI or WWII until the very ending moments although there will be brief moments in the war when large scale fighting will occur. However the fighting in earnest will start when the terror attacks are occurring on a daily basis and the local people move into the neighborhoods controlled by the enemies in retaliation for the terror attacks. It has been a long time since the west has seen fighting of the type that is coming or on the scale that is coming.

  14. Rita, your essay made me feel that little girl, wince as her hair was pulled. Such empathy is awesome.

You’re wicked naughty too! I’m inspired.

We don’t have garbage bags on the hoof yet in Boston, but when I see one I’m going to start yelling, “Jesus, Jesus, Mary, Mary Mother-of-G-d!”

  15. … and make it my business to bump into or casually brush the sleeve of any man with a tell-tale beard.

I’ve done it with haredis, I’ll do it to salafists. It’s the absolutely worst najis for both misogynist fanatics. As they torment themselves wondering, “Is she on the rag?”
