Asylum seekers abused in Arboga

Burning immigration detention center

During an attack against an Arboga asylum accommodation, a man was severely abused. Three suspects have been captured.

The attack against Migrationsverket’s installation occurred around noon today. Three men who had drunken alcohol are to have thrown bottles, smashed windows, and also gone inside and abused a man at the accomodation, before they disppeared on foot, according to witnesses.

Shortly after, three men were captured – 31, 28 and 27 years old.

‘All three of them have been known with police since earlier’, says Johanna von Wowern, the press speaker for Västmanland police, to TT [news agency].

According to her, those captured have been known for violent crimes committed earlier.

In relation to the attack, they are being suspected for damages, attempted larceny of means of transport, and severe abuse of a man living at the accomodation.

At the end of january, major parts of the installation were destroyed by a fire. At that time, 66 persons had to be evacuated, and three persons were taken to hospital for smoke injuries. Police could not find any natural explanation for the fire and did not exclude the possibility of arson.
