The petrol bomb attack on the pub was caught on CCTV

A would-be petrol bomber who was caught by police after he ran into a lamppost and needed medical treatment has been jailed for eight years.

Amir Ali, of Ridge Road, Crouch End, north London, tried to set fire to the Imperial pub in Crawley, West Sussex.

He broke a window while another man threw a petrol bomb which hit Ali and burst into flames in May 2008, Hove Crown Court heard.

The 28-year-old panicked and hit his head on a lamppost as he fled.

Ali, who was linked to the attack by police when he sought treatment for his head injury, was found guilty in August of criminal damage.

Sussex Police said he had consistently denied being involved in the attack despite it being caught on CCTV.

Police are still trying to seek the identity of the second man involved.

  4. Obviously, those guys are not exactly trained operatives, but that is, perhaps, the most frightening aspect of this video, that they are such “harmless” guys. Comical guys, in a way. The horrible fact that their ordinariness underscores is that they could be anybody. Any Muslim, especially but not necessarily a young male, could be about to carry out an act of Jihad, so which ones do you trust? For a society to work we have to be able to at least trust that the person standing next to you isn’t going to shove you in front of the subway. Imagine everybody backing away from the platform and eying each other. “No, no. You first”. Look, we just can’t live that way. There are, when you think about it, a thousand horrible things, both big and small, that you could do every day to make the world a lousier place, but only Islamists actually go around looking for them as acts of religious devotion. This is the methodology of Islam, to just mess up the culture until it comes unglued and then come to the rescue with the Religion of Peace. And don’t ever think that a society can’t be messed up; Islam has been successfully destroying cultures for 1400 years, so dismiss it at your peril. Have you ever wondered what happened to those cool ancient empires that now seem to need help tying up their own shoes? How much fun is it going to be when you can’t go to a salad bar for fear that somebody just spit in it, when you can’t go for a walk, for fear of being attacked, when you can’t see a person with a bag or a purse, and not wonder if it’s a bomb. It’s just untenable! To me, the knowledge that in my own country, there is this large group of people who simply wish me ill is just not acceptable. Let’s face facts. Anybody who sits there reading the Quran for spiritual guidance is studying a Book of War against the rest of us. It’s not OK!

  7. You have to wonder how he did not divulge the name of the other guy…. the prosecutor would have offered to lessen his sentence for that info and he either didn’t take it or did …. so there’s more here than we are told.
    I don’t believe that the cops don’t know the other guy’s identity.

  8. Fanatics, religious or otherwise often don’t talk to their captors, yes the police probably know the name of the other person but can’t prove anything and thus can’t release the name. They will be watching him waiting for him to make a mistake.

    A friend who is a retired Deputy Sheriff says that the FBI agents he knows say they are spending their time watching Moslem idiots, they are so stupid they go out of their way to draw attention to themselves. None of these people are trained, hell during WWII a Nazi spy was in New York, he lasted the entire war by keeping his head down, collecting information and sending it back to Germany and visiting doctors to try and get his ulcers healed to where he didn’t have to eat milk toast once a day. These idiots can’t keep their mouths shut and have to act guilty when they are doing things. So just wait the other person will end up in the pen, or dead when one of his bombs goes off early.
