Navy replaces admiral leading Mideast strike group

Now the back story on this would be great to know. But since we don’t, I wonder if it has anything to do with a certain order to stand down in Libya, and a certain admiral who was in a position to provide intel to the Marines allowing them to survive a 7 hour fire fight.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. Navy said Saturday it is replacing the admiral in command of an aircraft carrier strike group in the Middle East, pending the outcome of an internal investigation into undisclosed allegations of inappropriate judgment.

Rear Adm. Charles M. Gaouette is being sent back to the USS John C. Stennis’ home port at Bremerton, Washington stae, in what the Navy called a temporary reassignment. The Navy said he is not formally relieved of his command of the Stennis strike group but will be replaced by Rear Adm. Troy M. Shoemaker, who will assume command until the investigation is completed.

It is highly unusual for the Navy to replace a carrier strike group commander during its deployment.

The Navy did not reveal details of the allegations, citing only an accusation of “inappropriate leadership judgment” that arose during the strike group’s deployment to the Middle East. Rear Adm. John Kirby, the Navy’s chief spokesman, declined to discuss the investigation.

  1. (Drumroll) Will the mainstream media be able to keep this Benghazi incident quiet until after the election? No matter how powerful the story is, if it’s not in the established papers, it doesn’t exist to most people. Check out CNN and see if you can find any reference to this mounting giant of a story. Only FOX seems interested. But, you know, if Obama wins he might just wish he hadn’t, as this story reaches its full potential and people start talking about impeachment.

  2. I don’t watch the news anymore but I have asked others about it and they know nothing about it

  3. This is becoming very interesting. General Carter Ham of the US Africa command was relieved of duties on 18 October and now an Admiral. I’m beginning to wonder if the upper echelons of the US military are becoming disenchanted by the Commander-in-Chief? If this is the case Mr Obama is playing a dangerous game by following the lead set by Recep Tayyip Erdo?an!

  4. How many officers were revealed of their command because they refused to stand by and let our people die? This is going to cause a lot of problems for Obama, in fact because of these and other actions he should start praying he doesn’t get re-elected.

Arthur according to the stories I am hearing General Ham was relieved of his command on 9/11/12 but the change in command wasn’t made public until Oct.

  5. OK Richard thanks for the update. Incidents like these are kept from the public if they concern left-wingers. The press and media would have a field day with a right-wing president.

  6. Thanks, that is what I have been hearing, and that the rapid reaction force he was sending was the Delta Force operators that were training in Europe at that time. The most likely scenario that fits is that Rear Adm. Charles M. Gaouette also refused to let our people murdered and was relieved of his command. Now the relieving officers are going to discover if the rest of the officer corp agrees with them, and we will have to see if one or both of the relieved officers insist on a Court Martial for disobeying what they obviously considered an unlawful order. If they do insist on the Court it will let a lot more info come out.
