Yemeni cleric Sheikh Abdulmajeed al-Zendani said on Jan. 15 during a Friday prayer sermon that should Yemen become occupied by a foreign power, it would be a religious duty to defend the nation through jihad, Al Alam News reported. He said an order from God cannot be annulled by a king, a president or a committee of Muslim scholars. On Jan. 14, more than 150 Yemeni clerics said they would declare jihad if foreign troops continued involvement there.
