An apparent domestic tragedy is being investigated by police in the city on Wednesday. Cops were called to 55 Munro St. in the Broadview and Dundas area for a report of a stabbing.

When they arrived shortly before the noon hour, they discovered a 27-year-old woman without vital signs. Paramedics worked frantically to revive her at the scene (top left) but she died soon after in St. Michael’s Hospital.

The victim has been identified as Jamila Hassan. An autopsy will be conducted on Thursday.

A man also has wounds to his body and reports suggest they may have been self-inflicted. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Cops have charged 24-year-old Abdirasak Hassan with second-degree murder.

There are indications the pair may be brother and sister but it’s not clear what led to such a violent argument.

Neighbours say they often felt  scared of the accused, alleging he may have had some mental health issues.

  1. This has nothing to do with Islam… I was a personal friend/neighbour to Jamilah Hassan and friends with her brothers… This had nothing to do with Islam, he suffered from Mental illnesses that went untreated… Please don’t misinform the public…
